Chapter 19:

Finding Solace together

The broken bond

As Rehan settled into his seat at the dull, drawn-out meeting aimed at establishing regulations for elemental users, he couldn't help but feel a sense of restlessness creeping over him. The room was suffused with a heavy atmosphere, the air thick with the weight of bureaucratic deliberation. Around him, officials droned on about the intricacies of elemental control, their voices monotonous and their expressions weary. Leaning back in his chair, Rehan ran a hand through his hair, his mind wandering back to Arna. He was worried how she left their date abruptly. It was a sensation he struggled to reconcile—a dissonance between the logical detachment he prided himself on and the unbidden surge of emotion that threatened to overwhelm him. He found himself at a loss, grappling with the unfamiliar terrain of vulnerability and uncertainty.

" Gentlemen, let's resume our meeting for another day. There are other matters that need my urgent attention," As Rehan stormed out of the meeting room, leaving a wake of stunned silence among the officials. Arnold signed disapprovingly while following Rehan out of the room.

" Sire there is meeting scheduled for you this evening," Arnold said  while turning pages on his clipboard. To the casual observer, the clipboard might have seemed a trivial accessory. But to those who knew Arnold personally, it was a symbol of his  unwavering dedication to the Prince and his role as the Secretary. Arnold was used to Rehan bizzare  personality. He advised the prince to not be hasty as the officials were not in favour of him as he was unbonded with a spirit.

" Arnold, Arnold, Arnold," the Prince shacked his head. "I as the Crown prince who is looks over everything in the kingdom and running the household matters. Do you think as the crown prince anyone would question my behavior ? " Rehan asked coldly to his secretary. "Come one Arnold, let's go and look around the city.   This room is beginning to suffocate me,"  Rehan and Arnold wore disguises to blend in the crowd.

The market was buzzing with people. Smells of delicious trinkets were surrounding the air. Rehan saw how commoners were rushing to the vendors to get good deals for the goods they were selling. Rehan was just numb, he didn't care on how people were triving in his kingdom or suffering. He was given a role to play as a Prince by his mother and he will do  anything to became the only heir and noting will stop him to became the king of Zenaad as his mother wish. But Arna she was the only one who made him contemplate his role. Why does heer existence was making him weak.

His thoughts came to an abrupt halt as the familiar voice cut through the crowd. He saw Arna buying skewers with another woman. They were smiling and chatting away. He stumbled through the crowd and grab on to Arna before she vanished into the crowd. Arna looked shocked and began fight to lose the grip of the unknown hand. She realized that it was Rehan that was holding on to her hand.

Rehan with a charming smile he said Hi. Rehan holding on to her  and ran into the nearest alleyway to escape the crowd. Diane looked behind to find out that her sister who was following her was missing as well as Arnold when to find his missing master. Arna with the skewers on her hand was standing in front of Rehan clearly confused on what just happened. Rehan was slouching to catch his breath. " What are you doing here and why did you just ran. Are you being chased,".

Rehan blushed as he didn't know why he grabbed Arna. When it comes to Arna his mind was in haywire even though they meet for a few times. " No Arna, I just wanted to talk to you. You did leave me hanging during our date,"

Arna felt embarrassed and apologized profusely. Rehan laughed lightly which made Arna heart skip a bit. " Well my lady, why don't we go on a date today. There are many things to explore. How about it Arna.," Rehan said while extending his hand hoping Arna would accept it. Arna with skewers in her hand accept it gladly.
