A Shocking Rondo II

“This is bad! Eden kill him now!” Lumi shouted but before I could have even responded an explosion occurred blowing me and Lumi several meters back. “Ahhhh!” I shouted as I flew through the air, eventually hitting the ground. That was bad, I could’ve died if it weren’t for the nanomachines. I slowly stood up, feeling the pain all over my body. Where’s Lumi? Ah there is. She still fine. I thought as I saw Lumi in the corner of my eye getting up unscathed.

Now then… what happened? I looked at where we were before. I focused my eyes through the cloud of dust.

A few moments later the dust had settled then… I saw it. Sameal, that humanoid wolf of his, covered in lightning from the feet up. It’s as if he’s using the electricity as an armor. “How the hell am I going to fight against that!?” I exclaimed. I don’t have any more blood to use. “Eden!” Lumi shouted as she ran towards me.

“Are you okay?” I asked when she finally got to my position.

“Yeah…Eden, I’ll take him on.” She replied.

“I’ll leave it to you; I don’t have any more blood to use.” I added.

“Thanks.” She responded.

But then. “Owooooo!” Sameal howled as loud as the ear can hear.

“What is he doing!?” I exclaimed as I turned my gaze onto him but then in the next moment a large number of pools made out of that black goo from yesterday had filled the entire surface of the crater except from the spot where we were both standing.

This is the thing from yesterday! I thought as hordes and hordes of wolves rose from the goo. When the wolves had completely risen up to the surface, the black goo disappeared. Leaving the entire crater filled with wolves.

“…” I sighed.

“Eden, can you handle all this?” Lumi asked.

“Yeah, for as long as the nanomachines are active I can.” I replied.

“Then… hold on for a few minutes, I’ve got a plan. I’ll carry you out of the crater once I can use it. For now, I need to prepare, so while I’m preparing my attack, I’ll deal with Sameal in the meantime, and please do deal with these beasts.” She explained.

“Got it.” I responded then Lumi rushed over to Sameal while slaying wolves on the way whilst leaving me in this spot.

They don’t seem to be coming to me… I thought as I looked around the area and noticed my hands shaking. It must be the cold getting to me. “…” I sighed.

To be honest, I’m scared but right now, my guilt comes first. So, that’s why. For now, I need to kill. Every single one of them. “Hahahahaha!” I maniacally laughed.

This is all insane but if it means becoming a good person, I don’t care if I get killed! If there are hundreds, thousands, even if there’s a million of them, I’ll kill. I thought as I rushed at the horde.

I start killing each one I see. “Hahahahaahaha!” I was laughing as If I had thrown all reason out the window and let my insticts take over.

Slice, cut, stab, slit, pierce, penetrate, chop, cut up, dice, divide, hash, sever, cleave, cull, lop, amputate.

I didn’t care anymore. About anything. About anyone. Right now, I’m just a bloodthirsty killer. Delivering death to those who stand in my way.

I thought of nothing but to kill.

There’s no choice but to do it. To resolve this situation now, I need to use that. So, right now, I need to prepare it as fast possible. “Sameal!” I shouted as I thrusted my blade towards him. Like earlier, he deflected it but this time, my right arm took a bit of damage because of contact with that electricity of his.

I jumped back a couple meters and quickly glanced behind me. All the beasts that suddenly appeared earlier are all flocking to Eden.

Good, but I’m a bit worried about Eden. If I want her to survive, I need to act fast. First, I need to figure out how to counter him all the while preparing that one. That electricity of his is troublesome. “System Access: Materialize Item #72 from Spatial Storage #1” I voiced a command then a moment later, a sheath for my sword had been equipped in my right waist.

I sheathed my crystal sword and uttered a couple more commands. “Tertiary Armament, Equipment #2” A second later my bow and quiver once again materialized.

“Hooh…” Sameal utters as he sees my bow.

“If we can’t exchange blows, then the simple solution is to not exchange at all, no?” I said as I jumped back further and quickly pulled an arrow from my quiver then aimed at him.

“Ha-ha… you underestimate me.” He said as he reached his claw out to me. What is he doing? Wait… that’s! A moment later a spear made of electricity forms and shoots.

I quickly let my fingers off the string and fired my bow. A moment later both my arrow and that spear both made contact and exploded on impact. I forgot about that. Well… whatever, I just need to buy time!

I breathed in and out then moved as he fired another lightning spear at me.

“Bring it on!” I shouted as I stopped moving and aimed another arrow at him.

I was deep in darkness….

I couldn’t move, all I could do was watch as my body instinctively massacred the large horde of wolves. I felt saddened, guilty, scared, happy.

All sorts of emotions emerge from within me, feeling multiple things at the same time. Right now, it’s as if I’m in a dark room watching what’s happening outside through a screen.

Something’s wrong.

All this bloodshed feels nostalgic. Why does it feel nostalgic? I don’t know. It’s just, something about all of this feels really nostalgic, it’s as if I’m reliving a forgotten past.

Without reason, killing every single living being in sight.

Something about it feels like I’m about to remember something but I can’t.

Not knowing anything and everything. I was just killing for no reason.

Those words pop in my head but I can’t remember.

A forgotten memory, a forgotten past.

I’m confused.

Something about this nostalgic feeling is wrong.

Before all of this, I was just an ordinary human. Not a very good human but I still was one.

“****!” Someone was calling to me.

“Eden!” I snapped out of it and returned to reality and I stopped moving. Huh? What was I? “Eden!” I turn to my right only to see Lumi.

“Ah, yeah…” I replied.

“Come on let’s hurry.” She said as pulled on my arm. I looked down on my clothes. I’m all bloodied up. I looked around my surroundings… The wolves are still there but their numbers are lower now, and… huh? There’s another Lumi still fighting with Sameal.

There’s two Lumi’s? huh? What is happening? I was killing them… Lumi called out to me and is now dragging me somewhere.

This is weird… Nothing about this makes sense. Have I died and gone insane?

I’m tired. I can’t feel anything. I can only see. I think I’m getting sleepy.

I can’t make sense of anything right now. Am I dreaming? Or is this reality? I can’t tell.

It both feels like a dream and real.

Suddenly, my vision starts to darken.

I can’t pass out now. I need to… To what? What was I going to do again? I can’t remember. But I feel like there’s something I need to do. I can’t tell.

There’s only one thing I know right now.

I’m tired.

I feel like I’m going to disappear any second now. None of this feels right.

Is someone there? I can still see but what am I seeing?

I feel really tired.

Right now… I want to sleep.

I don’t want to move.

I don’t want to think.

I don’t want to feel this lingering feeling in my heart…
