Chapter 11:

The Mushroom Girls Pt.1

23 year-old's summer vacation

After she sobered up yesterday, she apologized to me profusely, she said that she got too carried away and said that only because she was drunk. I said no worries, because it made me happy a little bit that there is someone that loves me in a romantic way, and honestly I don't mind if it's her either, she's one of the few friends that I have.

It also makes me not want to go back to the city again though, but I have to go back eventually, Natsuzora Cider needs me, and I need them. My stuff is also still at home; my drums, and game consoles.

If only I could bring them here, but it's too far away.

I'll try to visit here as often as I can, I like this place.

I don't know how long I will stay here, I would like to stay as long as I can, I don't want to go home and meet Mom again.

Speaking of her, she stopped sending messages last night, she usually sends a lot of messages when she's back from work, asking where I am and blablabla. I never respond to them, I don't want to, I like it here.

She probably gave up and just let me do my thing, she probably knows that I will go home eventually.

She's not wrong.

Grandma said a few days ago that my mom doesn't like seeing her effort go to waste, and maybe she's disappointed that I didn't do what she wanted despite her effort. She spent a lot of time and money to get me into college only for me to do something that doesn't have any financial stability and throw away all the effort both me and my mom spent all these years.

She needs to understand that sometimes effort doesn't pay off, we could talk about this calmly and I think we'll reach some kind of understanding, and I won't be running away from home.

"Olivia! Are you home?" Someone is calling from the outside, I think it's Tomori.

I wake up and open the front door, and it is Tomori, "Come on in."

We sit in the living room around the table, "Are you free tomorrow night?"

"I think so."

Tomori pulls two tickets from her pockets and shows it to me like they're a treasure or something, "There's a local band playing in the neighboring town, let's watch it!"

I guess it's been a while since I've seen a concert, I want to know the band though, "What's it called?"

"They're called 'Mushroom Girls', they're amazing. I like how they can make so many sounds with guitars and it just sounds otherworldly, it transports you to another place." She sounds excited telling me about that, I think she likes them quite a bit.

That sounds pretty cool though, I might want to check them out later, um no actually I want to keep it a surprise for me.

"I need to borrow Miho's car though, the trains are not running at night."

"You can drive?"

"Yeah, why?"

"Nothing." I don't know why I thought that she couldn't drive.

"By the way, how does it feel to be on stage?"

"It was awkward at first, I hate being the center of attention, then I started drinking so I feel a bit lighter."

"No no, I mean how does it feel being on stage?"

"It feels like you're brought by the song played I think? So when we play an angry song, I feel kinda angry and just hit my drums harder, or something like that. It may be also because the songs we play are often very emotional."

"So you're becoming one with the music?"

"Basically, yeah."

"I think you guys should do a live show nearby, I want to watch it live, too."

"I want to, maybe if we're big enough to do a tour."

"I listened to more of your band's music, and even though sometimes it can sound disturbing, I think a lot of people will relate to the songs. I think that's the best part of your band."

Yeah, it moved a lot of people, including me. "You should say that to Ruru when the time for us to do a concert here."

"Promise?" Said her making a pinky promise gesture.

I grab her pinky with my pinky, "I promise."

"Anyway, let's go there at 7 pm, I'll drag you out if you're not ready."

"Sure."
