Chapter 4:
Modern Enchanted Fairy Tale
It was a beautiful morning in spring day, Mia was jogging herself in the park when Elara was watching her, sitting on the bench. "What's up princess?" Mia asked, catching her breath.
Elara looked at her with a her lovely smile. "I'm just fine Mia, I was thinking about Adoria, that the evil queen and evil old witch that trapped me in the modern world, I have to find a way to go back."
Mia sat beside her, wiping the sweat from her brow. "We'll figure it out together," she said, her voice filled with reassurance. "But for now, let's enjoy our time here."
Then, a drone here was watching at Elara and Mia, soon it was hiding in the bushes. Soon, it flies away, then it place inside on the NBI Headquarters. "I've found her, she's in the park," the robotic voice of the drone spoke to the person holding the control.
The person controlling the drone was the NBI Agent Meiko, who was spying the princess and her newfound friend. She had been tracking Elara ever since for that. "Okay, it was good timing," she murmured to herself.
Soon, at the park. Elara and Mia are laughing together over ice cream cones, the sweetness of their friendship blossoming in the warm sunshine. The air is filled with the scent of blooming flowers and the distant chatter of families enjoying the weekend. Elara, in her jeans and t-shirt, looks a bit out of place, but her radiant smile fits perfectly in this modern world.
Somehow, there was an teen girl has a orange hair and yellow outfit with gold colored jeans named Brittany, who was Mia's bully when she was from her school, passing by the park and noticed Elara's unusual attire and beauty. Brittany's eyes narrowed with spite as she recognized Mia with the new girl. "Who is that girl here." Brittany thought to herself, feeling a twinge of jealousy at the sight of Mia with someone new. She approached them, her steps heavy with purpose.
"Hey, Mia," Brittany called out, her voice as sweet as honey but her eyes as sharp as knives.
"Hi.....Brittany, what are you doing for this today?" Mia asked with a forced smile, her eyes flickering towards Elara for a brief moment.
"Oh, I am making a movie was a 'Meanie Princess' that she rule above everyone. I was making a movie with my father here." Brittany said, gesturing to the film crew that had been set up nearby. "But enough about me."
"Okay, let me see the trailer here." Elara asked with her own forced smile, a hint of curiosity in her voice.
"Okay then." Brittany took out her phone and played a short clip. It was a scene of a modern-day school with students dressed in various costumes, including a 'mean' princess character that looked eerily similar to Elara, complete with a crown and a gown, pushing her classmates around. Elara couldn't help but laugh at the absurdity of it all. The fairy tale princess had never encountered such a blatant display of cruelty in her kingdom, and here it was, being glorified in a school project.
Elara got confused and a bit irritated by the scene. "Why would you make a movie about a mean princess, Brittany? It seems like you're just mocking me."
Brittany's smile turned into a smirk. "It's just for fun, Elara. You know, I've always loved having goal for to thwart famous' future." She winked at Mia, who rolled her eyes.
Mia stepped in, trying to diffuse the tension. "Brittany, Elara is new here. Maybe you guys can help each other with your projects. Elara's got a unique perspective on royalty, right?"
"Nope, you both not going joining, only me!" Brittany snapped, her true colors showing through the facade of sweetness, then she walked away to go on the movie studio.
Elara and Mia are watching Brittany retreat, the tension in the air was palpable. "What was that all about?" Elara asked, her eyebrows furrowed in confusion.
"Hey, don't push it!," the men yelled after he got pushed by Agent Meiko.
Elara and Mia notices the presence of Agent Meiko, so they hide between a couple of garbage cans, their hearts racing. "What's going on?" Elara whispered.
"Okay, the princess is going to the movie studio." Agent Meiko murmured into her earpiece as she followed Brittany to the movie studio.
Mia's eyes widened. "Why is she following Brittany?"
Elara's expression grew serious. "I really think that she thinks Brittany was princess. We have to follow her!"
At the movie studio, Brittany strutted in with her entourage, the 'Meanie Princess' script in hand. Elara and Mia, hiding in the shadows, watched as the crew scurried around setting up for the next scene. Elara's heart pounded in her chest as she recognized the costumes and props that mirrored her own kingdom's regalia. Soon, Brittany's father named Mr. Castellanos, the director of the film was recorded a scene with the 'Meanie Princess' bullying her fellow students.
"To think for true time, I am the mean princess for a worker!" Brittany exclaimed.
Elara and Mia are smugged that Brittany was so mean and that's why they followed her. They watched as the director called for action and the scene began.
Soon, Agent Meiko entered on 'Meanie Princess' backlot, then Brittany saw Agent Meiko, her face flushed with excitement. "You're here! I knew it! You're going to love this scene!" she exclaimed, pointing at the 'Meanie Princess' character on set.
"I'm sorry, but....I want you to go back to your fairy tale world and make me refreshing!" Meiko said with her crazy face, as Brittany screams and runs away, soon Meiko chases Brittany, while Mr. Castellanos was recording the clips and follow her.
Elara grabbed Mia's hand, her eyes wide with alarm. "We have to stop her!" she whispered urgently. They started to run after Agent Meiko, their sneakers squeaking on the polished floor of the studio. The chaos of the film set only grew as the chase unfolded, with the actors and crew members staring in bewilderment at the strange pursuit.
