Chapter 44:

Bar Night

My Other Half

Kay ran up to Paetyn all smiles, offering her his index finger. She took it and he swirled her around observing her new pretty clothes. Picking her high up into the air like a child, laughing, and giving her a warm Doberman hug.

Ivaylo wasn't really happy about it, but until Kay crossed that invisible line, he would allow him to be in Paetyn's presence. He didn't want to spoil Paetyn's mood. She looked so content right now. Nonetheless, she was already fully his, heart and body.

Kay was bending over to put her down when he spotted THAT! He brushed her hair to the side. "WHO DID THAT TO YOU?!" Paetyn immediately knew, what he meant. That bruise on the neck. It was now fully developed and looked kind of bad but it wasn't. It didn't even hurt.

She reached out to Kay's snout and pulled it to her face rubbing her cheek on it. "It's nothing." Kay didn't want to listen. Ivaylo sighed. "I did it... accidentally." Kay saw red and Marsh just watched the show sipping on his fourth beer.

Paetyn stepped in to prevent a fight. She wrapped her arms around Kay's forearm. "I am fine! Trust me, please!" Ivaylo nonchalantly sat on the bar stool. "Yesterday night. I let myself be carried away and bit her in the heat of the moment. It wasn't my intention." Suddenly the bar went silent. You could hear a pin drop.

"You did WHAT TO HER?!" Paetyn again pulled his arm. "Don't forget, I am already an adult. I didn't even notice it, when he bit me, so just let it go." Kay turned to Paetyn, scrutinizing her puppy eyes, she was making at him. The animalistic Beastman temperament began to cool off.

Drunken Marsh couldn't leave the opportunity to throw a jab at Kay. "You are flipping out over a bruise, but what about the dislocated shoulder you gave her when you tried to get chummy with Paetyn?" That again! He will remind him about it till his death. Paetyn shot a glare at Marsh. "

"I will go to freshen up and you boys, keep calm! I don't want to run out of the stall into a fight. Behave, I will be listening!" All three nodded in unison. After she left for the toilet, Kay walked behind the bar ready to pour a whiske for Ivaylo.

He stopped him, just something nonalcoholic would do. Kay couldn't believe, he wanted to drink a "kids' beverage". He remembered the time, he offered him juice when he was drunk as a mongrel. "I don't need that anymore. I am drunk on love right now." Kay growled under his nose.

Marsh chimed in slurring his words. "You can finally get rid of that thing around your neck." pointing his finger at him. "Her tiny parking spot already has a car in it." Both Ivaylo and Kay looked at him with disdain. How dare he talk about Paetyn like that. The word "behave" popped into their minds. *SELF CONTROL* Right, they need to obey.

Kay pulled a ring on a chain from under his shirt. Showing it off on his claw. It was that exact one, he planned to propose to Paetyn. He was holding to it in the hope, that he would get a chance, but since Ivaylo took their relationship to the next level, he doubted it would come to it now.

"I will keep it forever and ever. And it's none of your business." Growling at Marsh and hiding the ring back under his shirt. Marsh just snorted and sipped the beer. "Pathetic!" Ivaylo watched their exchange in silence. Despite seeing Kay as a rival in love, he felt bad for him. It could be him in Kay's place right now. He was glad, he could snatch her the right time before she walked into the bar that fateful night.

"I am sorry..." Ivaylo blurted out to Kay. The Doberman pushed a juice towards him. "You should rather control yourself next time. I won't be lenient to you if you keep making new bruises on her. She is very fragile." Good, that he didn't see the rest, which was hiding under her clothes.

Marsh was taking a breath to say something again about the "fragile" part. Paetyn stopped him right, as she walked out of the door. "Nah-ah! Shut up!" She turned to Kay, who crouched down to her eye level. She took his head into her palms and tried to assure him. "I am fine. Ivaylo loves me and he would never hurt me intentionally. So trust him... and me."

Ivaylo's jealousy was boiling. Kay was too close to her. Paetyn noticed. "You too! Calm down!" Flustered, he took a sip from his juice. Marsh again blurting drunken nonsense. "Love in the air!" Paetyn just rolled her eyes.

Kay took the empty beer glass from Marsh. "You had enough for tonight! Oh, right, when you mention love. You should also find someone to settle down with. Changing women like socks is unhealthy." Ivaylo looked at him with disgust on his face. "He does? That's nasty!"

Marsh was spreading his arms into the air. "Nothing can be done! The ladies love me and since there are not many human males around, I am popular! So why not make use of it?!" Unbelievable! Ivaylo and Kay stared him down and both disagreed with him.

Paetyn was used to Marshe's antics and beliefs. Human society right now worked in that way. In recent decades, not many males were born, so they acted like kings.

They all kept it up late into the night and then Ivaylo took his beloved Paetyn back home. Walking the streets hand in hand, felt so refreshing. He now had someone precious by his side and that made him happy and content. The restaurant experience wasn't that bad neither.

Now, he just waited till they reached home and he will take her into the bed again. This time he planned to be very cautious and gentler with her. As they reached the apartment, he swooped her into his arms with a mischievous grin and walked up the stairs.
