Chapter 2:

Chapter 2: Alice and Clara

The hate for one

It was early morning, around 7AM, Alice would have to get up and get ready as it was a school day, how unfortunate. The news reported another death, the sixth one. Over these past few weeks five other bodies had been found strangely mutilated, the police haven’t been able to figure out whos been doing it yet, which sucked. It was currently the first of October, and if this guy keeps killing then they might enforce a strict curfew by the time the 31st rolls around. Alice gets ready and heads downstairs, her mother had already gone to work. It was just the two of them, her mother refuses to talk about what happened to her father or where he went. But it never really bothered her all that much. Alice locked the door behind her as she begin her walk to school, she lived a few minutes away, at the second crosswalk she would meet with her friend.

“ Morning,” Clara greets, “ Morning,” Alice greets her back as they cross,

“So, you see the news this morning?” Clara asks her weirdly excited. Alice lets out a sigh, she already knew where this conversation was going. Clara was smart at school and in general, but for some reason she was fixated on the fact that monsters were the ones doing all these killings. Her only piece of proof is how the people were killed, she believes the strange cut wounds were something a human could never do, but she also believes a human would never do something like this and not leave behind any trace of having done so. She even has a name for this, thing, she calls it the “ The craver” as it carves out people. “ Since tommorrow's the long weekend wanna help me with something tonight,” Clara asks eagerly.

“ Maybe,” she say vaguely. Classes went on as usual, our science teacher reassured us that whoever did it would get caught soon, he and Clara would then argue over whether or not a human or a monster did it. Neither side won. Lunch rolled around, as Alice ate she gets lost in something he had seen last night. Normally dreams mean nothing to her, but this one stood out. It was a house she had never been to, it was one of those old mansion like homes, inside was a strange looking creature, thats all she saw before waking up, she couldn’t recall any of its features aside from its red colored eyes. She decided to tell Clara, which seemed like a bad idea but oh well. She seemed overly excited upon hearing about it.

“ That has to mean something, theres no way you’d suddenly start dreaming about strange looking creatures while their are stranger murders happening!” Clara says as she practically inhales her lunch, “ Or maybe, its because you constantly talk about this and it just happened to be on my mind at the time,” which wasn’t all that convincing. Our final classes were different so we had decided to meet outside, which we did. We say bye for now as Alice heads home to drop off her bag, and let mom know where she’d be for the night. Or not. She was still at work, right. A note should be fine, but just incase she sends a text as well. On my way to Claras Alice began to think, what if she was right? What if their really was some strange creature, and somehow she was being roped into it. Hopefully not.

“ Come on in, my parents are gonna be away this week so its just us!” She says, we hung out per usual, talking, reading, watching whatever's on tv. She hasn’t really said what we were going do though, which was kinda the whole reason why we arranged this get together. We had decided to eat dinner late, like 12AM late. With what felt like another hour go by Clara finally sits up, “ OK, lets go!” Clara says bouncing to her feet, grabbing our jackets and dragging Alice straight to the door,

“ And where are we going at this hour?” she ask slightly annoyed at this point, to which turns to face me, a beaming smile sat plastered on her face,

“ Were going monster hunting!”
