I was ashamed of my narrow-mindedness and witnessed the grandeur of Akira's ambitions and character.

Yes, this is a perfect opportunity to settle things with Eric, my former self. And since it's an official battle, no one can complain.

Isn't this a chance to prove that Akira, whom I underestimated, is more capable than he thinks? To show that, despite any circumstances, one can rise from the depths through effort and wisdom. That life isn't just about cursing the world. I'll make sure to demonstrate this during the opportunity.

"Akira, do you think we have a chance?"

"Actually, no. But I want to give him a taste of his own medicine, just like I did with Chopin."

"Got it. I have a strategy too. I'm not sure if we can win, but let's try."

We fist-bump. Though our bodies are male and female, and we're romantically involved, in this moment, it feels like the camaraderie among men.

Throughout our adventures, a trust akin to that between comrades in arms has developed between us.

The news that we were challenging the top pair spread quickly throughout the school.

"Too reckless," "stupid in a bad way," and other negative opinions were flying around, along with positive ones like "manly" and "maybe they can win."

Everyone is just too opinionated!

I decided to reserve a small conference room at the school for our strategy meeting, a place protected against eavesdropping, perfect for confidential discussions.

"I spoke too boldly, but to be honest, we don’t really stand a chance," Akira stated nonchalantly.

All I could do was laugh.

"But," I continued, "there's definitely a gap in skill, but it's not like we have zero chance of winning."

"How so?"

"We'll exploit the opponent's weaknesses to gain an advantage. It’s a basic tactic in any game."

I drew two whole notes on the whiteboard, connecting them with a tie.

"Eric probably hasn’t practiced long tones," I guessed.

Akira looked puzzled.

"Where did you get that info? Well, never mind. So, you mean his breath doesn’t last long. That means... Oh!"

It seemed Akira had caught on.

"The duration of his magical effects is short, and his long-range attack power is weaker. So, we should engage in long-range rather than close combat."

"Exactly. And Eric’s partner, Clara, will play a crucial role in this."
