Chapter 62:

It was her supermoon.

The Lifeless Supermoon: A Fateful Encounter

Kanako didn’t know that the main culprit of Ayane’s high school incident was Sakiko. He thought she was just a classmate who might know something about Ayane’s past.

Sakiko later didn’t reply to Kanako’s text after that.

The next day,

Ayane peeped through her window and saw Kanako standing there, as she was wearing her school uniform. She instantly hasted her work seeing his presence.

She hurriedly went downstairs, grabbed the two sets of school lunches and opened the gate.

“Hmph.”

“Ayane…-chan?”

She was surprisingly angry.

“What happened?”, he asked, hoping to calm her down.

“You again didn’t ring the bell and just stood there…”, she said in a silent tone.

“Sorry sorry. It just didn’t feel right to me. Besides, I came to a girl's house uninvited, I don’t feel comfortable coming inside too.”

“H.m.p.h!!!-“

Ayane became even more angry.

“Ehhh??!? Ayane-chan what's wrong??”

“Who said you are uninvited?”

“Hm? Am I not? I did come to your house without notice though.”

“Still, it’s not like you are uninvited. You are helping me after all. Here-“

She handed over one set of lunch to Kanako.

“Ehh?! Ayane-chan you didn’t have to make lunch for me!”

“Just take it. It’s my way of saying thanks.”

They were going to school without any talking, but something was different. It was like, they understood each other to a whole another level. Ayane felt a lot more attached to Kanako after he took care of her when she had the fever.

Kanako felt the same too.

Somehow, the air was becoming a bit more romantic than usual. It was getting awkward.

“The sky is looking good today.”

“It sure is.”

“Well, I didn't really start to look at my surroundings before you told me your famous quote.”

“Stop it. It makes me embarrassed.”, his face became red.

“Why though? That quote saved someone’s life, you should be a little more proud of it!”, she let out a big smile. It was the supermoon again. It was her supermoon.

“Cute-“, Kanako blurted out.

“…Ehhhhhh???!!”

“Ehhhhhh!!???”

They both were shocked in unison at his speech.

“Anyway we should head to school faster!!”, Kanako replied, flushed out, having no other option.

They both went to school in a hurry.

###

It was after school.

Kanako like the previous day, was going downstairs and to Ayane’s classroom. By this time, everyone left the school, but Ayane didn’t leave yet. He had a good lookout for her and he was confident that she didn’t leave.

He patiently waited for Ayane at the staircase, but there was no sound or notice of her coming. He was growing worried.

“Where is she?”, he said, with the lunch box she gave one his hand.

Suddenly, he heard a noise. It was coming from Ayane’s classroom. Someone was shouting.

“What are you thinking you are doing sharing lunch boxes with him!!?? Did the last time not get you enough???”, the muffled voice of a girl came out of the classroom.

Kanako rushed to the classroom and inspected the situation. Peeping through the glass carefully, he saw three girls, standing before Ayane, with Ayane pinned to the wall.

“Wait, aren’t those Hanabi-san, Miyako-san and Fuyuki-san? But why? They were so nice to me? Why are they doing this?”, he wondered and decided to stop and learn their reason before barging in.

“Why aren’t you not separating from him!!! Sharing lunchboxes… walking to school together… what do you think you are doing these things with him????!?!!”

“Huh?”, to his horror, he realized that the reason was none other than him.
