Chapter 98:

The hell of Tartarus

Spice of life [Remake]

As the squad car drove to the police station, Masaru sat in the back and tried to clear his mind. However, the door was suddenly ripped off its hinges as Masaru came face to face with Dr. T. Phon Laqutte himself. Laqutte's fingers immediately extended and wrapped themselves around Masaru.

Though Masaru was terrified, anger quickly consumed him as he made eye contact with the only other person in the squad car.  "I always knew you were trash."

...

As Rika leapt through the sky, she suddenly stopped as she noticed Laqutte and a kidnapped Masaru zip by at light speed. She immediately attempted to change course, but found herself staring face to face with a robotic woman.

"It was you. YOU were the one that planted the poison, which means you were Kassandra Riker all along, EC1-DNA," Rika glared.

"Hypothesis is correct. Traitor elimination will now commence," EC1-DNA stated as she engaged Rika in combat.

Sweat ran down Rika's face as she struggled not to die. "Shit, EC1-DNA is one of the strongest cyborgs in the Roboborg union. But I can't lose! I have to save Masaru!" Rika thought as she landed on the roof of a building.

EC1-DNA then landed and took the appearance of Masaru. "Rika, please just surrender and die. It's the best way to atone for your sins if you die by my hand," she said in Masaru's voice.

Rage consumed Rika as she quickly beheaded EC1-DNA. "Don't you EVER take his appearance again!" she shouted. EC1-DNA returned to normal as her body caught her head and reattached it. "So the head ain't good enough. Then again, I doubt destroying her body completely would be the end of her. Considering how high ranking she is, I wouldn't be surprised if Laqutte has her data backed up. As long as that bastard's alive, the Roboborg union will continue to exist and expand. Though destroying EC1-DNA here and now might actually give me some time to save Masaru. But how do I destroy her? My knife was only able to cut through her neck and I don't have any other weapons on me," she thought.

Had Rika not been in an agitated state, she would have realized something was terrifyingly wrong with this entire scenario, however, she would fail to notice the devious pitfall she was about to plunge into.

"Rika, please, just die," EC1-DNA said is Masaru's voice as she once again took his appearance and charged at Rika.

Rika immediately sliced her to bits, however, when EC1-DNA returned to normal, she was in pieces. Rika immediately fled to pursue Laqutte, completely ignoring her supposedly slain foe. Once Rika was gone, EC1-DNA reappeared, perfectly intact. The supposed fragments of her then vanished.

"Holographic deception: successful. Returning to base as per orders," EC1-DNA stated as she vanished.

Elsewhere, Rika managed to catch up with Laqutte. Laqutte didn't seem phased in the slightest as he gradually increased his speed as he headed for his hideout. Rika managed to stick with him and confronted him as he reached the hideout.

"Hand over Masaru!" Rika glared as she flashed her knife.

Suddenly, Rika winced in pain as her body went limp and she fell to the ground with a thud.

"Subject has been immobilized but left conscious, as ordered," EC1-DNA's voice stated.

"Shit, I guess there was another one of you," Rika glared as EC1-DNA lifted her by her hair and dragged her into the hideout.

Inside, Rika was strapped to a chair and gagged as she watched Masaru get placed on a metal table by Laqutte.

"Subject is to witness assimilation from start to finish," Laqutte coldly stated as EC1-DNA put clamps in Rika's eyes, preventing her from closing them.

Rika's eyes widened with shock as she began to aimlessly struggle and attempt to scream.

"Resistance is futile. Subject has been immobilized with shock preventing movement for approximately 4 hours. Subject's mouth has also been sealed preventing noise. Assimilation of subject's companion shall begin," Laqutte coldly stated.

Muffled screams rang out of Rika's mouth as Laqutte stripped Masaru and restrained him to the table. Robotic arms wielding terrifying tools then sprung out from the walls and menacingly hovered over Masaru.

"Assimilation shall begin," Laqutte stated as one of the robotic arms activated it's tool and descended towards Masaru's left hand.

Tears poured out of Rika's eyes as she was forced to watch Masaru wither and scream in pain as his body was destroyed and reconstructed with metal.

...

Rika trembled and cried as she stared at what had become of Masaru. Masaru's body had been completely transformed into metal. There was no human trace left, aside from his consciousness, but even that was going to be taken.

"Everything's dark, there's no sound, smell, nothing. The physical pain may have stopped, but I'll be forever haunted by that pained look on Rika's face. She looked worse than when I first learned of her assassin roots. Rika, I'm sorry," Masaru thought as Laqutte placed a microchip in his head, erasing all trace of Masaru Ryono.

Masaru Ryono was now effectively dead. What had once been his body, was now a cyborg with no free-will that had been assimilated into Laqutte's hivemind.

"Commencing reboot of functions. M45-4RU, do your systems copy?" Laqutte coldly asked.

"All systems functioning," M45-4RU stated in a robotic voice.

Hearing Masaru's voice distorted through a robotic filter brought a renewed sense of rage to Rika, countering the sadness. Though she was still restrained to the chair, the shock had worn off allowing her to move around causing the chair to shake ever so slightly.

"M45-4RU, you are to hunt and kill subject: Rika Korosekai in the pit of Tartarus," Laqutte stated.

"Affirmative, commencing mission," M45-4RU stated as Rika was released and then subsequently dropped down a trap door into a pit of darkness.
