Chapter 9:

A disturbing truth

A ghoulish Lovesung

Mia's heart began thumping out of her chest as she stared at the head. It wasn't just anyone's head, it was Big Guy's. She quickly assumed he had been killed and frantically darted her eyes around, looking for Argus.

It was just her though, and as she cautiously got up, she received a call from Sick-O.

"Mia!? It says you answered, so I'm assuming this is you. Listen, I just learned something disturbing..."

...

"The hell do you mean he's dead!?" Tyler fumed as he drove to the farm.

The officer on the other line nervously affirmed that after receiving an anonymous top, they arrived at the home of Oswald Dennis Osbourne, and found he had been dead for months.

"This guy was on video calls though, what the hell is going on!?"

"That's the other thing. The one who tipped us off has a theory on that."

"What do you mean?"

"I'll just put her on."

"Yes, that is for the best," Angela nodded.

Tyler raised an eyebrow as he recognized Angela's voice. "Hold on, you're the one from before!"

"Yes, though I had to file the tip about Osbourne anonymously in order to actually get you all to check out his place. Now you remember what I mentioned to you before?"

Tyler nodded as Angela continued. "Then there is likely a third party involved that made use of them. Are you nearing the farm?"

"About 10 minutes away."

"Far too much time. Well I shall be en route as well."

...

As Mia frantically ran back to the van, Maya and Shana arrived to find Big Guy waiting for them.

"Where'd Mia go?"

"Oh, we got lost, so I came here to try and get a vantage point, but no dice."

Maya attempted to slap him, but Shana quickly stopped her. "Now, no infighting. We may have mellowed down a bit, but remember, there is still a ghost out there."

Maya shot her a glare, but took her advice and calmed down. She then hopped into the driver's seat and began honking the horn, hoping it would help Mia find her way back.

Mia heard the honking, but was faced by a wall of corn. Not wanting to waste time, she resolved herself and charged straight through the corn. It irritated her skin greatly, but she had to get back at all costs. Especially after what Sick-O had told her.

...

Sick-O parked his car as he arrived just outside the farm's boundaries.

"Well lookie here, you showed up," Oswald sneered as he appeared in front of a tree.

"Oswald! I told Mia about them! Your plan is foiled!"

"Ahahaha! That's a rich one. That bitch can't even make a sound. The hell's she gonna tell anyone that shit you spilled?"

"She'll arrive in time. I have faith."

"Heh, that's exactly what you want, you sick bastard," Oswald chuckled as he vanished.

...

Mia huffed and puffed as she finally arrived back at the van.

"There you are, now hop in, we're getting out of here," Maya smiled.

Mia however began frantically moving her arms around and smacking her head.

"Hmm? Big Guy's dead? Nah, he was waiting here, though that is messed up you found a head, probably someone from the old days," Maya noted as she got out to comfort Mia.

Mia then frantically began pointing at her hair.

"Hmm? Silver hair? What do you mean? Professor Nakiri's hair is blac-"

Stab!

Mia stared in horror as a sword was run through Maya's stomach. Maya coughed up blood and turned around to find herself face-to-face with Shana.

"My, seems the gig is up," Shana sneered.
