Chapter 10:
Devil's Curse
Kenjiro Ishikawa, the vice commander of the Kurai Kage, stepped forward and knelt before a towering, mysterious figure shrouded in darkness. The figure's face was obscured, only a pair of glowing red eyes piercing through the gloom.
"Commander," Kenjiro began, his voice steady but filled with a mix of awe and trepidation. "During our raid on the samurai academy, I encountered a boy. He bore claw marks on his chest, and around those marks, there was a powerful aura—a demon's curse. It felt as though the demon itself was resting within him."The mysterious figure remained silent for a moment, then a smirk curled on its unseen lips. "Interesting," it murmured, the voice deep and resonant. "Very interesting indeed. This boy may prove to be more significant than we anticipated. Keep an eye on him, Kenjiro. His destiny is intertwined with ours."Meanwhile, back at the samurai academy, the aftermath of the brutal attack was evident. The once-bustling grounds were now eerily quiet, the air heavy with the lingering scent of blood and smoke. The students and staff were slowly regaining consciousness, their bodies aching from the fierce battle.
Ryuji lay motionless on a cot, his brow furrowed as he was lost in a tumultuous dream. In his mind's eye, he found himself in a vast, shadowy expanse, confronted by a mysterious figure with an irregular, ever-shifting shape. The figure's presence was overwhelming, and it spoke in a hauntingly familiar voice."You must take revenge," the figure repeated, the words echoing through the void. "Revenge."
Ryuji, bewildered and desperate, cried out, "Who are you?"The figure's smile was all he could see before he jolted awake, shouting and drenched in sweat. His sudden outburst startled the others who had gathered around him."Ryuji, calm down!" one of his friends urged, concern etched on their face. "It was just a nightmare."Ryuji's breathing was heavy, his mind racing to piece together the fragments of his dream. "It felt real," he muttered, more to himself than anyone else.
Master Kenshin entered the room, his presence commanding immediate attention. His eyes, filled with both sorrow and resolve, met Ryuji's. "There's no time to waste," Kenshin said gravely. "We have received orders from the upper authorities. It is time for you all to receive the demon's curse. The urgency of our situation demands it."The weight of Kenshin's words settled over them, the gravity of their predicament sinking in. Together, they made their way to the demon chamber, a place where the ancient rites of cursing were performed. The chamber was a cavernous hall, lined with intricate carvings and sigils that pulsed with dark energy. As Ryuji stepped forward, ready to enter the chamber, a sudden shift in the atmosphere was palpable. The demons, who had been lurking in the shadows, turned their attention to him, their eyes widening in shock. An unsettling murmur rippled through the ranks of the demons, and without warning, they charged towards Ryuji, their expressions a mix of awe and hostility.
The guardians of the chamber quickly intervened, restraining the demons with practiced ease, but the intensity of their reaction was undeniable. The reason remained a mystery, but one thing was clear: Ryuji's journey was far from ordinary, and the path ahead was fraught with dangers and secrets yet to be unveiled. The shadows of his past were beginning to converge with his present, and the true nature of his curse was only just beginning to reveal itself.
