Chapter 50:

Getting away from her, finally

Crimson Power Black Feather

Sobue returned from the bathroom, fresh and clean, wiping his head with a towel. He was dressed in pajamas because that's what Kiyo brought with her. He turned to her, irritated, showing off the look.

"Listen, you," he pointed at Kiyo, "you couldn't find normal clothes? I told you where everything was, and you brought pajamas?"

"Hostage-kun, I thought it was a summer suit. It has a shirt and pants, doesn't it?" Kiyo squinted her eyes and folded her hands as if in a frame, looking at him, "a straw hat would complement the look. You look like the model on the beach. Your blue hair is almost the same color as the suit!"

He rolled his eyes, tossing the towel on the couch.

"We should leave." He said to Sora.

"Wait," Kiyo ran towards him, clanging onto his elbow "you are still a hostage, remember?"

He pulled out his hand, looking at Sora, "Aren't they here to save me?"

Sora remembered how she promised to help kill him, she stood up. "Of course, Sobue, we are!"

"Hey," Kiyo frowned angrily, feeling betrayed, "you promised to help me!"

Sobue turned his head, "Excuse me?"

Sora ran towards him, taking his hands, "No, no don't misunderstand. I thought you were a player. It seems there was a misunderstanding!"

"Oh my god, you actually sold me to a crazy lady?!"

"No, Sobue, believe me, we will go home now. She won't touch you anymore. Maki here," she nodded towards him, and he waved to Sobue, "he is stronger, so no need to fight even. You will be home soon."

"No, you actually sold me, I can't beleive it!" He was beyond mad.

Sora looked at Maki, pleading eyes. He sighed, walking closer.

"Listen, Sobue-san, I will take you home safely. Kiyohime won't take you hostage anymore, Kiyohime, say it."

She stood there, opposing this idea. There was no way she'd agree to this. She stared at Maki with despise.

He said, calmly, "There is no use. Let him go, you know there is no way you can beat me up."

"Okay. But, hostage-kun, you should know that I am main friends with Sora now," she clung to Sora, unexpectedly, "so you can't try stealing her. And she promised to take me to hang out with you! So you will have to see me now."

"Oh god, Sora, "main friend"?" Sobue looked at them all, thinking it's an insane situation to be in. "I am done, let's leave already."

"Hm , Sobue-kun, are you okay with walking in pajamas?" Sora felt awkward asking him.

"Shit. I forgot. Well, you know what, I don't care anymore. Just let me leave already, I can't see her clingy face anymore." He turned around, retiring from the room.

Everyone followed, Kiyo still holding Sora close. On the first floor, she finally let go, sighing. "I will see you soon. I know where both of you live, so you better reply to my texts!"

"Oh, right, give me back my phone!" Sobue stood outside of the door when he remembered. Kiyo felt disappointed that she mentioned texting. She hoped he'd forget about the phone, and would have to return. She handed him the phone, sad. He continued, "You forced your phone number onto me. I won't reply to you, so you know."

"But I know where you live and can tele-" She stopped after Maki rapidly turned his head. "I can come and stalk you!"

Sobue rolled his eyes, dismissing her with hand gesture.

Sobue, Sora, and Maki left Snake's house. Sobue was visibly mad, unwilling to talk to Sora. Maki wouldn't start a conversation, so he just walked next to the other two. Sora was in her head, thinking about the plan of retaliation. She glanced at Sobue occasionally, hoping he would look back.

They walked like this to the station, no one saying a word. Finally, Sobue turned around, looking at her. "You almost sold me, but you saved me. So I guess it's okay that you almost did, but didn't. I am thankful to both of you." He bowed to Maki.

"Hey, why only him?" Sora teased, feeling relief.

Sobue turned to her, annoyance in his eyes made her stop. She waved her hands, smiling. "He-he, okay okay, I will not tease you. It's good we found you, I was worried. I think we did a good thing by thinking you were not depressed and on some weird road trip situation. I would never believe that you would do that."

"Sure, I am glad," Sobue's tone was sarcastic.

"Hey, hey, Sobue-kun, you are okay, that's all that matters. Now you can go home and sleep properly. We all can have some rest. Maki-kun will follow you if you are afraid."

"No need. I think it's safe. Thank you again, I need to sleep indeed. These two days with her... I am exhausted. She made me watch some weird horror movies, yak." He shivered.

"Oh, I wonder..."

They continued their conversation, while Maki zoned off. He just received a text from Kōga. It looked like this:

"Hi, I think today we are watching How Harry Met Sally. You'll like it, I'm sure. It's funny. Please come at 23:00."

He couldn't believe his eyes. He truly made it happen? It was Kōga who proposed to meet. Maybe their last encounter wasn't so bad after all. He couldn't suppress a smile. He looked at the clock. It was already 21:30. So there was some time left, but not too much. He felt happy. Suddenly he felt a tag on his sleeve. Sora was saying something, and he returned to reality, still hugging his phone like an idiot. Realizing that, he rapidly hid it in his pocket, turning to her.

"Maki-kun, Sobue left, we saw you were preoccupied so we didn't bother you. I should go too. But maybe you can come with me instead? I am a bit worried about being alone this late. I won't bother you, I promise!" She looked at him.

He had some time to kill anyway, so he agreed. All the way home, on the train, on the street - she didn't shut up about the different anime she was watching. He didn't mind it though. They could talk about the new BL series too. There was no one to discuss these things with, so he was happy.

Overall, Monday was a success so far. He smiled, waving her goodbye in front of her house. The time was 22:10. He wanted to buy some sweets this time.

I wonder if Kōga likes sweets?
