Chapter 20:

End Of A Beast

Convoluted/Mess

Lumi’s in trouble! I thought as I watched her swing the scythe massacring the horde of wolves that attacked her.

I need to help her… but with my wounds that’s impossible. I can’t move by myself let alone fight. However, I can still use my ability. “Haaah….phew.” I breathed in and out as I prepared for blood to bleed through me again.

But before I uttered the word I used as an anchor, I saw Lumi turn back and run towards me with a scythe in hand.

“Eden, lend me your power.” She hurriedly said as she cut through the wolves that were following her.

“I will!” I replied.

“Thank you… End to Eternity!” She quickly thanked me and turned back as she uttered her command.

In the next moment a wall of ice had formed around the both of us. “This won’t last long, so I’ll do it quick.” She said as she dropped the scythe and leaned down close to my face.

“Yeah-mmngh!” As soon as I finished my one-word sentence, she had once again brought her lips to mine.

For a few seconds our lips had made direct contact with each other, during that time I steadily felt the pain aching in my body go away as it also felt lighter while my mind felt much clearer.

“Mmmmngh!”

But something about this feels different from the other times, a wave of pleasure had erupted through my mouth as I felt her tongue intertwine with mine…

If I still had the little guy then he’d be rising right about now.

She then moved her face and mouth away from mine as our saliva for a few moments were still connected but eventually parted as she moved enough distance away.

“…” Before I could even move my mouth to speak, she said. “Alright stand up, try to avoid getting more wounds, if possible, we don’t want to push your body too hard.”

“Ah… okay.” I replied as I stood up. I’ll question her about it once this is all over, right now finishing this battle takes priority.

“So, what should I do?” I asked.

“Support me, clear a path for me, I need to strike Sameal with this scythe to end this.” She explained.

“I see… then… wait where’s the knife?” I touched my clothes all over, hoping that it’d be inside a pocket as I heard Lumi mutter something.

“Here.” I turned my gaze to her and she threw me something. I caught it with my hand and it was the knife I’ve been using.

“You, had it?”

“Yeah, you couldn’t carry it earlier so I placed it in my spatial storage for the time being.”

“Thanks for that.”

“No problem. Now, let’s go!” She crouched down and picked up the scythe and then stood up then swung the scythe at the wall of ice she made earlier.

As soon as the wall broke down, the hordes of wolves had started to enter, but before they could even reach us Lumi had already swung her scythe horizontally killing them all in one clean swing.

I readied my knife as she ran. “Forget.” I uttered then blood had leaked through one of my wounds and wrapped my knife, once again forming my pseudo-sword.

Ahhhhgk…! Consequently, a headache had erupted in my head.

Concentrate. I can’t let this get in my way. As soon as I got hold of myself, I looked at Lumi.
With a serious expression she nodded, I nodded back then started running towards the horde of wolves in Sameal’s direction.

My aim is to clear a path for her, that’s it. I just need to let Lumi land a blow on Sameal with that scythe of hers.

As soon as I got in their range, I immediately started swinging my pseudo-sword. I have no technique nor skill in using the sword and I’m just relying on its sharpness, I’m a complete amateur but I’m not just flailing it around either.

In the past, I’ve watched plenty of anime where swordplay is involved, I got curious and started copying the moves they displayed using a stick I found. Eventually after enough swinging I somehow managed to replicate it.

Not perfectly but enough to call it a decent copy. I might be childish for doing that but it has come.

The days where I would be finally able to put it into actual use had come.

I could’ve just gone to something like fencing school and actually learned it through that means but that kind of school doesn’t exist in this country.

“Haaaah!” I shouted as I swung my sword over and over again as I ran all the while blood splatters from the wolves’ severed heads, limbs, and other wounds.

A moment later I saw a flash of light coming towards me, knowing what that is I jumped to my side and dodged the spear he had launched.

I quickly glanced behind me only to see Lumi cut the spear apart with her scythe and it exploded killing the nearby wolves all the while leaving her unscathed.

Then I turned my gaze back to Sameal. I could only make out his silhouette as the both of us are currently in a cloud of dust.

It’s hard to see…! I thought as I saw several more flashes of light come towards me. I need to dodge. I can’t just cut it up and escape the explosion like Lumi does.
I jumped to the right hoping that Lumi would deal with them, then I started running again.

It probably takes at least a few seconds for him to form new spears to attack us with. From what I saw in their fight earlier he understands what Lumi was trying to do when she pulled out that scythe.

I need to make him stay put when I get close enough but there’s a risk.

Last time I trapped him in place, some sort of explosion had happened. I'd guess that it has something to do with him equipping his armor made out of electricity but I saw him cover himself with the electricity without the explosion that happens.

So, it’s probably something he can activate at will…

Therefore, if I trap him and he decides to activate that explosion then I will die.

I don’t mind the dying part; it's just that it’s now a matter of whether Lumi will be able to make it in time.

I’ve only seen it once but if I remember correctly his body lit up and then a few seconds after that, the explosion had happened.

I don’t know how much exactly those few seconds are but it’s best to assume that it’s four seconds… two seconds at worst. I thought as I was nearing him. Swinging my sword over and over just to get the wolves out of the way all the while dodging any spear that comes my way and letting Lumi handle it.

Ah, I’m almost there! Just a little more… but wait, I need time to adjust the blood formation. Damn it… I need to think more, I need more time…!

To trap him using blood, I need at least four seconds to deform the current sword and adjust the formation to several lines or threads. Then I need another three seconds to aim and fire. That’s seven seconds I need!

But that’s time I don’t have once he’s in my range.

