Awakening

"What the hell, what happened, where am I?"

I opened my eyes to see a clear blue sky, and the tops of dozens of trees surrounding me. Why the hell am I in a forest, the last thing I remember... Wait, I can't remember anything. I sit up and immediately feel a sharp pain shoot throughout my body, ah fuck why does my entire body ache. It feels like every cell in my body is on fire, I've never felt pain like this before, I can't think of anything that could have caused this.  I reach into my pockets to find three items a cell phone, a wallet and a vape. I open the wallet and find a drivers license, Chandler appears to be my name, as long as this wallet belongs to me that is. I also find a credit card and $10, as well as a piece of cardboard that has some anime characters on it. When looking at one of the characters I finally remember something.

"Koneko"

When I saw the anime girl with the white hair on the picture, the only thing I thought of was Koneko. I could remember that she was my Waifu, but sadly nothing else came to mind. I turned on the phone to find out that I had no service and apparently the time was 9:35 pm, but the Sun was still high in the sky, could I really have gotten that far from my home without remembering anything? I was able to unlock the phone because luckily there was no password, and the wallpaper was another picture of Koneko. I put the phone down because it only has forty percent of its battery remaining and I should save it for when I actually have service. I try to get up but the pain intensifies and I give up. I take off my shirt and find out that my entire body is bruised and scarred. What the hell happened to me, when I take another look at my shirt it is also torn up. Was I attacked by something or someone and left in these woods to die? Whilst trying to figure out my situation, I decide to take a hit of my vape, and immediately memories start coming back to me. I remember that I'm from Florida and that I was on a trip up to Ohio to visit my friends. Did the plane crash, am I the only survivor? At that moment I heard the sound of someone coming from behind me. I look back to see a horse?! And a wagon?! Where the fuck am I?!

"Hey! There's someone lying on the ground up ahead!"

I can hear the deep voice of the man that is driving the carriage. I'm still seriously confused by the fact that a horse drawn wagon is about to move past me. As they draw near I try to sit up.

"Oh shit and he's alive!"

"Are you serious, why would someone be taking a nap out here in the middle of the forest?"

As they pull up I look at the driver, this guy looks like a character from an anime. He's completely shredded and he's wearing a metal armor plate that is covering his entire torso. Now I'm even more confused, why in the world is there a knight driving a wagon through this forest, where the hell am I?

"Hey buddy, what are you doing taking a nap out here"

I can't think of an answer, I'm still trying to process the thing with the horses 

"Hey dude you alright, can you talk?"

"Maybe he's deaf, he does look pretty beat up"

I hear the sound of a young girl come from the wagon, I turn to look at her and what I see shocks me to the point that I fall backwards and everything goes dark.

I open my eyes and I see a beautiful girl staring back at me. Her eyes are golden, it's almost as if they can be stars in the night sky. Her skin looks soft, it's a pale white color and there is not a single blemish to be found on her face. Her lips and nose are small and they go perfectly with her small overall figure. She appears to be about 13-14 years old. Her hair is as white as snow and it flows all the way down to the bench she is sitting on. She is the most beautiful girl I've ever seen that wasn't on a screen, however the one thing that stands out from all others is her ears. She has two fluffy ears the same color as her hair, right on top of her head. What the fuck? This can't be what I think it is, there has to be some other explanation for this.

"Excuse me, are you listening, can you even hear me?"

I snap out of my trance and realize this cutie is talking to me. Now I am an otaku so I'm not particularly good in social situations, but even so this girls beauty would catch anyone off guard.

"I'm sorry, I spaced out for a moment" I replied

"No, there's no reason to be sorry, you obviously got hurt pretty bad I just wanted to see if you were alright" she said

Almost as if she caused it the pain returned to me the moment she commented on my injuries. The pain was back but it wasn't as intense, did this girl treat my wounds or something?

"Yeah thanks, I should be okay it's just I feel pain all over my body but, it seems my wounds are healing they don't hurt as bad as when I was lying on the ground earlier." I told her

"Well that's because we gave you a simple potion, we weren't sure if you were gonna make it so we didn't want to waste anything good." She tells me

Did I just hear that correctly? Did she really just say potion, like from a game or anime?

