Chapter 8:
The Ice Bucket From Hell
That night, I received a visit from Lily in my bedroom. Rather, it wasn’t exactly her.
She had flown through my window as Lily and I had agreed earlier there was no longer any need to take precautions for the night so she wasn't staying the night at my home.
That said, it wasn’t the demoness anymore. The person who visited me was the self-proclaimed angel possessing Lily who handed me a note.
She left as soon as she made the delivery. I watched her float through the gap between our houses and into the window leading into Lily’s room before unfolding the piece of paper she gave me.
It said, “You could have beaten the demon if you just said ‘I love you’.”
It made me realize I was asking Lily on dates due to the challenge the demoness gave us. It felt like an obligation. Something we had to do. A chore.
There were no feelings to it in hindsight, because I never tried to show or tell Lily.
That was probably the reason why the demoness was able to manifest and interrupt our dates because Lily’s heart wasn’t being filled with love.
The note also made me realize I should say those three words from now on if I want to take my relationship with Lily to the next level. Even if she rejects my feelings.
Lastly, the note reminded me that we need to find a way to force the angel out of Lily’s body.
There was another flap hiding a postscript which said,
“Get a haircut.”
“Brush your teeth regularly, especially in the morning.”
“Start using lip balm. Whatever you do, don't get the cherry flavor. They're boring.”
“Your cologne stinks.”
I feel like this angel is going to be bothersome for other reasons.
But, exorcising her is a story for another time.
