Jakub was in the middle of icing a delicate cake, the soft hum of the bakery a comforting background to his focused work. The door chimed softly as it opened, and he didn’t need to look up to know who it was. A familiar presence slipped up behind him, warm breath tickling his ear.
"Jakub, stop whispering in my ears like we are lovers, and besides, I need to bake these cakes and not cause discomfort to my customers," Jakub muttered, blushing cutely as he gently pushed the intruder back.
Nickel smirked shamelessly, his dark eyes gleaming with mischief. "Oh baby, let them think whatever they want. Besides, only you and I know that we are just friends, childhood friends as a matter of fact," he whispered, his voice low and teasing.
Jakub tried to focus on his cake, his cheeks burning. "Nickel, if you don't stop, I'm going to paint your pretty face in cake," he yelled softly, his annoyance barely masking the affection in his voice.
Nickel chuckled, the sound a mix of delight and amusement. "Oh, I would love to see that," he replied, licking his lips and chuckling excitedly.
Jakub sighed, trying to maintain his concentration as he finished icing the cake. He was almost done when Nickel leaned in again, his presence impossible to ignore.🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤"Seriously, Nickel, I have a lot to do," Jakub said, trying to sound stern but failing as his lips quirked up in a smile. "The town fair is this weekend, and I need to have everything ready."
Nickel leaned against the counter, watching Jakub with a fond smile. "I know, I know. But you work too hard, Jakub. You need to have some fun too."
Jakub huffed, a small smile tugging at the corners of his lips. "Fun can wait until after the fair. Right now, I need to make sure everything is perfect."
Nickel's expression softened. He knew how much the bakery meant to Jakub, how much pride he took in his creations. "Alright, I'll behave," he said, raising his hands in mock surrender. "But don't think this means I'm going to stop teasing you altogether."
Jakub rolled his eyes, but there was a warmth in his gaze. "I wouldn't expect anything less."
As the day went on, Nickel kept his promise, helping out where he could and only occasionally sneaking in a playful remark or a teasing gesture. Jakub found himself relaxing, enjoying the familiar rhythm of their interactions despite the busy schedule.
By the time the sun began to set, the bakery was filled with trays of beautifully decorated cakes, cookies, and pastries, all ready for the town fair. Jakub surveyed his work, a satisfied smile on his face. "We did it," he said, turning to Nickel.
Nickel grinned, wiping a smudge of frosting from Jakub's cheek. "Of course, we did. We make a pretty good team."
Jakub laughed, swatting Nickel's hand away. "Yeah, we do."🖤🖤🖤🖤
As they locked up the bakery, the evening air enveloped them...Jakub's heart swelled with pride and contentment...The challenges, the teasing, all faded away...Leaving only the sweetness of the day...
