Chapter 69:

Sting.

The Lifeless Supermoon: A Fateful Encounter

The game started for just a few moments, and it was already in full force. I couldn't comprehend how fast things were happening. I was amazed as I stared at awe. Then I realised I can't just watch from the sidelines anymore, I had to move, I have to contribute.

I have to concentrate. The ball was passed from one opponent to another, and was slowly charging forward.

"Block them, Kouta!", our captain shouted at me. I realised that they were already close to me, who was at the closer end of our net. It was an emergency. All these times, they were holding their ground. Now its my turn.

I trained a little bit, shot some shots after the basketball game was over and practiced dribbling when no one was around. Combined that with my invisibility and the opponent's looking down on me, and with a bit of luck— no, much much more luck— I surprisingly got the ball!

"Counter!!", I screamed. That was probably my the loudest sound I have ever let my throat make. It felt good emotionally, but not at all physically. I felt my voice crack at the end. But this was my chance, my chance to shine. I can't let that go out of my grasp.

Thanks for my teams support and my senior having my back, I crossed our opponents formation, breaking them apart. I could see it! The net! It was within my grasp! All I needed to do is jump, and throw, and I could make one point for our team, my first point!

"Ouch!", I yelled. I couldn't comprehend what just happened. I did jump. I did everything I could. Did I do it? Did I make the shot? Maybe, I didn't know. But I felt something. Something stung in my knees. My vision, blurred by the sun, couldn't understand what was happening, but my ears heard the sound of defeat.

"Counter!!", someone shouted, and I was sure it wasn't from our team.

"Dammit!", I built up rage inside me. Someone had blocked me mid air and I fell, and they got the ball... it wasn't fair. All of my opponents' bodies were huge. My mind went chaos that I started thinking ill of my own thin body.

"Get hold of yourself, Kouta.", my senior cheered me up.

But in the end, they got that point. I couldn't run as fast for some reason, maybe its because of the stinging sensation I felt all the time. The sun was scorching above us, which didn't help.

A short break followed after our opponent got the point.

"You did great, Kouta! That counter was completely unexpected!", our captain complimented me. He smiled from one side of his face to the other, and grabbed my head and shook it, in an attempt to pat it, but my head was much smaller than his hand.

"Kouta", captain asked. His voice was mixed with concern. I looked up to his face. "Look at your knees! Your bleeding bad!", his forehead creased.

I looked down, and realised the reason of the stinging sensation. It looked horrible. Blood was gushing out and dripping, and some of it dried and became a semi-scab.

"Shit..."
