Chapter 8:

Leviathan

The Ancient Weapon of Aineura

Dark grey figures resembling that of snakes appear on all sides of my ship body. In the midst of the panic, I looked at what was pulling me down in the darkness. The main searchlight starts to rotate clockwise in an attempt to see my attacker. One of the figures was glared at by the light and showed a clue as to what monster I was dealing with. A massive tentacle almost the length of my entire body is slowly reaching out to the light that is aiming at it. As I suspected it indeed exists in this world and told Arika what exactly it is. I took the opportunity to scan one of the tentacles and it showed most of the information I needed.

[ Digital Scan: Mk.1 - Target: Tentacle - Kraken]

Target Name: Kraken

Race: Ancient Giant Octopus

Faction: Atlantea - Sea Guardian

HP: 400,000 / 400,000

Lvl: 90

State: [ None ]

“It’s a Kraken! A Kraken is pulling me down. This giant octopus is preventing me from leaving.” I told her hurriedly as I continued to transfer whatever remaining power I have to my shields.

“..A Kraken? I never heard of such monstrosity! It is good to have your databases still intact, else we never should’ve known what we are dealing with here.” Ahh. That knowledge did not actually come from the databases I have, Miss demon lord. It came from another world you see but you won’t understand that If I told you where my soul came from!

“...I can only hold it off with my remaining power. If I lost all 4.0% I would be crushed by this sea monster…” I told Arika. I had my mind set on trying to defend myself if I told her that I could get some aid from her or anything.

More tentacles appeared on my sides as the first that hit me coiled up above my head and started to slowly crush me. Loud metallic creaking can be heard emanating across my metallic body and Arika’s viewscreen of the outside shows 4 of the tentacles slowly cracking the bright red light shields that are on my body.

“I’m sorry I cannot do anything at this state. Even if I managed to heal the curse completely… I doubt I could even help you with this.”

What do you mean by that Arika? You have been in this world long before I did. Don’t you have any knowledge on how to beat this thing or any spells to at the least protect me? If I die you die too you know!

“What do you mean!? I really need your help here! Do you have any spells to at least cast inside me to help me fight this thing?” I expressed my annoyance in the midst of battle

“...I’m sorry I..”

“Even with what you told me about hiding in the fog against the entire Toratoga Armada, I couldn’t help but wonder why… you didn’t fight alone….” The pressure from the tentacles slowly drains my shield integrity as well as my remaining power. I stuttered as I continued to apply force on the shields.

“It is because I am not strong enough… I am level 15 and I am not the demon lord…”

“...Huh?..”

The words I heard inside me were enough to leave me confused and surprised. She is not the demon lord and she is level 15? How come she is still alive? As more pressure gets through one of my shields, I activated ARMMS again despite being on low power.

ARMMS Activated. Target Acquired : Kraken

Even though this squid has almost the same HP as me, I need to at least prevent some of its tentacles from crushing me completely. Two of my own tentacles appear on my sides and 10 smaller ones appear at the ends of each two. I turned my third-person camera around and grabbed one of the tentacles on my left and one on my right. The 5 tentacles or as I would feel and call them ‘fingers’ are too short to reach each tentacle on their own. I managed to drag the tentacle on my left away from my body and activated the single Electron-Ion Cannon I used back in my fight against the pirates.

The cannon charges up and shoots the tentacle right off the Kraken. The entire creature groaned in agony as it retreated to one of its limbless sides. I did the same thing to the tentacle on my right side and shot it with the cannon.

“I cannot hold the remaining 6 tentacles for much longer. I really need your help here!” Even if I ask for aid, none will arrive from the demon lord. She falls quiet and turns her head down. The bridge begins to give in as the tentacles apply more pressure to crush me. The viewscreen Arika has lost power as I have been rerouting it to all of my shields.

“AHH I HAD ENOUGH” Sounds of electronics are slowly losing noise as I power down all the shields I have left. Arika is surprised to hear this as no audible noise from the machines is left inside the bridge.

“What are you doing!?... I don’t want to die!” Arika braces for impact and prepares to welcome her death at that moment.

As I disable all shields, 6 tentacles reach me and cut off one of my ARMMS.

