Chapter 48:

Killed instantly!

Rebirth of the mighty overlord

The azure sky was clear, as there wasn't a single speck of cloud in sight. The morning weather was dry and tranquil as the sun shone its golden rays onto the surroundings.

The capital city of the kingdom of Nahinil was bustling with the liveliness of the citizens as the streets were unusually crowded with not only its residents but also immigrants from the many different kingdoms.

Shopping malls, stalls and other varieties of store could be found here and there.

The buildings of the capital city were all extremely beautiful. Their height was all roughly fifty meters tall, extending high above their heads.

The streets were paved skillfully with marbles like tiles as they spread as far as the eyes could see.

The attractiveness of the city had naturally caught the eyes of many who witnessed it for the first time in their life.

Alan and Elena both silently made their way through the sea of crowd as the laughter and chatter of the people caught their ears. However, as they walked the streets became more populated so they both went through a narrowed alleyway and entered an area that was less populated.

It was a district that had completely separated the capital.

The buildings were all well maintained and towered high above their heads. The streets were paved smoothly from stone tiles. Although it wasn't as extravagant as the capital city, the district definitely wouldn't lose to any other city of the kingdom of Nahinil.

Elena's eyes suddenly shone as she untangled her hand from Alan's and made her way towards a stall that sold various accessories attractive to women.

"Good day, young miss, did you see anything that caught your eyes?" A young woman who seems to be in her mid-thirties acting as the vendor inquired with a faint smile on her face.

While she didn't know about Elena's background judging by the dress, she wore which looked very expensive and well-made she easily deduced her status wasn't ordinary. "Mm, let's see." Elena gazed at all the accessories that were on display with an eager look on her face. There were a large variety of accessories placed on the stall.

"Mm, this energy is?"

Elena's bright golden eyes reflected a beautiful diamond shaped necklace and promptly asked in an eager tone. "This necklace, I can sense the profound wonders of nature emanating from it, do you mind telling me a bit about its history?"

The woman acting as the vendor shifted her gaze towards the direction Elena was pointing and explained.

"Fumu, that necklace was created by a talented craftsman from the elven continent. A friend of mine had shipped it over to our continent and had given it to me to use for auction."

"Hm, the elven continent I see... No wonder I could feel such rich nature energy coming from it." Elena mumbled excitedly to herself.

Despite the separation of the seven great lands, merchants still continue to do business with each continent, allowing different artifacts and various merchandise to be circulated throughout each of the neighboring kingdoms.

"Users of nature energy is already extremely rare around these parts, an artifact like this is indispensable to me." Elena mumbled to herself.

It was common knowledge that the elven race was the closest to nature.

While energies such as mana and spiritual energy were given to mankind by the goddesses, nature energy was a very special energy produced by nature.

Those capable of harnessing its powers could directly manipulate life-force and even manipulate plants at will, it also has great healing effects that could even rival the light element of magic giving the users miraculous healing abilities.

Elves were all known to be deeply connected to nature and could easily manipulate such energy at will as though it was second nature.

However, while they weren't as deeply connected to nature as the elves, humans could also manipulate such energy as well.

Elena had been very interested in nature energy for a long time so, she couldn't pass up on the opportunity to obtain an artifact enchanted with nature energy.

'If I study it maybe I could find a way to manipulate nature energy.' She secretly thought to herself.

Alan who had been silently observing everything a meter or so away from behind also observed the necklace with deep interest.

"It's been a while since I last felt such a strong essence of nature. Although it's nowhere near the level of the elven empress I met all those years ago." He mumbled to himself.

Back then the continent wasn't divided and had been one massive land. However, all the races were in a bloody war that lasted for several years.

The population of the elves were dwindling at a frightening paste with no other option, the elven empress made the proposal to separate all the race.

And after deep contemplation it was the goddess Udea who made the decision to split the continent into seven different lands.

Although not many had agreed to it and some expressed resentment Ellard had no other choice but to divide the continent as it was the will of his goddess.

Beast king of the god beast race and even the ancient clans that had lost interest in the worldly affairs had agreed to the decision.

Using Akane's power Ellard destroyed the continent, dividing each mass of land into different territories, each ruled by different species. Although some of them continued making contact with each other even after he had divided the continent into what was now known as the seven great land.

"Although, a thousand years had already passed since then. I can't help but wonder how things are with the other continent." Alan sighed as he lamented his lack of information.

[There is no need to beat yourself up. We will naturally learn everything we need to learn.] Akane's melodious voice resounded. There were no worries in her voice, just absolute confidence.

At that Alan's lips curved into a faint smile. "Right... There are still many things we need to do before that. First things first we should get you back at full power."

[Umu, I'm looking forward to it.] Akane responded cheerfully.

After examining the diamond shaped necklace for some time Elena placed it around her small slender neck. "It seems like a perfect fit. What do you think?" She turned towards Alan and asked, curiously.

"Yes, I think it looks really good on you." Alan replied sincerely. Maybe she could feel the sincerity from his words as her snow-white cheeks were dyed a shade of red in embarrassment.

"Alright, I'll take it. How much does it cost?" Elena asked as she turned to face the vendor.

"That would be ten gold coins." She replied.

Getting merchandise from the other six continent coupled with the rare energy the necklace was enchanted with made it very expensive.

"Ten gold, in that case here." Without missing a beat Elena promptly took out a pouch from her dress pocket and handed ten gold coins without any sign of hesitation.

Upon receiving the ten gold coins the woman was left speechless her eyes widening in shock. "Excuse me c-could the young miss be the mistress of one of the great families?" The woman paled as she asked, her body trembled as she shrinks back in fright.

Ten gold coins wasn't a sum of coins originally commoners would have. And considering how easy she had handed it over to her, the woman suspected Elena wasn't from an ordinary background.

