Some believe the mystical and secular are incompatible; one will eventually triumph as the dominant belief system. Then there are the entanglements in daily life that prove otherwise.
Concepts in scientific theory and religion tend to come in pairs of three. Freud’s id, ego and superego, or Christianity’s The Father, The Son and The Holy Ghost… History is rife with examples. And, regardless if this fascination is of a divine origin or due to our inability to hold onto more ideas at once (as cognitive scientists propose), it is clear that the secular mingles with the mystical, and vice versa.
