Chapter 41:

That is not selfish.

The Lifeless Supermoon: A Fateful Encounter

"But that day I saw you, standing here, the place where my father died."

"Well...", she looked away.

"When I saw you, I thought to myself that I can't let anyone else die in this place. I can't let anyone have such pain. My reflexes kicked in, and I rushed to save you."

She didn't know what to do.

"This is a place of memory for me, and if I saw someone die out of agony in this place, how can I visit this place again if I need mental support? I know that sounds selfish..."

"That is not selfish..."

"Thats why I decided to help you and support you. Coincidentally, this was the place where my parents met, and this is also the place where I met you.", Kanako said, jokingly.

Ayane's face went red. But she was surprised, it was the first time kanako talked about him this much about her.

But he then also realised what he just said, and got embarrassed himself.

"So... if you want to vent out to me, it's perfectly okay. I will be by your side. You have been through a lot, after all."

Kanako looked ahead to the seas, which was lit by the moonlight, when he heard the rustling of clothes as Ayane sat beside him, touching his shoulders and leaning on him.

"You definitely have been through more that that, but you don't tell. It must've been hard for you too."

"She... saw through me...", Kanako wondered.

"Can I stay like this for some more time?", she asked, resting her head on his shoulders.

"S-sure.", Kanako said, embarrassed.
