Chapter 4:

She's a what?

Cherry: A Blossom Anew

As the day drew to a close, Pai and Taro made their way home from school, while Kel chatted with her friends. "I hope Kel is doing fine," Pai remarked.

"Yeah, she's a resilient person. But speaking of which... How are you planning to explain everything about Sola to Dad?" Taro inquired.

"Easy, I'll just introduce myself; he most likely knows of this situation." Sola appeared, riding a star hovering off the ground. She gazed at the distant skies, which were now shaded in a dark red hue.

"Excuse me! You cannot just appear out of nowhere like this!" Taro protested, looking to his brother for support.

“Hey, Taro, Sola, do you guys see this?" Pai turned around, but no one was near. A force above pushed the boy to his knees, trying to keep him down.

"What the hell is happening?" Pai exclaimed, struggling against the unseen power.

"This is the last time you'll feel so helpless. Embrace your destiny... My king!" a voice declared. In an instant, Pai found himself back in the empty pink space, where the mysterious tiny young woman who had spoken to Mr. Z appeared, now upside down before him.

Her entire glossy body shimmered in a deep red glow, her eyes radiating with intense orange rage. She was about the size of Pai's forearm, and essence seemed to twist among her hair, while red flames flared from both their skins.

"Finally... My perfect match," she declared, holding Pai's face. "Let me help you unlock more of that sun's essence, my king." She kissed Pai on the forehead.

"You're pretty, but what are you?" jokes Pai.

In an instant, a pistol reflected in his pupils, its bright orange hue surrounded by strange symbols. A red beam whirled through Pai's heart, and then she transformed herself into Pai, vanishing before his eyes.

"Now, my king, let the race begin!" she said, her voice filled with delight. Pai couldn't help but laugh heartily. "With our perfect bond, Nova will be within our grasp. We'll take it all for ourselves, and anyone who dares stand in our way will be destroyed."

Suddenly, a flash of gold streaked through the air, and Sola kicked Pai while he was lying on the ground, sending him flying into the bushes. "What the hell are you doing? He's unconscious,” screamed Taro.

Sola casually flicked the blood off her foot. "He was conscious all along, on the verge of unleashing his power and annihilating the entire city! He just completed his bonding, and for most people, newcomers also tend to go on a rampage."

"The city?”

Sola let out a sigh, with a serious expression. "Nothing in life lasts forever; the life you once knew is now behind you. Today, the journey to Nova begins, and we'll need to speak to your father. If my memory serves me right, he can probably help us. But first, we'll need a spaceship."

"A spaceship,” both Taro and Pai questioned simultaneously.

Later, at their house they stood in front of their father, they felt like little kids again, seeking his guidance. "So who's your friend, guys?" Mr Z came out, his mustache sporting some coffee stains.

"She's a new friend of ours; her name is Sola,” answered Pai.

"Oh, interestingly, her name is Sola. Huh, Isn't that something,” replied Mr.Z

"Let's cut right to the point. We're gonna need a spaceship,” demanded Sola.

Before they could explain, a sudden click resonated in the room, and Mr. Z pointed a .44 caliber gun at Sola's forehead. Despite the danger, Sola's golden eyes glowed, and her expression remained unchanged. Her eyes narrowed, resembling a cat's as they locked onto Mr. Z's cold, dark gaze.

"Nice to meet you again, Princess Sola, or should I say, Queen Sola?" Mr. Z's voice was cold and stern.

"She's a what," they both screamed.

"So you do know who I am,” questioned the princess.

Mr. Z nodded. "From a long time ago. But you've lost your memories?"

"Yes, my memories are quite foggy, but I could still sense you from so far away. I couldn't even remember my own name for the longest time, yet I could still feel your presence. Am I going crazy?" Sola questioned, uncertainty lingering in her words.

"Yes, that's right, we were together long ago. You probably weren't sensing me. I'm guessing it was from my son, Taro. Most of my essence and spirit energy has been wiped away."

The fridge opened up, and Pai grabbed a sandwich, trying to ease the tension. "Listen, I was hungry, and some weird shit had been happening lately. I saw this girl; she kissed me today, then just disappeared, and now my whole body is hotter."

Feeling overwhelmed, Pai fell on his knees, his essence emanating faintly from his shoulders. "Listen to me, Pai," Sola said, concerned. "Your insides were clashing together; it was a result of your natural essence merging with your new Seeker abilities."

"Seeker? What the hell is that." Pai coughed, gasping for air.

Sola continued, "This seeker’s power is your ticket to Nova."

"The key of Nova? I never thought I'd hear that again," Mr.Z admitted.

Years ago, Mr.Z stood over his two bloody children. Picking themselves, Mr.Z pointed to a far away hill. “Climb this fifty times, I don’t care if you feel like your feet will fall off,” he ordered.

Meanwhile, Mr. Z cleaned his coffee mug, his expression serious. "This is the reason I trained you both for as long as you can remember – to prepare for this journey. My boys, Nova, is only for a war. I owned a ship; it was in the upper east part of Chitmum. I could book us some flights."

Sola was skeptical, "No, dammit, you wanted us to get blown out of the sky."

"Then what should we do princess,” sighed Taro.

"Road trip,” suggested the star princess.

Mr. Z's large hands waved over the princess. "Excuse me, Princess, you may not remember, but my wife and I once battled alongside you.”

"I don't remember the battle specifically, only the outcome, because I'm all alone…You look much older now,” replied Sola.

"Well, that's because I'm about thirty years older, and you are supposed to be as well. Thank your people for that. I know they still believe in you.”

"I hope you're right, but I feel guilty,” confessed Sola.

"You just didn't fall out of the sky for no reason. You came to my house, you're connected to my son. Seekers attract each other. In some way Nova bonds you all together."

"What is this Nova, Dad? Will someone explain already?” Taro inquired.

"A power that can achieve everything and anything. Many beings from all over vast star systems will chase Nova. Some believe it to be just a myth, but from what I've seen over my life, I believe it's out there somewhere. So let's get a head start ourselves, and get ready for tomorrow."

Sola looks down at her clothes. "Don't worry, Sola, let's go shopping for you because you smell like space grool.”

"Yeah, I know. It was a long way getting here, even with my stars.”

"What the hell is space grool?"

"Is that all you got from this conversation, idiot?”
