Chapter 19:

Parents Home

My Other Half

The sun was already up high in the sky, when Ivaylo woke up. The human girl was gone for work but still left him breakfast on the Kotatsu table with a note attached. "Good morning Mister! Hope you feel much better and that the hangover isn't that serious. Enjoy your meal and keep positive! I am rooting for you! I will be back in the evening."

He recalled the day before. Ivaylo touched his shoulder and what had happened. "Oh god! I kissed her..." brushing over his lips with his fingers. He pondered about her scrapped lip and the sweet taste of her blood, that made him go wild on her. Ivaylo's face became instantly flushed with color.

The phone! Where is the phone?! He needed to call and request a vacation. It shouldn't be that difficult. After the phone call, he gathered all his belongings, which wasn't much since he was commuting once in a while to change them from his condo in the City center.

As he stood on the threshold of the entrance door with the luggage bag, he looked back. It felt weird... like it would be the last time. Should he write her a note?! Nah! He will be back in a week's time. She will manage on her own like she did before. The door was shut behind him and the keys rang in the keyhole.

He drove himself into the gated community behind the city with a wonderful view and nature. He was happy to be home after a long time. "How's your work going? You were pretty busy the last few weeks after the attack. You didn't even come to visit." The grandfather came to pat him on the back.

"What's this?! Human stench?!" Ivaylo flinched. Luckily he was turned with his back to him, so he didn't see his reaction. Ivaylo collected himself. "Our chairman hired humans to join our office. I have to work with them. I have mentioned it before..." The rest of his family joined in the middle of his explanation.

"Still...How horrible!" Ivaylo's grandmother gasped. He couldn't disclose he got demoted, was sent to work at the Outskirts, and voluntarily lived in a household with a female human. It would completely destroy both sets of his grandparents and he wasn't sure about the opinion of his parents either. They were much more lenient, but still...

His parent's house was a luxurious five-bedroom residence in the middle of the godly nature. If Ivaylo wished, he could return home to live together with them. They still held to the pack mentality of a family. Despite that, he loved to be alone like that lone wolf he was.

In celebration of his return, they had a little barbeque party and invited also their neighbors. Everybody there was rich so of course Ivaylo's mother tried to meddle in his private life once more and introduced the daughter of one of them. He wasn't really thrilled about that. Not again!

"Do you know her? She is very pretty, well-educated, and has a respectable position in her company. You should go on a date with her in the future. What do you think?" Ivaylo loved his mother, but this was too much for him, despite that, he was polite enough to humor her request... again.

The young Beast lady walked over in her high heels clacking on the concrete floor, with a bright smile plastered on her face. She was not only the same half-blood type as Ivaylo, but a wolf core as well. Rare blond hair, cut into a bob, and chocolate brown eyes. Very pretty to look indeed.

With great enthusiasm, she introduced herself to him, but Ivaylo didn't pay attention and didn't catch her name. Basically, he ignored her attempt to get familiar with him. He blocked her away like some white noise in the background. "... and I would like to get to know you..." His mind was wandering.

He was regretting not to leave a note for that human girl. It's already dark outside and what could she be up to right now? Maybe she was cooking. He hoped she didn't prepare too much food. Well, she can still put it into the fridge and eat it later. "... at 6 p.m would be the best..."

His mother interrupted the chain of his thoughts by wrapping her arm around his. "That would be great! Right, my son?!" He snapped out of it. "Yes! Sure!" This meddling again! Ivaylo loved his mother and didn't want to make her upset, so he went with anything she requested.

In the end, he had always the right to refuse. For him, it was just a waste of time, and he had to bear it once and be done. That much he could do. He knows this time won't be any different. He will probably go out with her only one time and then call it a day. Gently push her away, telling her some bullshit about not being compatible enough.

The whole week flew in a blur. The only annoying thing was that Beastwoman, who came by every single day of his stay. She tried her best to bond with him but he never really paid any attention to her. Instead, she just talked to his parents and he was like hanging around. Sometimes listening but mostly just with his mind out of the window.

Friday approached. He enjoyed that short time with his family. They spent time and talked a lot. He felt like a small kid again, but this had to come to an end. For the weekend he planned to go back to his condo and prepare some clean clothes to take with him to the Outskirts apartment.

Ivaylo sat on the chair at the desk of his childhood home. Still, it was just the early evening. Looking out of the window at the night sky full of sparkling stars. He laid down on his crossed arms and his thoughts were escaping the dark bedroom to the Outskirts making his tail wag.

*Phone ringing*
Ivaylo: "Yes Chairman?!"
Chairman: "You can wrap it up at the Outskirts and return to the Headquarters starting Monday. Your innocence was proven."

Ivaylo was left stunned into silence...
