Chapter 8:

This sword is not so great!

Kitaji: We Hate this Fantasy World!

As Sebas and I stepped outside, I was immediately struck by the beauty of the gardens surrounding the mansion. The grounds were meticulously landscaped, with vibrant flowers and neatly trimmed hedges creating a picturesque scene. It was an expansive outdoor area, complete with serene fountains and elegant pathways that wound through the greenery.

I couldn’t help but marvel at the sight. “Wow, this garden is stunning. And this whole outside area... it's incredible. But it seems a bit empty.”

Sebas, walking beside me, gave a subtle nod. “Yes, it is indeed quite beautiful. However, I should mention that, at the moment, it’s just the two of us in the mansion.”

I turned to Sebas, surprised. “Just the two of us? How do you manage all of this by yourselves?”

Sebas’s expression remained calm and composed. “It is true that we are currently the only occupants. However, I handle all the daily operations and maintenance with ease. The mansion’s systems and the garden are well-designed for minimal upkeep.”

I raised an eyebrow, impressed.

“So, you take care of everything here alone? That sounds like quite a task.”

Sebas nodded, a hint of pride in his voice. “Indeed, my lord. The estate was built with efficiency in mind, and my experience allows me to manage it without difficulty. It is my duty to ensure that everything runs smoothly, even if it means handling matters alone for the time being.”

It's good that I have such a competent ally here, but I need to find more helpers in the future, I can't expect Sebas to handle everything all by himself.

I took a deep breath. It was my first time seeing the outside world from this vantage point, and the view was breathtaking.

From the hilltop where the mansion stood, I could see the entire town below, its buildings dotting the landscape in neat, orderly rows. The sea stretched out to the horizon, its surface shimmering under the sunlight. It was a vast expanse of blue, meeting the sky in a seamless blend.

“This is quite the view,” I remarked, taking in the scenery. “The mansion is situated really high up.”

Sebas nodded, his gaze sweeping over the vista. “Indeed, my lord. The mansion’s location provides an excellent vantage point, offering a panoramic view of both the town and the sea.”

As Sebas and I continued our walk through the grounds and towards the training field, I couldn’t help but keep glancing at the town below. The view was magnificent, but there was something oddly striking about the center of the town.

Amidst the bustling buildings and streets, there was a massive hole right in the middle of the town. It looked like an enormous crater, its edges rough and uneven. From this distance, it was hard to make out details, but it was unmistakable.

“Sebas,” I asked, curiosity piqued, “what’s with that huge hole in the middle of the town?”

Sebas followed my gaze and looked contemplative. “Ah, that. It’s not just any ordinary hole. It’s actually the entrance to the dungeon where the Relic of Pride is situated.”

"So, it's in the center of the town?"

But why was it in the center of the town? Won't that dangerous?

Sebas nodded. “Precisely. The town was constructed to serve as a barrier and a point of vigilance for the dungeon. Maintaining control over it and ensuring that the relic remains secure is of utmost importance.”

I looked back at the massive hole, now with a newfound sense of respect for its gravity. “That’s quite a responsibility. No wonder you mentioned that managing the dungeon is a serious task.”

Sebas nodded once more. “Indeed, my lord. The security of the dungeon and its contents is paramount, not just for the town but for the entire region. It’s a reminder of the challenges and dangers that come with the power contained within.”

"Dangers huh? Not that I agree with that..."

As Sebas and I arrived at the grassy field, I took a moment to appreciate the surroundings. The open space was perfect for training, with the rolling grass stretching out under the clear sky. I had donned the armor Sebas provided. A simple yet classy piece with a white beast fur cape.

"Now for the weapon..."

I turned my attention to the greatsword lying on a table nearby.

Wait—since when was there a table here?

Reaching out to the greatsword, I braced myself for the expected weight. To my surprise, it was surprisingly light. I could hold it in one hand without any trouble. I lifted it with ease, feeling the balance of the weapon as I gripped the hilt with both hands.

I swung the greatsword through the air, and the whooshing sound it made was exhilarating. The movement felt fluid and powerful.

"Woah..."

I glanced over at Sebas, who was polishing his saber with a white cloth, his movements precise and elegant.

Sebas noticed my gaze and addressed me.

“Are you ready, my lord?”

I gave him a nod, feeling a mix of excitement and resolve.

“Yes, let’s begin.”

And with that, the training session began.

Sebas and I moved to our respective places. I held my greatsword firmly, feeling its weight and balance. Sebas, with his saber in hand, mirrored my stance. We stood in silence, the air charged with anticipation.

As I looked at Sebas, I realized this was the first time I would be fighting since my summoning into this world. My confidence in this fight was tempered by the fact that I had little to no practical experience in combat in this new reality.

But I had played enough games to know that studying your opponent before attacking is crucial. Sebas’s saber was a weapon designed for speed, far quicker than my cumbersome greatsword. This meant I would need to be cautious and strategic.

Sebas’s eyes met mine, and without a word, he made the first move. With a swift, graceful motion, he lunged forward, his saber flashing through the air. I barely had time to react as I swung my greatsword to intercept.

"K-kugh!"

I managed to block the initial attack, feeling the force of the impact resonate up my arms. However, before I could fully recover, Sebas’s movements were already in motion again.

He reacted with startling speed, aiming for my head with a follow-up attack. The strike came so fast that I had no time to react. I instinctively closed my eyes, bracing for impact.

I-Im gonna die!

When I opened them, I was startled to find the point of Sebas’s saber mere inches from my face.

Sebas’s expression was serious as he withdrew his weapon. “Never close your eyes during battle,” he said, his voice steady. “It is vital to keep your focus and awareness at all times.”

“Got it. I’ll keep my eyes open. It’s just... you’re so fast.”

Sebas smiled slightly, a rare sight. “Indeed, my lord. Speed and precision are crucial in combat. You must learn to anticipate and react without hesitation.”

The next few minutes of training were grueling. My sweat was pouring down my face, and I felt as though I was on the brink of collapse. Even if the greatsword wass light to my handling, the exhaustion is starting to build up, and Sebas’s relentless pace was pushing me to my limits. I felt a pang of desperation and exhaustion, almost as if I was going to collapse at any moment.

I paused, feeling a wave of frustration and fatigue. My body was drenched in sweat, and my breathing was ragged. I had to pull myself together. I couldn’t afford to let this defeat me.

Unconsciously, my hand moved to my neck, where the blue flames that usually connected my head to my body now flickered weakly, barely visible. The realization hit me hard: the very mana that kept my head attached was being steadily drained, sapping my energy and leaving me dangerously fatigued.

Sebas noticed my struggle and immediately stopped. “My lord,” he said, his voice calm but firm,

“the mana you’re using to keep your head attached is being depleted, and it’s exhausting you. This is why you’re feeling so drained.”

I looked at him, understanding dawning on me. “You don't mean to say...?”

Sebas stepped closer, his expression serious.

“To fight effectively, especially in prolonged battles, you should practice fighting without your head attached. It may seem unusual, but it will conserve your mana and ensure you can continue fighting without exhausting yourself.”

The thought of fighting without my head attached was jarring, I can't even keep up with Sebas with my head attached, how about not having my head attached?! but Sebas was right. If I wanted to survive and thrive in this new reality, I had to adapt.

“Alright, Sebas,” I said, trying to muster some confidence. “Let’s try it.”

This'll be a whole new challenge.

Sebas nodded approvingly.

“Very well, my lord. We’ll start slow, and I’ll guide you through it."
