Chapter 1:

Town of Nothing

Werewolf Memories

“Hi and Hello!” Bella greeted. I glared at the parking lot passer by until they waved back. Satisfied, I turned my attention to glass, and metal building. The local supermarket. We grabbed chips, and sodas before turning for the cash register. Amber and Bella bickered over who got to go first as I scanned the room. Basic white floors, and wall. Blue shopping carts. The smell of baking bread. The sound of beeps and squeaking wheels. Eyes on us. I turn and hold the gaze of the person staring, unblinkingly. They blink in surprise, and make there way over. I stand in front on Bella, and Amber who are now stacking there things on the conveyor belt at the same time.

“Hi there. I’m Will Picket. Sorry to bother you it’s just- this is a town we’re every one knows everyone.” In hardly I get defensive. Outwardly on the pinnacle of nonchalant.

“Yeah.” I say simply. He trips over himself to fill the awkward silence. I try not to smirk.

“Well I was just wondering who the new neighbors might be.” He’s tall, but young. Twenty-two like us? He wears nice clothes like most of the people I saw.

“I’m Irene. This is Amber, and Bella.” I say.

“I win!” Bella says triumphantly with two plastic bags in hand. Realizing eyes on her, she turns, blushing.

“Hi.”

“Hello Miss.” Will says. “Irene. It wouldn’t happen to be Irene Black would it?”

“It is.” I say cooly.

“Well my family knew your family. Before they moved I mean. Can’t believe the manors back in Black Family hands. You know my brother is free this weekend. He could help you unpack.” He says.

“Right.” I say skeptically.

“Thank you so much.” Bella says.

“How do you know my family again?” if there’s one good quality about me it’s that I’m protective of my family and friends.

“Well like I said this is a town where everyone knows everyone. And we Grayville townsfolk remember.”

“Ah-huh.” I say. He gives me a look that says he’s not sure what to say now. I open my mouth, but Bella is already dragging me outside before I can say something else rude, and socially out of touch.
