Chapter 9: King reborn

The planet Star is home to many people of different species, The Abyssal was not one of them. Creatures that hail from beyond with tremendous strength seek to rule over all creation, Over the years their strength flourished, they were a proud species, Conquering planets and galaxies as they went, until they were matched against an overwhelming opponent who nearly wiped them out. The abyssal was left scattered, all leadership had been crushed and dismantled during that one siege, to think such a powerful race could be wiped out so quickly. The last remnants of the royal family of Abyssal however, were able to rally and unite under one goal, and so under the legion of the First King they would wage war on this new planet, on one Kingdom in particular. When the Queen of Light lead the raid and was successful in a counterattack, she was able to outmaneuver the king by splitting off from the main force, taking only Winter with her who was a commander at the time, and lead the charge on him. In which the king would fall at last, with his grasp over his own life disappearing, he saw Onyx, who had survived miraculously. In a last-ditch effort, the king had bestowed his power onto Onyx, giving him a strange new dark power and the king asked him to regrow the Abyss, about the secret that lay dormant in the kingdom of light, and most importantly, to get revenge for his fallen king, Onyx agreed to uphold his lieges last request. But fate had other plans for the young abyss warrior, only a portion of it had been transferred into him, from what is known the rest took on a shape and was stored somewhere only Onyx knows and has access to, “Onyx had been absorbing the first kings strength slowly, building it into his own strength in silence, holding back from any form of attack until Draksis offered him an alliance,” Eren pauses, getting up and walking back to her desk, “ it seems he wants to fulfill his king's wish now,” Eren recalls opening up a map of Star. I hadn’t asked Eren, but what was the kingdom's secret? Why did the Abyssal king and Onyx both want it, I don’t ask Eren, I doubt she’d tell me something as big as that now. I make my way back to Star, to fight Onyx I would need one last thing, A ring with a certain power embedded into it, a power that would protect my light from Onyx's corruption. Eren had relayed its location to me on the map before I left, a cavern inside a mountain east of the Kingdom of Light, It was a tall mountain, on the other side would be the ocean, trees surrounded the side closest to the kingdom, which made no difference in finding the entry. Small animals roamed around the trees and grass. The entrance had a strange black stone covering it with the gray stone of the mountain acting as an outline. Engraved into it were lines that swirled around it, The entire cave was made of the strange material, it opens up into a small central area with branching paths, Eren said I would have to take to the right, except the end of the left path can be seen, the strange stone slowly transitions back into normal stone as if whatever built it never got around to finishing, moss and other plant life grew along the ceiling, a pedestal sat at its center with a strange object floating above it, a low pitched sound can be heard coming from its direction, the sound felt…familiar? Something about it was tempting but I disregard it and move on. The right path lead to a similar room, only the ring was displayed on a hand made of the strange material. The ring lay resting on the ring finger, it came off rather easily. I could feel the power that had been embedded into but wearing it made no difference. The sun had begun to set by the time I left the cave, which was weird as it was early morning when I went in. I was also no longer near Luminos, before me was somewhere I haven’t been to, like Luminos it’s one of the many Kingdoms on this planet, north-east to the Light was the Treasure Kingdom. I entered from the residential area, buildings lined either side of the cobblestone road, the buildings in the front were oriented in a pattern, stores at the bottom, homes up top. Though it seemed some of the taller buildings were either fully stores or hotels, roads branched off to the side that seemed to lead to the residential area, some of the buildings closer to the edge were more torn and broken down than the rest…huh, the more you moved inward the less the damage seemed to be visible. I know a little about how the current rulers great grandmother was a tyrannical ruler, the kingdom was plunged into dark times, many people were forced onto the street, the queen would then start a war with the kingdoms of Light and Shadow, one that last 45 years. From the looks of it the damage was so immense that even the previous Queen couldn’t fix it all in her reign, leaving the rest to the current ruler. Up ahead a crowd of people can be seen headed in one direction, "hey where’s everyone going did something happen?” I ask the nearest person, he kept walking so I followed after. " the minister has called everyone to the main plaza for an announcement, you must be new here if you haven’t heard of it, it was announced yesterday,” Im told as he walks off, I’m sure I got some time to spare. The enclosed streets open to a large plaza filled with people, the plaza seemed to be the marketplace, it was large with many stalls set up around the sides with all kinds of things; lots of people had gathered and stood around, talking to each other while they waited, some of the people wore clean clothes while some looked like they hadn’t changed in months, at the head of the plaza was possibly the main building. It had steps leading up to it where a man standing in front of a podium stood, he wore a simple black suit, he seemed rather old, his gray hair neatly patted down as his brown eyes scanned the crowd as people settled down, he must be the minster that guy mentioned. The sound of talking died down to whispers as the Minister rose his hand for silence, "Good afternoon Citizens of the Treasure Kingdom, I thank you all for making the time to come down here for this announcement, “ the announcement was boring, something about a missing relic that's important to the kingdom and how they're working hard to find it, “ We urge anyone who needs help to head down to the shelter where you will be given everything you need. I also regret to inform you all that there has been no new information regarding the current state of rebuilding, the best I can do is reassure you all that our Queen will find a solution to our problem, as her predecessor did, please continue to have faith,” the minister was practically begging, the tone of his voice had gone from stern and confident to broken and unsure, the people seemed to understand though considering how they all started to head back home, some people heading over to the shelter. I too was about to head back but I notice the minster waving to me, it would be rude to ignore him, he must’ve seen me in the crowd. “ What brings the King of the Light to the Treasure kingdom! Though it seems you’ve decided to visit at not quite the best time,” The minister says his voice still showing hints of unease, shaking my hand laughing lightly, “I'm only temporary king, I have no plan in taking position fully any time soon,” I tell him laughing half-heartedly along with him, “but I’d like to know about this relic you spoke about before, and about whats happening here?” I say switching the subject before he could press me further about my situation as a king. His face had straightened at the mention of the missing relic, “ I think it would be best if we spoke somewhere more private,”
