Chapter 2:
Split Seconds
It was already eight o'clock when Carol finally opened his eyes, it has been a week and a day since he had that discussion with Michael concerning the Quantum Acceleration project test. "Carol come down for breakfast" his mom called out to him, "don't worry you can stay in bed all day today if you want to" his dad said. The moment he heard that voice he was out of bed in an instant not out of fear of his dad, but because he knew if he spent another moment in bed he won't be getting any breakfast because his dad will eat it all up, so he wasn't taking any chances.
Upon coming down the final flight of stairs, he almost crashed into his mom who was passing by to set down down breakfast on the table, the reason he isn't preparing breakfast alongside his mom is because he had to do some house chores the day before. "good morning mom" he greeted his mother "good morning handsome how are you feeling today" his mom replied "mom I have told you to stop calling me that". "I won't stop calling you that because you are my handsome".
Carol Brown is a young man in his early twenties six feet two inches tall with dark hair and brown eyes, with a slender stature between not too bulky and not too slim, with a handsome and pretty face he refuses to acknowledge, saying cute words are for girls who are the pretty like his mom not him.
On getting to the table he greeted his dad who was already seated at the table "good morning dad he greeted his father, "good morning son" his father replied, he took a seat beside his father, three minutes later his mom was at the table with them, after saying grace, they started to eat. It took about fifteen minutes for them to finish breakfast, he took the plates to the sink washed them and rinse them, tidied up the kitchen and told his parents he was going to meet up with Michael, for a school assignment, he went upstairs got is bag and started to come back downstairs and he dad says to him "stay out of trouble", "sure no problem" he replied and heads out the door. "He isn't telling us everything is he" his dad said to his mom, "he isn't, just let him be a teenager" his mom sighed, "I just don't want him getting into trouble that's all".
