Escape

The nighttime felt heavy on Zeev. All those injuries caused by the silver pole were healing very slowly. He began to run a fever and his breathing was challenging him. The whole facility was dimly lit and silent.

Suddenly the ping of the elevator caught his attention and he looked over that way. A stripe of light blinded him for a second. A female soldier holding a gun walked outside of it and was making her way toward him.

Zeev's throat got dry out of fear. He didn't even have the time to heal and they are going to do something to him again? Panic set inside his head. A low growl came out of the cell next to him.

The female soldier stopped in front of the silver bars and lifted her head. Under the cap as first Zeev spotted a smirk. It scared him but then... Patty! She signaled him with the index finger to keep silent. A wave of relief flooded his weak body. She came for him!

Patty raised her left hand and then pointed it at Zeev's cage. Romulus dressed in soldier attire stood in the command tower surrounded by dead bodies. A little bit confused, he pushed the wrong button and the cell next to Zeev began to open. Patty turned to the tower looking at Romulus with a questioning glance.

The door didn't have time to fully open when a white monster of a werewolf shot out and jumped at Patty. Zeev shouted at him to stop. She blocked his fangs with the gun shoving it across into his mouth.

Asset-751 pinned her to the ground, struggling to sink his teeth into her. Romulus pushed another button and then ran out of the tower jumping down. In free fall, he changes into his werewolf form, charging at the white werewolf.

Zeev pushed himself against the silver door to get out and help her. In the process, he burned his skin even more. Romulus threw the white one off her. Asset-751 crashed into the wall making it crack. Zeev made a stance between them and him.

The white werewolf didn't understand, what was going on. Why are they both protecting a human soldier? Zeev stretched his hand in front of him."We will explain." Romulus held Patty in his arms and transformed into a human. "We won't have much time. Where are the others?!" He turned with that question to Asset-751, who changed into a human form out of respect for his former prison mate.

"There are none..." Taken aback, Romulus couldn't understand. The white-haired guy was explaining further. "Some were transferred away and some didn't make it on their last mission..." So, that's how it was. Romulus grew sadder.

"That means, we can blow this whole facility into the air." They all faced Romulus and his wild idea. Patty nudged him. "How do you want to do that?" He smirked. "The first time around, when I escaped, I saw many other rooms with different purposes. There is a huge warehouse with explosives deeper inside. You will lead Zeev and Asset out of this compound and I will destroy this hell hole."

The white-haired protested. "Are you expecting me to put trust into a human?! Are you crazy? If you wouldn't block me, I would end her, here and now." Romulus stood up and walked over to Asset-751 growling out of anger... looming over him. "Try me! You won't touch a hair on her! Is that clear?!"

Romulus was the dominant werewolf, out of the two. Asset had no other choice but to obey. Out of nowhere, Zeev stumbled and Patty threw herself to him, so he wouldn't fall to the hard concrete floor. She took off her jacket and tried to cover him. They all needed new clothes for the outside winter weather.

Romulus was aware, that his prison mate knew, where to find such things. He threw Zeev over his shoulder and Asset showed them the way. They took what they needed and then Romulus pushed Patty as first into the vent, which led to the cave tunnels, through which they infiltrated the secret facility in the first place.

He ordered Asset to carry Zeev and follow her to the outside. Left alone he sighed. He never expected to voluntarily come to the place, that he hated the most. If it wasn't for Patty, he would avoid it, but now he had the chance to destroy his tragic past and move on with a huge blast.

He closed the ventilation door and made his way to the storage with all the explosives. He checked the time from the wristwatch he kept around his neck, so he knew the time. They should be already at the surface. He gave them ten more minutes, to go as far from this extinct volcano as possible.

He readied the ventilation for his escape. Romulus stacked everything into one place and searched for a bomb with a timer. Time for the boom-boom... Romulus smirked menacingly and then disappeared into the shaft.



Patty stuck her head out of the cave hole and looked around. She wanted to make sure, nobody was lurking for them and when everything was fine, she signaled to Asset, that he could bring Zeev out.

The white-haired was growling at her but stopped in mid-growl as soon, as he was outside. He never got the chance to see the world outside the facility. The forest with the snowflakes silently falling to the ground, muffling every sound. The snow blanket was as white, as his hair. He was mesmerized. The dark forest held the secrecy of the government very well.

Patty was glad about the heavy snowfall because their tracks will be covered in no time. She pointed her finger in a direction. Asset was back to growling at her again. Zeev wasn't amused. "Shut up and follow her!" The white-haired one was taken aback. Why were all listening to her? To a human... a female nonetheless.

They hurried up but at last, the ground shook under their feet and they all fell on their knees and hands. "Romulus!" Patty shouted out and swirled in the direction they came from. Even Zeev and Asset-751 did and they waited.

A figure was walking their way. "Quick, HIDE!" Patty whispered. The person slowly walked wobbly over... A trail of blood was left behind and both werewolves in Patty's presence could sniff that out.
