The Survey Corps headquarters buzzed with a somber energy in the wake of the recent tragedy. Loss hung heavy in the air, a stark reminder of the dangers they faced beyond the walls.

The survey corps never lost this much of troops since Roku Ackerman became the captain 4 years ago,

Hange, her heart heavy with grief, was summoned to Roku Ackerman's office. As she entered, she offered a crisp salute,

"Take a seat," Roku said to her, Hange approached him and took a seat in front of his desk

"You remember me, right? Hange," Roku asked, his tone measured

Hange nodded silently, Roku's next words caught her off guard.

"Your father was a great man," he remarked, his voice carrying a note of respect

Hange's heart clenched at the mention of her father. She swallowed hard, struggling to find her voice amidst the tide of emotions threatening to overwhelm her.

"You like reading, right?" Roku inquired, his gaze fixed on her with unwavering intensity.

Hange blinked, surprised by the sudden shift in conversation. "Yes, I do, sir," she answered, her voice tinged with uncertainty.

"Good. I will send you all your father's documents and researches. You may be able to continue his legacy. I am sure you can even be better than him," Roku stated

Hange's eyes widened in astonishment at his unexpected offer. The prospect of delving into her father's work filled her with a mix of excitement and trepidation.

"Well, I don't know about that, sir," she replied humbly, her mind racing with the possibilities that lay before her.

"Take this paper and shut your mouth," Roku said bluntly, handing her a document. His words were sharp, leaving no room for argument.

Hange accepted the paper with a mix of apprehension and curiosity, her fingers trembling slightly as she took hold of it.

She glanced down at the document, her eyes scanning the familiar words of her father's research. A surge of emotion welled up within her as she realized the significance of what lay before her.

As she began to read, Hange felt a wave of excitement wash over her. The pages were filled with her father's meticulous observations and groundbreaking discoveries, each word a testament to his passion and dedication. She devoured the contents eagerly, her mind ablaze with newfound inspiration.

Roku watched her intently, his expression unreadable as he observed her reaction to her father's work.

In Hange's fervent enthusiasm, he glimpsed echoes of her father's spirit, a spark of brilliance that burned brightly within her.

"There are some books too. I will make someone deliver them to your room," Roku informed her, his tone softer now, tempered by a hint of approval.

"Thank you, sir," Hange murmured, her gratitude evident in her voice. She felt a sense of purpose stirring within her, fueled by the opportunity to honor her father's memory and carry on his legacy.

"Starting from today, you will be with the special squad," Roku announced, his voice firm and unwavering. His decision was final, and his expectations were clear.

"As you say, Roku," Hange replied earnestly, she then realized the mistake she had made,

"A....A...I meant...", Roku didn't let her continue

"Leave the room, Hange," Roku commanded, his attention already turning back to his papers. His dismissal was swift, leaving Hange to grapple with the whirlwind of emotions that swirled within her.

With a final salute, Hange exited the office, her mind buzzing with excitement and anticipation for the challenges that lay ahead.

She knew that under Roku's guidance, she had the opportunity to forge her own path and make her mark on the Survey Corps, and never regret her comrades' deaths.
