Chapter 111:

Serika Midoriya

Spice of life [Remake]

Mao glared at herself in the mirror. “Dammit, its green.”

She began lathering her head and eyebrows with shaving cream as Reika entered the apartment.

“It’s green I assume,” Reika smiled

“Yeah.”

“Well before you shave it all off, at least let me see it.”

Mao begrudgingly wiped herself off with a towel as Reika gazed at her hair.

“Oh, it’s a beautiful forest green. You should definitely grow it out,” Reika warmly smiled.

“But it will- “

“Your hair is far brighter and lighter than that piece of shit’s black sludge ever hoped to be. There's also some hints of magenta, and I assure you, that piece of shit's hair is NOT magenta, nor was the hair of the man she had sex with. Plus, this is now YOUR hair, not hers. You're also free to style and wash it, or even dye it as you please.”

Tears began to pour out of Mao's eyes. “C- Can I really, Can I finally grow out my hair like a normal girl. Can I finally go outside and do things that people normally do every day?” Mao cried.

“Yes, let’s go out right now. Those sneakers you ordered have just been sitting by the door, it’s about time you wore them,” Reika smiled.

Mao tearfully smiled as she ran towards the door and slipped into a pair of chartreuse sneakers and sloppily tied the laces.

"Time to venture out into the world, though let me show you how to properly tie your laces so you don't trip on them," Reika smiled as she retied one of the laces.

"Oh, that's how. Never really wore anything besides house slippers since I was never allowed to leave the house," Mao stated as she tied the other lace.

“Oh right, did you finally decide on a new name for yourself? I'd like to get you that new ID so you can start going to school.”

“Yeah, Serika Midoriya.”

“'Serika' you say? If I recall correctly, that was the name Fubuki Dakota was originally going to give to her daughter that was murdered by Akuma Ookmua" Reika stated. A somber expression overtook Serika's face as she began to tremble. "My apologies, I did not mean-"

"No, it's fine. Sensei, can I tell you a secret?" Serika asked.

"I'm all ears."

"I actually have memories from before I was born. It wasn't much, but all I could remember was the sound of my mother sobbing, and then I felt excruciating pain. It was like I was being skewered and scraped with knives. Then I felt like I was being suffocated before I found myself staring face to face with that piece of shit."

"Wait, are you implying that you were killed and then reincarnated as that piece of shit's daughter!?"

"Guess that would make sense of what I said. It would also explain why I felt so much hope and courage when I heard Fubuki's voice again back in 2007."

"In 2007? That was when I first met Fubuki and- Wait, did you just say-"

"Yeah, as soon as I heard Fubuki's voice, I knew she was my real mother. Or at least, that's what I like to believe. Even though we've never met, Fubuki's videos gave me the stregth and courage to put up with that hell. She truly felt more like a mother to me than that piece of shit."

"I see. So that's why you elected to address me as 'Sensei' then."

"Huh?"

"Oh, I figured you might possibly view me as a motherly figure."

"Sorry, I honestly want to save that for Fubuki."

"No worries, I'm far too young to be your mother anyway."

"I still look up to you though."

"I'm glad. Now Serika, I just have one final question, why did you choose chartreuse sneakers?"

“Because I like the color!”

“All I needed to hear.”

The two laughed and smiled as they exited the apartment.

"Guess my new life starts now," Serika thought.

Serika's eyes widened as she walked down the street with Reika. Everything looked so new and enticing, so much that she began smiling like a kid in a candy store. Though she immediately became fearful when she saw other people.

"It's alright, learn to relax. Don't lash out, just take a deep breath and calm your nerves," Reika smiled as she patted Serika on the shoulder. Serika nodded and began clinging to Reika. "Well, if this helps then it's fine. Now before we get your photo taken for a new ID, let's go eat some good food. I know a great place with great staff that will treat you good," Reika stated.

"So I can try eating some new things?" Serika asked.

"Go all out, but just for today. I'm sadly not made of money," Reika chuckled.

...

Rika smiled as she noticed Reika and Serika entering the restaurant. "Looks like the little one's made a full recovery. In that case, I'd better make sure to give her the best meal ever," Rika thought. "Well hello, welcome to Ryokoma. What's your name?" Rika smiled.