“AGGHH!?” I felt excruciating pain from that as one of my machine limbs was torn off from me. I put all the remaining power I have into the cannon I have on the front of my bridge. The weapon activates and prepares to fire another beam. Another tentacle is down and out but 5 more remain. I transferred the main gun to my rear using the technology I used for the searchlight. It aimed directly at the water where all the tentacles are coming from. The weapon now starts to activate again only this time it failed to fire.

“HUH!?” A random light shined my entire surroundings and a sound of a whistle rapidly approaches behind me. An enormous splash made by whatever hit the water destroyed the Kraken into several pieces underwater. An underwater explosion then moves me about 100 meters forward and a late fountain of water rises behind me reaching my height.

The Kraken’s head is scattered and all of the tentacles are slowly sliding down my body and into the water. Several pieces of guts and blood soon saturate the sea below me. More of its pieces remain on some of the areas of my body either slowly slipping away or stuck on the dents made by the Kraken from attacking me.

“Eugh… What a slimy bastard.” I slipped my mouth accidentally as I let out an exhausted sigh. Arika hears my exclaim as well as the explosion that killed the Kraken in one hit.

“What happened out there?! What was all that explosion?” Arika instantly asks as she slowly recovers her feelings from a brace for death.

“The Kraken is dead, demon lord Arika.” I responded as I recovered my breath. Though I do not believe machines need to breathe, I guess what I am feeling is my internal ventilation systems or something trying to cool down my insides.

“As expected of you Ai. I should’ve activated you beforehand and made you one of my top generals or if I ever make it out here with you alive. Though I doubt that.” I didn’t need that praise as I was not the one that killed it. I had to bear the bad news for her.

For a few moments, I did not respond to her praise. I frantically looked around the fog with the still-working searchlight to find who or what fired at that creature. The main weapon immediately powered down and removed itself just like how it was made there. The gun turns into a blue hologram of itself and disappears from my sight.

The searchlight follows my focused vision as if I had a flashlight for my eyes. Judging by the corpse of the Kraken, the shell probably came from behind me. Did it come from outside the mist? How is that even remotely possible?

“Is there something wrong, Ai?” Concerned, she tries to look at the viewscreen which she might have correctly guessed that I have been using to see her inside me.

“I did not kill that creature. Something else attacked it.” I replied to her question while still searching in the general direction it came from.

“It was not another sea monster if that is what you are thinking.” I added to my response. “It was another weapon beam similar to what I have right now… but larger.” I did not need to add that it was huge, which may have made her more anxious as to what fired it.

“It was not you!?.. Then what else could have killed it? I don’t think there is another weapon like you buried elsewhere that has just been activated.” I may be a one-of-a-kind weapon but the chances of that possibility are low but not zero.

“I don’t know. I am preparing to disconnect you from my healing apparatus. In the event, I get destroyed, escape at my rear.” Several metallic doors slowly rose from the bridge to where Arika is up to the hole on the rear of my ship body. Several emergency lights are then simultaneously lit up to guide the demon lord out in case she finds me confusing to navigate.

“...Ok.. I shall do that.” the demon queen stutters and prepares for the signal of the apparatus to remove the wires attached to her.

Then a dark blue beam of light coming from the complete opposite direction of where the shot came from illuminated me completely. It covered my entire body with the light and stayed there for a good 15 seconds. The once dark blue light then flashes light blue for a split second and returns to dark blue. The light then retreated and turned itself off, no longer illuminating me.

A second beam of light returns and illuminates me once again this time with the color red. Something tells me I did not pass whatever checklist it has for me to be friendly or enemy I suppose. This red light stayed on me at the same time as the previous blue then turned yellow completely.

“What the hell!?” I exclaimed. Arika hears this as well while hanging inside me. Heavy metallic creaking is then heard everywhere on my body. Everything rattles as I slowly get pulled toward the yellow light. The lights pierced beyond the fog that I cannot see what is out there controlling them.

“Is it time for me to escape? Why are we moving?” Arika asks me.

“...The light is taking me towards it. ….I cannot move!!” I have at least 1.5% of power left and during the entire battle against the Kraken, I could also use much of my remaining power. My shields failed to activate as I was pulled toward the light. Pain reaches me again as one of my ARMMS is detached from my body. I could sacrifice my entire power for my main gun if the worst happens. It seems that I am not the only ancient weapon in this area. I thought of the worst as I am forcibly dragged to whatever is pulling me closer.
