Chapter 32:

Blizzard

My Other Half

Their eyes met in a long gaze. Ivaylo was patiently waiting for her answer. Paetyn was hesitant. He had his girlfriend standing by outside. Did he develop a weird kink for humans? "Isn't this called cheating?! She is waiting for you outside..."

Ivaylo was appalled to hear such things. "She is the daughter of the neighbors, who live near my parents. The correct term would be a stalker. I never had any relationship with her, she just won't let me live in peace. Trust me! From now on, anything you ask me, I will tell you just the truth."

Ivaylo's heart began to race and with both hands reached out to Paetyn's face, cupping it in between them together with her hair. Gently stroking her cheek and entangling his fingers in her long, silky locks. The fragrance of her scent was rubbing into his palms together with the warmth of her body.

It took her by surprise, as he did that and she slightly jerked her head to the back. Ivaylo swallowed a lump of anxiousness and began to pull Paetyn closer to his face, tilting it moderately to the right. Paetyn knew, what he was about to do and she shut her eyes tight.

Ivaylo found her shyness cute and smiled shortly, before connecting his lips with hers. He remembered the sweetness and softness of them from that fateful night, as he almost gave up... He asked just for one kiss and since he didn't want to overstep the boundaries he set before, he released his grip on her face.

Ivaylo's hands slipped down from her neck to the shoulder and lower, until her forearms. His head with flattened ears sank down, leaning against her shoulder with his hair following the gravitation, hiding his flushed face and a happy smile. Paetyn was flustered the same way as him. She noticed, how he was wagging his tail.

It was the first time, she saw HIM to do that and her eyes fell to that broad back of his. She made a decision, to give him a little trust but still keep her guard up. Paetyn raised her hands, wrapped them around his head, and began to nuzzle it.

That pleasantly surprised Ivaylo and he quickly straightened up, pulling her into his arms, making her sit in his lap and squeezing her tightly. He buried his nose into her hair, taking in as much of her scent, as possible.

It was a dream come true moment for Ivaylo. For so long time, his body desired to hold her so close to him, before, he just didn't listen. Now it felt like the whole world stopped and a heavy burden got lifted from his chest, making him relax and releasing the hormone of happiness into his bloodstream.

Paetyn slightly turned to the cuddled-up Beastman. She could feel the heartbeat on her upper back and how his muscles became less tense. He was telling the truth about his intentions. She closed her eyes and also leaned onto him. "I fell for you..." Ivaylo whispered out. Paetyn was left speechless.

After a while, Ivaylo released her from his hug, grabbed the blanket again, and wrapped her back into a burrito. She was confused. At first, she thought, he was under the impression that she was cold when they arrived, but now why? "I am not cold. I don't need this..."

"I know. I just want to make sure, the blanket will soak in your scent, so I will have a peaceful sleep later on." Ivaylo revealed another of his secrets to her. Paetyn blushed by the information. She understood, why he fell asleep next to her that day. She smiled under her nose.

She kept the blanket around her body and followed him to the living room. He listened to the sounds and was sure, that Rose left the residential building. He reached up to the shelf to fetch her phone, returning it to Paetyn.

"I am sorry! I was wrong, but I had to do this to buy some time. I really wanted to explain and confess my feelings. You can do now... whatever you want now." Ivaylo handed over the phone into her palm with a sad smile. He thought she would call Kay immediately and leave.

Originally she had a plan to spend Christmas Eve with Kay at his bar and then go home with him. She looked out of the window. A snow blizzard was raging through the city. The visibility was almost none. Her eyes glanced at Ivaylo's narrowed eyes, which looked upset. Maybe she saw a sparkle of a tear...

He didn't want to let go of her, but he knew, that if Ivaylo wanted to gain her trust, he needed to let her do as she pleased. He couldn't restrain her anymore. Paetyn turned her phone back on. Ivaylo tensed up and bit his lip.

Paetyn noticed and froze for a second. Ivaylo stood there silently, fist clenched, and stared into the ground. He didn't want to manipulate the situation for himself. He left her free will, to choose what she would like to do now. Ivaylo won't protest if she leaves for the bar.

A string of messages from Kay pinged for quite some time. He was worried sick for her and she sent him just a simple apology. "I am sorry, my battery died. Also, I apologize, I can't come because the blizzard is too strong and it might be dangerous to travel. I may get stuck in the snowdrift." Those were common, where she lived.

"Do you mind if I stay here tonight?" Ivaylo's eyes sparkled with happiness. Paetyn sat down at the window sitting area. Ivaylo made them some tea and then grabbed her into his arm, wrapping them in one blanket. Cuddled up at the window, they looked out at the raging snowflakes racing each other on the street.

This was an even greater gift for him... to reciprocate his affection. Ivaylo was sure, to not let this chance slip. He has to find a way to make it work...

Kay lowered his phone onto the wood surface of the bar after he read Paetyn's message and sighed out of sadness. He leaned into his paw and looked at the plate in front of him. Kay reached into his pocket taking out a small box with a ring...