Serika immediately clung to Reika in terror.

"Don't worry Serika, she's just greeting you. Rika, please be extremely nice to Serika here. She's been through a lot of abuse and is very timid," Reika nodded.

"I got it. Sorry for scaring you, Serika. I'm Rika Komachi, one of the managers here. Well, sit where you like. We've even got a pool, gym, and arcade up top," Rika smiled.

Serika nervously let go of Reika and sat down at a table.

"First meal's free on the house, though no need to hold back since I assume your friend's paying for it," Rika laughed as Serika scrolled through the virtual menu while glancing over at the physical one.

"Haven't tried takoyaki yet. Gimme some of that," Serika grumbled.

"She can have a fowl mouth, but she means well," Reika explained.

"No need to worry about that. Now lemme go make some takoyaki, oh you want anything?"

"Hmm, perhaps the honey pancakes."

...

"Takoyaki for breakfast?" Itsuki asked.

"Yeah, that girl may act tough, but I can tell she's been trough hell. Itsuki, if my takoyaki's not up to par, remake it yourself. That girl needs to eat the best possible meal in her life," Rika glared as she began cooking.

"I honestly shouldn't let you cook since you aren't fully healed, but I can sense that you're more determined than ever to cook, so I will permit it. This customer only though."

As soon as the takoyaki was ready, Itsuki tried some and gave the thumbs up. Rika nodded and left to deliver the food.

"Sure took a while," Serika growled as Rika placed the food before her.

"That's how it is in busy restaurant. Now dig in and tell me how it tastes," Rika smiled.

Serika touched a takoyaki with her hand, and instantly winced in pain. "The hell is so fucking hot!?"

"Freshly cooked food usually is. I'd recommenced eating takoyaki with utensils," Reika smiled.

"Oh, guess it makes sense. Well better blow on it first," Serika grumbled as she grabbed a piece with her chopsticks, blew on it, and ate it. "Mmph!? Mmmmmmm!"

Tears began to pour out of Serika's eyes as she chewed.

"Well?" Rika asked.

"IT'S SO F****** GOOD! F*** THAT PIECE OF SHIT FOR NEVER LETTING ME EAT GOOD FOOD!" Serika cried as she devoured the plate in seconds.

"Still hungry? Want to try my pancakes?" I don't mind if you eat them all," Reika smiled.

Serika tearfully nodded her head and begun eating the pancakes. "It's so good! I wanna eat more food!" she cried as she cleaned the plate.

"Just be aware that you can get full. We also have an appointment later, though we can always come back here to eat again," Reika smiled.

Just then, Azuki and Mahi stormed into the restaurant.

"We're here to inform you that soon everyone here will be disbarred from cooking," Azuki glared as she stormed up to Rika.

"Bad time for provocations. I'm busy feeding a very important customer," Rika glared.

"Huh? That delinquent's important? She eats like a slob," Mahi glared.

"The hell's wrong with how I eat, huh!?" Serika fumed.

"Foul mouth too. You're exactly the kind of brat that needs to undergo serious reformment when Madam Ookuma becomes Prime Minister."

Serika's heart began to beat faster as she began to tremble. "F*** that piece of shit!" she seethed.

"And what did you say young lady!?" Mahi glared as she grabbed Serika by the wrist.

"Stop now!" Reika ordered.

"You shut up! Madam Ookuma really is a great woman. This girl here needs to be educated so she doesn't become fool-"

CRUNCH! CRASH!

Everyone stared in shock as Mahi went flying through the wall and into the wall of the adjacent building across the street.

"F*** THAT PIECE OF SHIT OOKUMA!" Serika shouted with fury at the top of her lungs.

Reika sighed and calmly motioned for Serika to sit down.

Rika stared out at the bloodied twitching Mahi and whistled. "Not a bad punch. You got a great boxing career ahead of you girl, but try not to get in fights with everyone ya get in a disagreement with," she chuckled.

"Oi, the hell just happened. did she just kill Mahi?" Azuki trembled as she went pale.

Serika immediately began to hyperventilate, however, Reika and Rika stepped in.

"It was an act of self defense. As Miss Komachi stated, she is a fighting prodigy. Now stop the harassment or I'll arrest you," Reika glared as she whipped out her badge.

