Chapter 108:

Reika's ally

Spice of life [Remake]

At the police station, a woman with purple hair yawned as she sat at her desk. "I thought I was the chief. Why do I have to spend the night?" she tiredly pouted.

"ALL PERSONNEL! ASSEMBLE AT OOKUMA'S HOUSE! THIS IS AN ORDER FROM SENIOR COMMISSIONER NAKAYAMA FROM HQ!" an officer's voice blasted out from the speakers.

"That address, that's Ookuma's place. ...! Oh no, Reika was heading there!" the woman thought as she began sprinting for her squad car.

Once she got to it, she got a call from Reika."Mutsumi, I'm fine. Though I'm going to need you to be my eyes and ears when Ookuma's place is investigated," Reika stated.

"Huh? Wha-"

"MUTSUMI! I'm serious. Get there as fast as you can. Record with your phone when you get there!"

"Understood."

When Reika got really serious, Mutsumi knew not to question her and to just go along with it.

"Must be big. Reika wouldn't be so serious if it wasn't," Mutsumi thought.

...

Nakayama began to freak out as she stared at the burnt house.

"Ah AHHHHHH! MADAM OOKUMAAAAAA!" she screamed as she began desperately running into the house.

Himawari clicked her tongue and motioned for Purin to restrain her for her own good as she and Inoka put on their gloves and went with forensics into the wreckage.

"I already got the memo. Apparently she changed the plan, of course that still means I'm stuck dealing with Nakayama's wailing," Purin thought.

"Looks like Ookuma filleted the roof and crispified the hall n walls," Inoka mused as she looked around.

Mutsumi then pulled up and pulled out her second phone before running inside.

"Nakajima, the hell are you running in here in high heels? This place is dangerous," Himawari glared.

Mutsumi ignored her and began looking around.

"Wish she told me WHAT to look for," Mutsumi thought.

She then noticed Inoka standing where the bathroom had been.

"Hmm? Looks really crispy in here. Well guess it is close to the outside," Inoka shrugged a she walked away. As Mutsumi gazed around the bathroom, Inoka went to where Ookuma' bedroom had been. "Hmm, there's a safe. Pretty crispy n warped. Smashed open. Well, guess she is capable of that. And it's empty. Yep, definitely plan B. Well time to snooze," Inoka thought as she left the house.

"AND!?" Nakayama glared.

"No sign of corpses, so they probably escaped," Inoka stated.

"Oh, so Madam Ookuma survived!?"

"I'm doublin' down on it."

"But why is her car still here?"

"Probably came back in a sedan, saw the fire, ran into save her daughter, then hightailed it to get medical treatment," Purin theorized.

"ARE YOU IMPLYING MADAM OOKUMA WAS HURT!?"

Nakayama immediately began frantically dialing Ookuma only for the call to not go through. She then ran to her squad car and sped off.

"And now we can get some breakfast, Pu-pu," Inoka grinned as she waltzed away with Purin.

"Oi, I wanna look too," Purin glared.

"It's just crispy wood. She clearly just changed the plan last minute, maybe she accidentally set something off early and changed the plan then. Well, even if da Madam got cooked a bit, we'll still blame the "opposition" for the fryin."

"Fine, I'm hungry anyway. We'll eat at some place nearby since we'll likely be busy with crowd and press control in the afternoon. If Madam Ookuma truly did suffer an injury, Nakayama will keep us all awake for the whole day."

Once the two left, forensics began to head out. "Commissioner Myouchi and detective Inohara's theories are likely correct. The safe is heavily damaged, but it's likely due to the fire. It was burnt inside, but likely because the door was left open," a member stated.

"And you're implying that Madam Ookuma took the safe's contents out?" Himawari asked.

"Correct, though it did seem a bit odd that the safe door was off it's hinges."

"Well, Madam Ookuma likely tapped into her inner strength to just kick the door down rather than fiddle with the combination."

"Ah, that would make sense."

"Though did you truly find no sign of human remains? Not even blood?"

"Well, no. This place was badly burnt."

"I see. Rope off the place and stand guard," Himawari ordered as she headed for her squad car.

"Um, Chief Nakajima?" an officer nervously asked.

"Oh, I'll be fine on my own. No need to wait for me," Mutsumi smiled.

"But-"

"I'm just going to sit in my car for a while."

Once Mutsumi was in her car, she stopped recording and dialed Reika.

"I've been able to see everything you saw thanks to the phone. Now, set up athat mini-camera somewhere then head back," Reika stated.

...

Mao checked out her clothes in the mirror. She was wearing short shorts, a black T-shirt that exposed her midriff, and a baseball cap.

“You look bold girl,” Reika complimented as she walked in.

“Shut up! I look Beautiful,” Mao glared.

“You’re starting to get a nasty mouth. “

“The hell’s wrong with that huh!?”

“Nothing, though you might have trouble making friends.”

“Who needs em! I’ve got you. Besides, how do I know they aren’t some I.L.U. rat?”

Reika sighed as Mao sat next to her on the bed. “I can’t be with you forever; you need to get back on your own feet and become independent rather than depend on me.”

“I know that…”

Reika took off Mao’s hat and looked at her face. “You didn’t like the makeup?”

“I mean, I tried putting it on like they did in the video, but I just looked weird. So I wiped it off.”

"I’ll do your makeup this time, if you don’t like it you don’t have to wear it.”

...

Mao gasped as she looked at herself in the mirror. She had never seen herself look this beautiful before. Tears began to pour out of her eyes.

“NO! Don’t cry! It will smear!” Reika warned.

Her warning came too little too late as the makeup smeared all over Mao’s face.

“Well, you’ve got a pretty face, so you don’t need to wear any makeup,” Reika giggled as she wiped Mao’s face. She then gazed down at Mao's smooth radiant legs.

“I see you've been using that razor I got you."

“Yep! I’ve never been happier or looked so sexy before.” Mao giggled.

“I’m impressed you learned to shave so quickly, there’s now hardly a nick or scrape anywhere on your body.”

“I only became a bleeding mess because I was rushing and used a kitchen knife. I just wanted that hideous sludge clinging to my body gone. Though if it weren't for Fubuki, I'd have been brainwashed or worse microchipped. That piece of shit threatened to chip me if I so much as plucked out a single hair or just one strand of hair wasn't smeared down. I had no freedom in how I could dress or even act. It was either emulate her to the blink, or microchip hell."

Reika clenched her fist as her expression darkened. “I’m glad that piece of shit is dead. The fact that that piece of shit would subject her daughter to such cruelty just to control you sickens me."

"Yeah f*** that piece of shit! I never wanna see her sludge or clothes anywhere on my body ever again."

Reika smiled as she rubbed Mao’s head. “So, are you ever going to grow out your hair?”

“What’s wrong with being bald?”

“Nothing, though I assume you’d like to try growing your hair out, considering you’ve never been allowed to do so before.”

“...”

“You’re afraid your hair will link you back to that piece of shit, correct?”

“Yeah.”

“Have you seen what color it was when it grew back?”

“Nah, I've been shaving it every day.”

“Don’t shave your head and eyebrows next time, let them grow out and see what color they are.”