He’s not moving right now but there’s also the possibility that he’ll move once I reach him, making all this meaningless.

Why is he not moving? He knows his life is in danger if he let us come near, so why?

I was nearing him… for some reason he had stopped firing the spears and just stood there.

I stopped moving then pointed my pseudo-sword at him. Right now, we’re about 10 meters apart which isn’t too close nor too far.

It just re-occurred to me earlier, but my ability is to control and shape ‘blood’, not just my own but any blood. I’m an idiot for forgetting this and have been using my own since I woke up in this cave.

Concentrate. Imagine all the blood spilled near me, pinpoint their locations, and then lift them up and bring them to my sword. Forget.” I uttered my command and in the next moment a large amount of blood spilled across this entire area we’re in, lifted up from the ground and all started flowing into my blade.

Snakes….Strings….Ropes…Threads, form into those. I thought as the blade deformed and the blood expanded, slowly but surely forming into lines that I can use to entrap Sameal.

As I was concentrating, Sameal who was watching me had formed only but a single spear and launched it towards me.

But before it could even reach me, the spear was deflected by Lumi by using the back of her scythe. “I won’t let you!” She cried out. The spear changed directions and ended up stabbing itself on the ceiling.

A couple of seconds later my weapon which used to take on the form of a hiltless sword with a red blade had completely transformed. If I were to describe it accurately, then it would look like the eight snake heads of Yamata-no-Orochi except that mine had double.

Sixteen similar lines all coming from the knife which I used as a base to carry the blood.

I didn’t expect it to be this heavy even with the nanomachines supporting me, I can still barely hold on to it. But It’s done… and so

“Prepare yourself Sameal! Haaaaaah!” I shouted as loud as I could as the lines expanded, each and separate line moving differently. Sameal was still unmoving, the red lines had reached him and wrapped around him.

A moment later, I felt his electricity travel through the blood and reach me. “Gahhhhh!” I cried out while resisting the pain and shock it’s giving. “Go for it! LUMIII!”

And then a white streak passed beside me.

***

Eden did it! Now, it’s my time. I thought as I gripped the scythe tight with both of my hands and turned my gaze to Sameal who was currently wrapped and trapped by blood.

I can’t use increased access, however my normal top speed is more than enough! I thought as I placed all strength in my legs and lifted them off forward.

In that instant, it felt like the world around me disappeared as I instantly closed the distance between me and Sameal. I stopped in front of him and raised the scythe preparing to strike.

“************************************” A growl loud enough to burst my eardrums had erupted from him. Ghh… Not yet, I’m already here I just need to bring it down! I thought as my ears rang.

End to Eternity!” I shouted my command as I swung the scythe’s blade down on his head. As it was about to reach his head, ice had materialized itself around his feet, disabling any further movement but then suddenly electricity had burst in his body exploding the area around him.

It stopped my scythe for a second but I held my ground as parts of my flesh burn and disappeared from the explosion. “Haaaah!” I shouted as I once again started to bring the scythe down.

With his armor of electricity dissipated, he freed his hairy right arm from the blood and brought it upwards making contact with my scythe. As his claws hold against my scythe, I put even more strength in my swing.

Just for a few more seconds he held it back in a futile attempt to resist but then eventually the scythe broke through.

Stabbing both his claw and paw, the scythe breaks free and continues its trajectory.

Shnk!

A moment later the scythe’s blade had made its way deep into his skull, his brain, his flesh as the blood and ice holding him in place dissipates into the air.

Return object to assigned storage.” I quietly muttered as I pull the scythe from his head and stepped back, in the next second the scythe faded away executing my command. I breathed heavily as parts of my damaged flesh and wounds started to repair itself.

Red lines had appeared all over Sameal’s beastly body as a moment later starting from the head, his body dismantled itself and fell apart as if the red lines were the cracks.

“Good job.” I heard Sameal’s voice as the rest of his body parts fell to the ground and turned to dust.

Is it… finally over? No, there’s still the problem of taking out that person Eden knows and locating the exit.

I glanced at the pit of wolves where the person being used as a seedbed was located. The wolves have stopped being produced, while the rest who are still alive are trapped.

How did they even get out of there in the first place? Did he pull something? I thought as I heard something fall. I quickly turned around only to see Eden down on the ground with one-knee up.

“Are you okay?” I asked loudly, unknowingly with a worried expression on my face. “Yeah… it’s just a headache. Don’t worry about it.” She replied.
“I see, then just rest, you’re obviously too tired even with the nanomachines supporting you so, leave it to me, I’ll take care of what’s left.” I said.

“No… not yet, I can still help.” She responded as his face twitched and stood up while picking up his knife that was on the ground.

“Then suit yourself.” I grumbled as my expression unknowingly turned into a smile.

Now then… I thought as I turned my gaze on the middle of the pit, the person that Eden supposedly knows.

I should probably cut off those tentacle things stuck onto her and wrap her with some bandages. She doesn’t seem to be conscious but I’m getting this bad feeling from somewhere. I don’t know how to explain it.

For someone to turn a living human into a seedbed for animals like wolves, they need to physically implant seeds onto the eggs that she has.

Basically it’s simple biology but what I’m wondering is what those tentacles are for…

The normal way of doing this would be to have a wolf or something that has those seeds and implant it inside her by ‘mating’ with her but at the speed she was giving birth earlier is just astonishing.

I don’t know how they’ve done it but I can see they’ve altered her body to some extent to accommodate giving birth to normal wolves.

Scientifically it’s impossible to explain, but abilities from the 2nd dimension (The Garden Of Eden) would easily explain it.

But who and what kind is it?

This is very troublesome…