"Self-defense? I can't even slug someone through a building," Azuki glared.

"I've seen some folks do it before," Rika glared.

"Ah no need to worry about the woman, she's still very much alive and well," Eluf stated as he walked in.

"What was that noise!?" Itsuki shouted as she ran out.

"Oh, your mom just got stupid and tried to brawl with a fighting prodigy. That's the result," Rika snickered as she pointed at the hole in the wall.

Itsuki's eyes went wide, however she maintained her composure and walked outside to her mother. Mahi regained consciousness and immediately began to howl in pain as she clutched her broken jaw.

"Ah good, you're fine," Itsuki glared.

"FINE!? She's bleeding like crazy! Itsuki, when did you become so brainwashed by that heathen that you'd not care about your own mother!?" Azuki glared.

"I was always against father's ideology. I only became his brainwashed puppet because he beat me in a cook-off, but now I'm free. As for my mother, if she picked a fight with someone strong, then she shouldn't be surprised that she ended up like this. Besides, she disowned me anyway, so why should I care about her?" Itsuki glared as she returned to the restaurant.

"Tch, well if you think beating up Mahi will take her out of the headmaster selection, you're dead wrong. We can easily delay the final exam until she's healed up," Azuki glared as she collected Mahi and ran away.

"I'm- I'm sorry," Serika trembled.

"Just be calmer in the future and hold back your strength. You're lucky that woman is alive and doesn't appear to be too injured," Reika stated.

Once a refill on Serika's food arrived, she calmly ate it. Once she was finished, she turned to Rika. "Th- Thanks miss. Food was the best I ever had," she trembled and blushed.

"I can relate to you perfectly. I had a scumbag family that forced me to do things I didn't want to, heck, quite a few of us here did. But one day, I was able to break free of them and live my life the way I wanted to," Rika smiled.

"S- So I can live free... too?"

"Yeah. I look forward to seeing you again and cooking for you. Don't worry about the wall, that bitch is getting billed for it."

"I can see why Bianka speaks so highly of this place, the girls here really are good," Reika smiled as she rose to pay the bill.

"It would be nice if you could help prove the innocence of the girls that aren't here right now."

"It will happen. Ah, and I promise you this. Now that Ookuma will never become prime minister, I'll ensure her party won't gain anymore power," Reika whispered, before leaving with Serika.

"Sorry for causin' trouble," Serika frowned.

"I'm glad you are, though that's why I'll stick by you until you can be strong on your own," Reika smiled.

"But I am strong."

"Yes, though you just need to adjust to your new environment. Learn to be cool and calm, and only throw a punch when there's no other options."

"Umu."

...

Serika trembled as she and Reika walked out of city hall. "That was scary," Serika shivered.

"Don't worry, since you were never seen in public, nobody will recognize you. This is your new life, now it's up to you to make it a good one," Reika smiled.

"C- Can we go back for dinner?"

"Just for tonight. I'm sadly not made of money."

...

"Well look who's back. So want pancakes for dinner?" Rika grinned.

"Shut up, I want dinner for dinner," Serika growled as she walked towards the stairs.

"Gonna check out upstairs? Have fun," Rika called out.

"I'm glad you're getting along with her. She truly needs friends," Reika smiled.

"I know, I can tell she's probably very scared and frightened, but if she's feeling brave enough to banter with me, that's good progress," Rika smiled.

The two ascended the stairs to find Serika staring at the pool.

"Never seen one in person before... I don't know how to swim though," Serika sighed.

"Well it's not too deep so you can probably stand in it," Rika laughed.

"Shut up! I'll learn how to swim!" Serika growled as she walked toward the arcade. She walked up to an arcade machine, but was unable to play.

"You need to deposit payment," Reika smiled as she put a coin in the machine.

Serika nodded and then proceeded to get hooked on the arcade.

...

Serika laid in bed with a big smile on her face. "This was the best day of my life," she smiled.

"You're doing so well, and you've made some friends," Reika smiled.

"Can I trust them?"

"Yes, Rika has a very similar background to you. She was actually with me when I first found you in the woods. Don't worry, she'll never let I.L.U. harm you."

"That's good," Serika smiled as she happily went to sleep.
