Chapter 18:
I saw a portal, so I entered it and I became the hero of prophecy
Seeing Kalina now sleeping soundly made the young man feel calm. Even though the young man understood why Kalina did it, he didn't understand why Kalina did it. In his previous life, the young man had also sacrificed for people he respected and loved, just like Kalina does now.
Unfortunately, all of it would likely end unpleasantly.
“Kalina, Kalina... Why do you keep doing foolish things like this?” whispered the young man while stroking Kalina's head.
“Even though I'm grateful, I also feel sorry to see you always get hurt because of everyone you've saved.”
Then the young man looked back at the Cathedral ceiling and then whispered.
“... At least if you want to live a difficult life like this, you should also look for someone who can stand up and stay by your side. Because if you don't, then one day you will be the person who will experience despair like I was before.” whispered the young man.
Then slowly, the young man removed Kalina's hand that had been hugging him. Carefully, trying not to wake Kalina, the young man then got off his bed and whispered softly.
“Cecilia, I want to talk to you for a moment.” whispered the young man.
In just a few seconds, Cecilia was standing upright in front of the young man, wiping her lips and cheeks full of food crumbs.
“How can you know that I'm still here?” Cecilia asked.
“Now let me ask you. How do you know that Kalina hasn't slept and rested for four days if you're not always watching her?” the young man asked.
“Hmm... true. So what do you want to talk about with me?” Cecilia asked.
“Help me escape from this city.” the young man said.
“Why? Do you think you're someone special? Don't you remember what happened to me since I helped you enter this cursed city? And by the way, I haven't received any payment for my previous services until now.” Cecilia said.
“I... Maybe it's true that right now I can't pay for all the services you've given me since I came to this world. But I swear to you, I will repay you with something more valuable than money and wealth.”
“What do you mean?” Cecilia asked.
“What I mean is that I will free all of you. As I said before, this world is wrong. No, I mean the world order is wrong. Slavery, oppression, social inequality, and so on. It's all wrong! Even this world can't accept the innocence and goodness of this little girl!” the young man said, looking at Kalina who was still asleep.
“That's why I'm asking for your help once again. Please help me fix this wrong world,” the young man pleaded.
“Huh, did you forget what happened to you after your fight? Someone as weak as you won't be able to change anything. Moreover, you won't be able to change the fate of your miserable life.” Cecilia said.
“But... No! I'm sure I can change it! Look out there! If just by losing his power, Wallace, the hero, could shake the world, then if I regain my power, I can definitely make this world better than before!” the young man exclaimed.
“Huh, so stubborn. Do you know how many times I've tried to fix this world like you? Do you think that just by regaining your power, you can change this chaotic world!? Don't be ridiculous!”
For some reason, Cecilia suddenly became angry at the young man.
The young man was a bit surprised and took a step back. But at this point, the young man was really determined to fix not only this world but also his life!
“If being stubborn is necessary to change this world, then I'll gladly be stubborn. Because of that, help me achieve my current goal. Because honestly, right now, I'm so tired of being someone who has to be constantly saved. Cecilia, trust me. Because I will not disappoint those who believe in me.” the young man said, reaching out his right hand to Cecilia.
“… Huh, Don't disappoint me.” replied Cecilia who then walked to the center of the room.
“Hey, wait a minute. By the way, have you ever wondered why Kalina has been sleeping so soundly despite the noise we've been making?”
“Oh, that? Um... If I'm not mistaken, she has been drugged by Marie when she left this room. Because it seems that before, Marie had guessed that Kalina would leave this room as soon as she saw you wake up. Hmm... maybe Kalina was thinking of bringing you food and drinks? Anyway, it doesn't matter.” Cecilia said.
“Marie!? You said Marie is also in this Cathedral!? Don't tell me she's our enemy too!?” asked the young man in surprise.
“No, don't worry. As long as we have money, maybe she won't be our enemy.” Cecilia answered
“I don't understand.”
“The point is, she has her own way of helping her friends.” Cecilia explained, then squatted down and got ready in the middle of the room.
“Um... What are you doing?” asked the young man.
“You want to escape, right? If so, hurry up and get on, because I will carry you to my hometown.”
“You? Carry me?”
“Yes. Now hurry, because I don't know how long Marie can hold them off.”
“Them? Who?”
“The knights. Have you forgotten that Kalina previously said that the Bishops wanted to take you from this Cathedral, right? And before Kalina went to sleep, she also said that the knights would come, didn't she?” Cecilia said.
“But I didn't expect them all to come so quickly! Come on quickly, we have to escape from here immediately!” exclaimed the young man, immediately climbing onto Cecilia's back.
“Bow your head and hold on tight. Because I'll show you how fast I can move in my prime condition.”
“Huh? Didn't you already show it when you were fighting that Orc?” the young man asked.
“Oh, that? At that time, my body was in a very pathetic condition. But don't worry! I'm sure that right now I can defeat all the knights on the lower floor alone.” Cecilia said arrogantly.
“Then why are we running away? Aren't you sure you can fight them all?”
“Look, am I carrying a weapon right now?” asked Cecilia annoyed.
“... No.”
“That's why we have to run away now. Come on, hold on! Because I don't want to come back just to pick you up if you fall!” Cecilia ordered.
“Okay!”
Then, while carrying the young man on her back, Cecilia broke the window glass in front of her and then shot off very fast like a comet.
“BOOOM!”
A very loud sonic boom suddenly occurred, shattering all the windows in the room.
Without paying attention and looking behind him, the young man just curled up like a baby behind Cecilia's body. The two of them were now flying so fast that the young man thought that if he even raised his head once, his head would be severed by the strong gust of wind.
“What the hell with the current speed! This is crazy! This doesn't make sense! How could a human move this fast without fear of her body being destroyed!? Is this real magic!? Even Yzak's magic is nothing compared to this magic!” thought the young man.
“... Okay, it seems we're almost there.” mumbled Cecilia.
Then, Cecilia landed on the ground and jumped lightly upward to reduce her speed.
After feeling that Cecilia's speed had decreased, the young man then raised his head and looked at the full moon emerging in the middle of the night sky.
“How was it? Very fast, isn't it? That's my maximum speed in my prime condition… for right now.” said Cecilia who still floating in the sky while carrying the young man.
“... Isn't this world beautiful?” mumbled the young man as he looked toward the full moon.
Then, the young man reached out his right hand and tried to reach the full moon in front of him while asking Cecilia…
“Then why don't the humans who live in it know about it?”
Cecilia remained silent, ignoring the young man's question. Then, as they were about to reach the ground, Cecilia used her magic again to slow down their descent.
“…This is who we are. As long as we are still given the ability to control the world, this world will continue to end in destruction.” said Cecilia.
Then, both of them landed on an empty, green field.
“But without humans, this world would also become as boring as the place we're stepping on now. That's why, instead of ruining or leaving it, wouldn't it be better if we fix it?” asked Cecilia.
“... Yes, you're right, Cecilia. In that case, let's together fix this broken world. Let's show that God has not abandoned us!” exclaimed the young man.
Then, under the night sky, Cecilia and the young man sat together on the green field and talked about their dreams and hopes.
This is the end of the story of Wallace, the Hero of prophecy. After this, the hero suddenly disappeared from the beautiful and Holy city.
Not long after, due to the absence of a hero who could control the blue flames, Kalina was reluctantly appointed as one of the seven knights who would save this world.
“The End.”
