Chapter 2:

Chapter 2

The next day, I was woken up by a hung over Art making a lot of noise, like a lot. I walked out of my room and shut the door behind me, because Phoebe.

“You look like shit.” I said to Art.

“You scared the sit out of me.” Art said while holding his heart.

“I see that.” I said coldly. “I just came out to get a bottle of water.”

“Ah, okay.” Art responded while looking at the floor.

“I plan on requesting a new room, so don’t worry.” I said in the doorway of my room.

“I see.” Art said softly. “You don’t have to, I apologize for what I said.”

“I’m sure.” I said back as I shut my door.

I wasn't actually going to request a new room, I just wanted Art to feel awkward and regret what he said. I glanced at Phoebe, she was still sound asleep, I put the water bottle down on the nightstand next to her and went on my laptop. I saw news article about the guy I killed. His name was Bow. Remarkably, they had no idea about who did it.

1 Hour Later.

Phoebe shot up from my bed and looked around. She was staring at me and flashed her a smile and glanced at the water bottle and she picked it up and drank it. We sat in silence for several minutes.

“Your room is nicer than I imagined.” Phoebe said in a sleepy voice.

“Thank you?” I said in a confused tone.

“I’m not sure what I was expecting, but it’s nice, I like it.” Phoebe said cheerfully.

“I’m glad you could sleep.” I said back.

“Thank you for letting me stay.” Phoebe responded while looking away from me.

“No problem, we’re like half friends I guess.” I said back, “Well probably not anymore since I’m probably not really friends with Art or Alice anymore.”

“Yeah, I saw the video when you were talking to Art.” Phoebe answered, “That was pretty messed up, and by the way, we are friends now, definitely friends.”

“You sure you can handle that.” I said smiling.

“I think the real question is if you can handle me.” She responded with an even bigger smile than mine.

I ordered food, and Phoebe and I ate in my room, we talked for hours, this was actually the first time she and I talked, I felt like I was actually getting to know her. She didn’t know about any of my family stuff and I felt sympathy from her. Phoebe was actually raised by her older sisters, her parents died in a chemical attack by a faction called Nyxe. She also told me that her sisters only live an hour away from Nowhere, which is nice for her. I looked at my phone, a text from Alice asking to talk, Ignored it then looked at the time, 15:07.

“Want me to walk you home?” I asked Phoebe.

“Could I actually stay here for the weekend, I just really don’t want to be alone.” Phoebe said back softly.

“Of Course, would you like me to walk back with you to grab some things?” I questioned.

“That would be amazing.” Phoebe said smiling. “Thank you for doing all this.”

“All of what?” I asked.

“Saving me, comforting me, letting me stay. I’ve been kind of a bitch to you since I’ve known you.” Phoebe said in a regretful voice.

“Don’t worry the little things Phoebs.” I said standing up. “Also, Art is back, I’m not sure if you want to be seen with me so.”

“We’re friends.” Phoebe said sternly. “I don’t care what he says, or anyone else.”

“If you say so.” I responded shrugging.

“Don’t worry the little things Bal.” She said smiling as I smiled back.

We left my room and saw Art and Alice sitting on the couch talking, they just stared, we stared back. I’m not sure what they were talking about, but it’s none of my business.

“You hooked up with Bal?” Alice questioned.

“No! He helped me out of a situation and I didn’t want to go home.” Phoebe said slightly flustered.

“Interesting .” Art said.

“And you guys care because?” I said rather sternly. “As I recall, we aren’t equals, nor are we friends.”

They both looked away and didn't say anything. Then Phoebe spoke up.

“I’ll be staying with Bal for the weekend for certain reasons.”

“Oh, okay.” Alice said softly.

We left my apartment and started walking toward Phoebe’s sorority, luckily, her place wasn’t of limits with the whole death thing happening. They already had it cleaned up, which was surprising, but also wasn't.

“You can wait down here, ill be quick.” Phoebe said to me.

“For sure.” I responded.

5 Minutes later

“All done!” Phoebe said running down the stairs.

“Don’t fall Phoebe.” I said jokingly as she fell.

I caught her, she instantly turned bright red and I caught an elbow to the side of the head.

“Are you okay?” Phoebe asked as we walked back.

“I’ve had worse.” I said smiling.

“I’m sorry.” Phoebe replied.

“All good Phoebs, only slight harm, but no foul.” I said laughing.

She giggled, we walked back to my building, talking about the most random things, I have to say my impression of Phoebe wasn't the best before, but now I can honestly say, she’s not bad.

A few weeks later

I wasn’t going to lie, my father really bailed me out. I received a call two days ago saying that he handled the whole “accidental” murder. Of course the conversation ended with, “This will be the last time I help you, if you slander my family name again, I will not hesitate to deal with you myself,” It was a tad bit harsher over the phone though.

“Are you even listening?” Phoebe snapped at me.

“Uh yeah of course.” I responded very confused.

“What did I say then?” She said sternly.

“Something about some chick you don’t like?” I said half hearted.

“No, I was saying how I’m still pretty shaken up about what happened, I mean Bal, a lot of stuff happened. When are you going to make up with Art and Alice?”

“I don't know.” I responded, “I’m not sure I will, if I'm being completely honest.”

“Nope, rejected you have to.” She practically yelled.

“Why not?” I interjected.

“Because you’re homies, Art’s, not mine.”

“We’ll see.” I said.

In that moment, Phoebe spotted Alice and Art across the quad,

“There they are! I’ll go get them.” She said excitedly.

“No don’t.” I yelled.

“Fine, ill just yell at them to come here,” she said. “ART AND ALICE-”

Then her voice was just silent. Actually, most of the area around us was silent. I couldn't even hear myself as I opened my mouth. One second I was freaking out because Phoebe was about to call them over and the next no sound. I thought to myself, make a speak and then my voice was heard by Phoebe and then she spoke.

“What just happened?” She said, kinda scared.

“I’m not sure, but I think I might’ve done that.” I said back.

“But you can’t use magic?” She questioned. “Wait. That guy from the party had a special form of wind magic to nullify sound.”

“But why would I have it now.” I asked as we both stared at each other scared, but also in awe.
