Chapter 7:

Chapter 7: The Hunt

Can I Even Trust The Level System?

The Queen and Princess perked up at my question. Meaning that they were told about us being here. While the King gave me this long and cold thousand yard stare. That is totally unsettling.

But how did they get that message across? I didn't even see him do anything that would look like him transmitting a message. Magic is so confusing.

"So you've fallen from the sky? Ho, ho, we've dealt with your kind from other worlds before. I should have known from the strange attire." The King responded with a more forced laugh.

Other.. Meaning we aren't the first. I can’t tell if that is reassuring to know or bad news for us. On top of that they aren’t too worried about me having attacked them. Is that a regular interaction with the other people that came from other worlds?

"Would you also happen to have received some sort of system with a screen that only appears to you?" Asked the Princess.

"Yes absolutely! Is there anything you could do to help us or some sort of information you can give?" Charlotte asked.

"Honey, you can correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't there something about their stats and abilities?" The Queen asked the King.

"Ho, yes. You know it better than me so you can explain it to them." The King responded by handing the floor over to her.

"Well it seems to be that whatever your starting ability is that you've been given will reflect your statistics. Or maybe it was the other way around. That's not important, but if you were given a strong ability the lower your beginning statistics would be to balance it out." The Queen explained while scanning our group.

"Hey Rin, that sounds just like you." Ichino said, bringing their attention back to me.

"Tsk."

*NEW ABILITY UNLOCKED*

*YOU RECEIVED: HUNT*

*YOU ARE CURRENTLY BEING HUNTED*

"Oh, he didn't like that." The Princess said, trying to hold back a laugh.

I hate you, I hate you, I hate you. What the hell even is this ability? And if it's true that someone's decided to hunt me could the system narrow it down. This massive room has nearly a hundred people in here.

"I don't necessarily think that's accurate." I said, trying to put up a front.

"Oh? How else would you describe it then? I don't know if our cultures are different but clicking your tongue in a situation as specific as this means you didn't like something." The Princess responded, seeming amused by everything happening.

"Sweetie, tone it back please." The Queen said.

*WARNING*

*EXTREME EMOTIONAL OVERFLOW FROM THE HUNTER*

The system didn't even need to tell me. I could feel it in my bones that someone was experiencing extreme bloodlust. I was practically being strangled with fear making everything feel extremely heavy as if someone increased the gravity around me.

"Please excuse my daughter's behavior. Could you please tell me your name?" The Queen asked me.

"Rin. Rin Hori." I said with a bow.

"Rin.. Just how low are your beginning statistics if you don't mind me asking." She asked, placing a finger against her lips.

"Pretty low I would say." I responded.

“How low exactly?”

“Uhh.. Zero low.”

*YOU HAVE BEEN REGISTERED AS THE TARGET FOR THE HUNT*

FUCK, I just keep digging my grave deeper and deeper. There's nothing I can do about it now since I have no idea who the hunter is.

"Well, isn't this interesting. We've never seen anyone with a strong enough ability to warrant everything starting at zero. Before now we didn't even know it could go below one." She said turning to the King.

I mean we have a few of us that have stats that started at zero but that means Reflective Base is insane. I mean it would make sense if when I copied a person's stats and abilities they would stack. This would mean I started out pretty overpowered.

"Ho, ho, unfortunately we haven't discovered a way to send you home. However, we have everything possible to accommodate your stay here in our kingdom until then. Ho, ho, ho, I can assign each of you a maid to lead you to a spare room in the castle. We can discuss what to do next at a later date. Until then I believe some leisure time is long overdue for you." The King said as he rose from his throne.

Once he was done it was like magic. A maid for every one of us appeared right next to us introducing themselves to us. To everyone besides me.

“Seems no one wants to accompany Rin.” The Princess said as she walked towards me. “How about you take one of my maids.” She said, snapping her fingers.

Within an instant a maid appeared before us on her knee with her head bowed before us.

"Hello, you can call me Kimi. We have been tasked with doing absolutely anything to satisfy your needs." She said without raising her head.

"O-oh hi, my name's Rin Hori. But you can just use my first name." I said looking between Kimi and the Princess.

"If you wouldn't mind following me Master Rin. I'll be leading you to your room."

I don't know how but I made myself uncomfortable by the fact I like hearing her call me master. Ew, I feel filthy just thinking about it like that.

"Is something the matter?" Kimi asked whilst leading me through the castle.

"Nope."

Kimi was an absolute work of art. Dignified in every aspect of her mannerisms tied in a pretty bow that is her uniform. Not only that but her hair being put up in a bun like all the other maids was a perfect touch. Even if her’s is messy compared to all of the other maids I’ve seen. Her brown hair and glistening amber eyes were a mesmerizing sight.

Everything she did held the allure of the serious girl type. Which isn't usually my type of route that I choose in dating sims but for her I would run that route immediately.

Yes I play dating sims… Let me live.

*ESCAPED*

I guess I'm far enough away from the hunter now. Meaning that I can cross off the maids and my classmates as possible hunters. I have a feeling I shouldn't eliminate the royal family just yet either. Since any of them could have a reason for wanting to hunt me down.

"This right here will be your room for the time being." She said not even looking me in the eye as she spoke to me.

Kimi led me inside of the room exposing the pure life of luxury. This room was as big as the college classroom I just came from with a bed that looked like the size of my dorm room.

"And on the bed I have set aside some clothes that I believe would fit you. Please try them on and tell me if anything doesn't fit right. I'll have them re-stitched to your measurements immediately."

When the hell did she have the time to do any of this?

On the bed she had laid out a black dress pants coupled with a charcoal grey button up shirt. Next to it was a black tailcoat jacket that was finished with some dress shoes on the floor in front of the bed.

This would usually come off as funeral attire back home, but everything is so nice that I bet it would look clean and sophisticated.

"Are you going to be watching me change?" I asked looking back at her.

"Yes. I need to see if it fits your build and if it suits your style."

Just one awkward situation to another I see.

There didn't seem to be any room for negotiations so I tried to get dressed as soon as possible.

"There's a mirror right over there that you can use to see if it suits your liking." She gestured to the wall on my right.

I was absolutely impressed with the clothing she had picked out for me. Not only did all of the pieces fit perfectly on me but they were also beyond comfortable. The only thing I didn't know how I felt about it was that it made me look like the next King. Feeling like a prince felt nice but it didn't feel like it suited me but I just couldn't complain with the results.

"Does everything fit?" She asked, studying me.

"Yeah, everything fits perfectly and on top of that it's really comfortable. I’m impressed."

Kimi started to blush a little but her facial expression didn't falter from her serious face.

"Thank you for your kind words. I had made these clothes myself for if her majesty ever bore a prince. Seeing you I thought that I could at least put them to good use."

"That's really impressive. Do you also make clothing for the other members of the royal family?"

“In fact I do. My family has made their clothing for generations.” She said with a flash of a smile. “I should take my leave for now.” She left without another word.

I turned back around to admire her handiwork in the mirror.

"I’m happy to see that our world’s attire suits you." The Princess said as she entered my room.

Seeing her now without all of the pressure and anxiety I could finally take in how beautiful she looks. From the freckles on her face to the flow of her long crimson hair. Looking at her you would be none the wiser that she is dangerous. A deadly combination but knowing it up front it won’t catch me off guard again.

"Holy shit! Your highness, when did you get here?" I asked bowing before her.

"Raise your head please. I hate the bowing thing. I just wanted to drop in here and tell you a few things that you might want to know."

Well seeing that the system didn’t go off again then that means I can rule out the Princess has the hunter.

"Being?"

"My parents are going to try and steal your system."