The kingdom of Nahinil had many prominent families aside from the three most powerful clans which held the second highest authority only to the royal family.

The woman never considered Elena being one of the heirs of the three great clans as it was simply unthinkable for someone of such lofty status to be seen in an area like this, with no guards no less.

"There is no need to be so stiff. However, I don't think it's necessary to give you that information." Elena replied indifferently before heading back to Alan's side.

The necklace hanging around her neck shone with brilliant light that seem to contain the soothing energy of nature. "Are you ready?" He inquired, once again offering his hand. "Sorry to keep you waiting." She said as she took his hand.

They both walked through the district while observing the scenery together.

...

Meanwhile, as Alan and Elena were steadily making their way towards the shopping district located in the central square of the capital city. Trisa had already arrived at central park where Alan had met Elena.

Using detection magic to find any remaining traces of Alan's presence left behind Trisa enchanted her physical body using her own magical power and quickly made her way towards the lingering traces of Alan's magical energy left behind.

In another area a young woman with long silky black hair dressed in white wore an anxious expression on her face as she also used detection magic to find Elena's traces. She was the personal guard of Elena.

"Tsk, I was too careless. How could I have ended up losing sight of the young mistress." She mumbled bitterly as she ran at a tremendous speed.

The scenery of the surroundings changed rapidly in her field of view. With each step, with each breath she took, she had already crossed a great distance.

Easily moving rapidly through the capital at blinding speed.

...

At the same time in one section of the capital, a rather extravagant looking carriage traverses through the sea of crowd.

On the carriage there was an insignia embedded there, once the commoners saw the insignia, many of them backed away in fright.

The insignia was distinctive to the insignia of the Oblong family. Aside the three clans that possessed the second highest authority to the royal family. The great noble families held the third highest authority and served beneath the three great clans.

The Oblong family in particular, were from the faction of the moon clan. With the backing of the moon clan, the Oblong held a lofty status within the kingdom of Nahinil.

However, the reputation of the Oblong family was among the worst of all great noble family. That was, because of the youngest heir of the Oblong family.

He was infamous of his lustful tendency, as he occasionally captures the young women of the capital.

As the carriage smoothly moved through the sea of crowd, the doors of the carriage swung open and golden cackling chains moved swiftly, coiling around the slender limbs of the young women.

Soon, the chains made loud cackling sound as the chains retracted, dragging the women roughly towards the carriage.

"Kyaaa!"

"Wh-What's happening?"

"H-Help me!"

The women all plea in fright as they gaze at the crowd, desperately urging them to help. However, the many commoners gathered in the surroundings discreetly shifted their gaze to the side in shame.

No one was brave enough to stand up for them, a conflict with the Oblong family was no different from entering into a conflict with the moon clan. Only someone with equivalent status was able to oppose someone in a higher position.

"Hmph, stop your pointless resisting. All of you good for nothing commoners should be grateful I decided to even glance at your ant like existence." A youthful voice sounded from inside the carriage.

Watching this scene take place Elena narrowed her golden eyes as a trace of murderous intent appeared.

"Despicable!" She mumbled; maybe it was because she was also a woman her voice was laced with fury. Standing at her side, Alan also gazes at the scene with a flash of killing intent in his eyes.

"Looks like he is at it again." An elderly man mumbled bitterly. Hearing this a look of curiosity appeared on his face. Several murmurs sounded from here and there but with the vast quantity of people gathered it was difficult to hear what they were uttering.

Alan promptly used his spiritual energy to enchant his hearing to pick up on pieces of information.

"That's the insignia of the Oblong family!"

"Tsk, that bastard is up to his usual antics again!"

"Sigh, I wonder who will be unfortunate to become another one of his playthings again."

'The Oblong family, if I remember correctly isn't that one of the great families with the backing of the moon clan?' Alan pondered to himself. Although he never cared about the political situation of the kingdom, his mother usually teaches him everything relating to the inner working of the nation.

"N-No! M-Mother, stop you can't have my mother!" Holding the golden chain by the hand a young boy desperately pulled the golden chains to free his mother who was being forcefully dragged towards the carriage.

"Humph, get lost kid!" The voice once again resounded from inside the carriage. Standing at the side of the carriage, one of the guards heard the anger of his master moved forward, unsheathing the blade at his waist as he gazes coldly at the young boy attempting to stop the retraction of the golden chains.

As though noticing his intentions, Alan's emerald pupils' flash as spiritual energy began to surge from his body.

"Move it!" The guard said, raising his hand wielding sword towards the young boy. As the blade of his sword moved downwards in an attempt to pierce through the body of the young boy, Alan used 'Soul destruction' and fired his spiritual energy in the shape of a condensed sword towards the guard.

Swoosh!

The sword traveled at a frightening speed, closing the distance in mere seconds. The guard didn't even have time to groan in pain as the sword pierced through the center of his forehead entering inside his body.

Despite that there was no blood, nor was there any physical wounds left behind. However, his face grimaced as he suddenly felt a sense of dizziness, his surroundings spun, and his eyes became empty, he staggered onto his feet before subsequently falling to the ground lifelessly with a dull thud.

His soul was completely destroyed!

As they watch the lifeless body of the guard fell to the ground, many gasps resounded from the sea of crowd.

"Ahhh!" Seeing the lifeless body that had suddenly fell before him, the young boy screamed and backed away in fright with pale face.

"Wh-What happened?! You, stop staring idly and go and check on him!" The irritated voice of the young master of the Oblong family once again rang out from within the carriage.

"Y-Yes sir!" The guard standing at the rear promptly made his way towards the body of his fellow companion.

However, just like the scene before his eyes suddenly became dull and empty as he collapses face first onto the ground.

"..." watching this scene, a heavy silence fell over the surroundings.
