Prologue - Setting

During the span of World War 2, human experimentation occurred under discretion in countries around the world. Soon, after the war ended, the research found from the experimentation went public.

Rather than condemning and punishing those who conducted such inhumane experiments, the newly-founded United Nations went on to implement technologies that were invented and gained from the studies and permitted to sanction such experiments. With the green light lit, other nations had many of their own past inhumane studies published.

Our world has changed drastically since then. The unethical information gathered has led to the invention of cybernetic prosthetics, new weapons, and miracle medicines. The world has revolved around the new information gathered from human experimentation, ensuring high luxury for both the human body and mind. However, with all the biological experiments, viruses, and new sudden mutations have become loose in this new futuristic world.

In such a world where the punishment for committing a crime is to become a human guinea pig, the police have total power over all citizens. It's a dark post-war dystopia where there is no trust in the government and everyone is out to fend for themselves.

To boost productivity, governments around the globe have initiated a subject drafting program. A city is randomly selected, and citizens are allotted a specific number of hours to reach a designated safe zone or evacuate before the military arrives to collect those who remain. This has left many homeless and handicapped individuals vulnerable to the government vultures.

Our story starts a few decades after the war with a group of individuals whose relationships with each other are unknown to us, each with their own motives. Out in the rain in this futuristic city, they try to avoid sentinels and sick people on the streets. With rumors of a safe haven, they are in search of a land where such fear of human experimentation does not exist: Empyrean Paradise.