Inside on the superhero backlot, the performance of a fight between superhero and super villain is shown. Brittany is still running.
"Okay, cue the pyrotechnics." The producter woman announced, as the pyrotechnician nodded.
"Man, who is that stranger here in this-." Brittany's taunt was cut short as she stumbled into the superhero backlot, artificial explosions appear, so she was scared and dodged left and right.
Elara and Mia's eyes widened as they saw the chaos, the flaming barrels rolling towards them. "Careful!" Mia shouted, pulling Elara out of the way just in time.
The pyrotechnician's face paled when he noticed the unexpected intruders. "Cut! Cut!" he yelled, but it was too late. The explosion went off, sending a shockwave through the backlot.
"Sorry for that." Elara called out, her voice barely heard over the ringing in their ears from the explosion.
"What are you doing here." The superhero actor looked at them, his eyes hidden behind the mask. "This isn't a place for tourists."
"We're not tourists," Elara said firmly, her eyes scanning the area for any sign of Brittany or Agent Meiko. "We need to find that girl, she's in trouble."
The superhero actor looked at them skeptically, but the urgency in their voices convinced him to help. "I saw her run this way," he pointed towards a set of stairs leading to the next level of the backlot.
Elara and Mia took off after Brittany, next inside on the horror backlot. Elara and Mia's chests heaved as they climbed the stairs, the smell of fake smoke and burnt rubber lingering in the air. The horror backlot was eerily quiet, the only sounds were their footsteps echoing through the fake cobblestone streets and the occasional whir of a prop chainsaw in the distance.
They got out, Elara and Mia are entered the anime backlot, when Elara saw any anime protagonists actors.
"I didn't heard about anime, what is anime?" Elara whispered to Mia, her eyes wide as they took in the colorful and bizarre world of anime characters.
Mia chuckled despite the tension. "It's like... animated cartoons from Japan, but with a lot of heart and sometimes crazy action," she explained.
Elara nodded, taking it all in. They continued their pursuit, the chase led them through a number of different sets, each more bizarre than the last. They dodged through the sci-fi backlot with its futuristic spaceships and alien landscapes, and the romance backlot with its quaint cafes and blooming cherry blossom trees. The studio was a maze of make-believe worlds, but their determination to find Brittany and Agent Meiko never wavered.
Inside on the vampire story backlot, Brittany saw a dead end. She was panting heavily, her heart racing like a wild stallion in her chest. She turned around, her eyes wide with fear, only to see Agent Meiko closing in on her. "Please, I'm sorry," she begged, her hands up in surrender.
"Sorry won't cut it," Meiko sneered, then she looked at the handmade crown, it's made of paper was on the top of Brittany's head. This causes Meiko was realizing that Brittany was not a real princess, she is just an ordinary teenager. "Meap! Looks like I am the one who's been fooled," she said, her voice filled with disappointment.
Then Meiko walked away from the studio and left Brittany shaking in fear. Meanwhile, Elara and Mia had lost their trail, they stopped at Brittany was safe and sound. They leaned against a fake vampire crypt, catching their breath.
"Well, that was a close call," Mia said, her voice shaking slightly.
Mr. Castellanos has finished the film, he looked the film that it was totally weird and totally ruined. "Daddy, you ruined the scene. Now make a new one!" Brittany complained, her voice echoing through the now-silent backlot.
"No! I guess I'll renamed the movie was 'Meanie Princess goes Death in Scene'! You are lucky that I had enough for you!" Mr. Castellanos said, his voice filled with sarcasm, he pulled Brittany's ear and added. "Now you get was did you deserve, Brittany!" He pulls Brittany to leave the movie studio.
Elara looked at Mia with relief. "It seems we're safe, for now," she said, straightening her t-shirt that had become twisted during the chase.
At the ferris wheel, Elara and Mia are inside the carriage, looking out over the bustling city below. The neon lights of Manila looked like a sea of stars, twinkling and beckoning them with their vibrant energy. "It's so... alive," Elara murmured, her eyes wide with wonder.
Mia nodded, her own eyes reflecting the lights. "It's nothing like your kingdom, is it?"
Elara took a deep breath, the cool evening air a stark contrast to the heat of their earlier pursuit. "No, but it's fascinating in its own way," she said, a smile playing on her lips. "I never knew a world like this existed."
Mia leaned in closer to her, the warmth of their bodies a comfort against the gentle sway of the ferris wheel. "And I never knew a real princess," she said, her voice soft. "It's pretty amazing to have you here, Elara."
Soon for that, Elara kissed Mia softly, her eyes closed as she savored the sweetness of the moment. Mia's heart fluttered like a trapped butterfly, the sensation of Elara's lips against hers was something she never could have imagined. It was tender and pure, a moment that seemed to transcend the chaos of the world around them.
In the morning, Elara and Mia are watching a movie was Meanie Princess goes Death in Scene, where it shows Brittany was chased by a NBI agent in the movie studio. They laughed at the absurdity of the scene, feeling a mix of relief and amusement that Brittany had gotten a taste of her own medicine. The movie had become a viral hit overnight, and the two friends couldn't help but feel a sense of justice in the chaotic climax.
Also, all of the town are laughing that Brittany's humiliation was the best part of the weekend. Elara felt a strange feeling of satisfaction watching Brittany's misfortune, but she quickly pushed it aside, knowing that it wasn't the way a princess should feel.