"Wait I'm sorry, did you just say you gave me a potion, like a magic potion?" I asked

"Yes that's typically what someone means when they say potion." She answers

I must be dreaming, or losing my mind. I'm pretty sure potions never existed before, now where in the world did this plane end up crashing?

"Hey is he awake yet?"

"Yeah, it seems like he's going to be alright."

As the girl turned to talk to the man driving I could see something extending from her backside. It was a tail, a real tail! As I was staring at her tail, trying to make sure I was really seeing it she spoke.

" Hey quit staring at me, pervert!"

I quickly snapped back into focus and quickly explained myself

"No, no I'm sorry it's not what it looks like, it's just kind of hard to believe you have a tail, I wanted to make sure I wasn't imagining it!"

"Well of course I have a tail, I'm a demi-human, specifically I'm a catgirl."

That word bounced around in my mind for what felt like ages. Catgirl. Catgirl. Did she really just say she's a catgirl, like an actual catgirl.

"You must have damaged your head and are experiencing some memory loss." she said

"No, well yes I am having trouble remembering a lot of things but, where I'm from there weren't any demi-humans" I replied 

"Right now we are in the country of Talum, a large island nation in the Southern Ocean. This is a demi-human controlled country so you won't see many humans or elves here."

After hearing her explanation the only conclusion I could come to is that I'm in another world. I can't believe I'm actually in another world, not only that but this world has catgirls!

"I'm sorry I have yet to introduce myself, my name is Charlotte Capell, the youngest daughter of Duke Edward Capell, and the man driving is Joey, he is my escort for this trip.” She told me

"You can just call me JoJo, nice to meet ya!" Joey yelled from up front

After looking at him again I noticed that Joey is also a demi-human and has what appear to be bear ears on his head. Damn though, this cute catgirl has a noble background so my already slim chance with her just launched into outer space.

"My name is Chandler, it's nice to meet you both."

"Well Chandler can you please tell us what you were doing out here that caused you to suffer injuries like that, I thought that you would have been fighting monsters but you didn't seem to have any equipment with you. Why would you come all the way out here so unprepared?" Charlotte asks

Well I guess this world has monsters, it seems like I got the full Isekai treatment and landed in a fantasy world full of monsters and magic.

"You see, the fact is I don't really remember how I ended up here. The last thing I recall doing is boarding a plane to go visit some friends." I answered

"What's a plane?" She asks 

Oh yeah I should have figured the technology here would be pretty simple. We are riding in a wagon being pulled by a horse after all.

"It's a vehicle used for long distance transportation where I come from"

I spare most of the details because I doubt she'll believe in some kind of flying machine.

"Interesting where are you from exactly, if you don't mind me asking?" She inquired 

"I'm from a country called The United States of America, I don't know exactly but I'm pretty sure it's quite far from here."

"I've never heard of such a place, and you say there were no demi-humans in this country?"

"Actually there were no demi-humans in any of the countries near where I lived, they were only ever in works of fiction. I've actually never thought I would have the chance to meet a beautiful catgirl like you before."

Charlotte responded with an embarrassed look on her face "W-w-well that's odd..."

In the middle of her response we felt the wagon stop. We looked up front to see what the cause was and Jojo had an unpleasant expression on his face. About 50 feet in front of us was a pack of five large wolves that jumped out onto the path to stop us.

"Not a huge deal, I should be able to take care of this lot in a couple minutes, you two just stay put until I return" explains Jojo

He jumps off the wagon and grabs a giant sword and starts walking towards the wolves.

Charlotte doesn't appear to be too worried and neither did Jojo so I'm sure these wolves are just weak monsters, but still it's the first time I've ever seen a monster so I can't help but feel uneasy.

"Well this is why I have an escort none of the monsters in this forest are very strong, but I'm not much of a fighter myself."

Jojo looks strong as hell so I'm sure he'll have no problem taking care of these wolves. We can hear the sounds of a sword cutting flesh and wolves whimpering, so I assume Jojo is handling the situation well.

"Oh that's it, I was hoping for more of a fight it's been way to long since a had anything fun!"

Just then we could hear heavy footsteps followed by a loud, deep growl. I look out and see a huge wolf standing at about twice the height of the 6'7" Jojo.

"Oh hell yeah, now this should be a fight!"

I look at Charlotte and I can see her break a sweat with a worried face.
