Chapter 72:

The medieval dance.

The Lifeless Supermoon: A Fateful Encounter

Ayane stood up from her chair when she heard the crowd of the students dulling out into the air. She looked around her surroundings. There was no one inside the classroom. She sighed, feeling a snese of relief.

"So many things happened today...", she contemplated her decision, "Do I even remember how to act?", she inquired herself, doubting her skills that she thought had been lost.

She sat back down, burying her head on the desk with her arms around it. She double checked her surroundings to make sure none was around. Her eyelids felt heavy with exhaustion, thinking about her choice over and over again. Could she really do it? She didn't want to disappoint anyone. She was going to play the main heroine, and a tiny mistake on her part would ruin the whole play. Her body shivered.

A huge gust of cold wind was forced on her body by the open window. It was unusually cold for summer. She noticed the surprising increase of moisture in the wind. Looking through the window, she saw that the sky was upset. A few bursts of light blurred through the dense, purplish-black clouds, their sound muffled— so much that she could hardly hear it— by the thick, floating steam of water.

"It might start raining... ugh...", she moved her body against her wishes. Her body was sluggish because of the moist and cold air. She wanted to stay there and sleep, without disturbance, but she had no choice but to run for home. She took her already packed bag and went out of her classroom, closing the sliding metal door as it made rolling sounds with its frame.

She walked through the empty corridor as it echoed her footsteps. It felt oddly melodic to her ears. Looking behind and in front of her, she suspected for any potential intelligent life. She faked a cough, trying to understand how many echoes she could hear.

"Hehe~", she giggled. A romantic lyrics played through her head, reminding her of medieval dance that couples do during important events. "Well, I am going to act in the play, and the name 'Despised Delight' sounds medieval enough.", she spoke loudly to herself, in a low voice, trying to justify her future course of actions.

Setting her foot and hands accordingly, she tried to mimic the medieval dance, with an invisible partner.
