Chapter 1:
The Electric Heart Club!
Mission starting the club~
Day: 1
Kenzo knew he was screwed. He was not necessarily the most socially awkward dude out there, but to make new friends in a span of a week? He would have to report to Mrs Ami by the end of this week, meaning he had till next Monday to come back to her office and announce to her the main cast of the club, the 6 of them.
He only had one true friend his entire school life, and now he needed to magically conjure up 4 more?
Kenzo was having all these thoughts float through his head as he moved to get himself up, groaning as he realised it was the another day at school and that he was now going to be super obvious to his classmates that he had zero dates. He reasoned that he can probably make up a fake girlfriend and explain that she attends another school to satisfy their questions, at least until the club opens up and he can be open about his predicament to his club members, if he can even find people willing to participate in this.
"Yoo ready for school my favourite nephew!" Barged in his uncle Jack, his long untied blonde hair flowing as he floated into the room, radiating with energy and was beaming ear to ear. He also had apparently zero respect for privacy.
"Thanks for the convenient exposition of our relationship unc, also you are not my unc, (now its my turn for exposition) you are just really good friends with my dad. Would be impossible for me to have an American uncle..."
"Bro don't be a downer, I legit would have given birth to you if I was your mom, that's how close we are!" Jack said nonchalantly as if everything he said made sense
"I am not entertaining this conversation" mumbled Kenzo has he started to get out of his bed, "and please for your sake knock next time."
"Well I actually wanted to talk to you about getting zero bi- I mean your dating situation..."
Kenzo paused and then looked bewildered at his fruncle (dad friend and uncle by that association)
"How did you know about my LifeHelper not assigning me a love interest?"
"Well you tried to desperately hide it, but your family and me all noticed after you came home last evening. I mean I was at my home when your dad called me last night and told me what he noticed about you. How that you were mumbling to yourself and deep in thought, not telling them anything as you ate dinner and went to your room. We knew then that you were not given anyone, if you had someone you'd be asking about how to impress them or whatever with us..."
Kenzo scrunched up his face and frowned, he then realised how awful he was at hiding his feelings.
"I am sorry, I wish I could just be open but its so embarrassing, and I didn't want dad and mom to think I was any more of a failure than I already am..."
Jack's face softened noticing the change of tone. He knew exactly what Kenzo was referring to. That bad episode still casts a dark shadow in Kenzo's past. In fact it could even be the reason the LifeHelper might have malfunctioned in giving him a date. With that all being said it was no time to dwell in the past.
"You are my friend's son Kenzo, your dad has done amazing things for me all throughout my life and it is why I am so loyal and close to your old man, to the extent your mom wants to kick me out of the house with how much I hang around. You are just like your dad, no...you are even better! Of course your dad went on a crazy death tournament when he was your age but you are battling your demons too! I'll let you go get ready but remember this Kenzo, you are an amazing person yourself and you will see if you open your eyes, that there are people, not just us, who are loyal to you...Even if you are not assigned the person you love, it does not mean you are unloved, it just means that you have the freedom to hopefully find someone else that fits your vibe! Of course the search is going to be harder now to find someone without a partner attached to them but do not give up at all! When your mother and father were assigned to each other, they were in completely different places in Japan, if they can make it work, you can too!"
Kenzo felt his eyes welling up a bit as he gave Jack a nod to acknowledge him cheering him up.
"Thank you uncle....just do not barge in next time, I mean it"
*****
"Daiki!"
The boy who's name was called turned around and gave a sharp smile at his caller. Kenzo was rushing to catch up to his friend, this was the first time they were meeting in the new year, Daiki did not show up for the first day as his family had overextended their holidays by one day, so he had an extra day off and thus was not at school yesterday.
Like most times, Kenzo could not find himself focusing on Daiki's face. Even though the boys have known each other for so long, Daiki was a specimen of a person. His face was sharp in all the right places, but it also held a glow that made him insanely approachable. His luscious white hair cascaded over his face, covering one of his eyes as it draped stylishly over it... and his eyes... his emerald sparkling green eyes. He looked like the winning boy in a reverse harem or the hero in a shoujo manga. With his looks, one would suspect that he would be the most popular kid in class, and they would be right in their assumption. However the only reason he was not classified as one was because he was Kenzo's friend. To be considered elite you needed to hang out with the elite, and as Daiki was Kenzo's friend, and Kenzo himself was not the elite, they did not seem to want to have Daiki in the upper echelon of the social hierarchy. Not that Kenzo found that surprising, their initial arc into becoming friends perfectly explained the scenario they were in, and their amazing relationship. With Kenzo quickly reminding himself of it, he realises there may be some truth to what his uncle Jack told him.
Kenzo suddenly felt that he had forgotten to describe himself and decides he will reveal his appearance in a latter issue, it builds up an air of mystery. (probably a more accurate reason is because it helps with the self insert feature romcoms have).
"Hey Kenzo! How was the break!" The boys decided to do their favourite secret dab up and then did a little chicken dance as they were happy to see each other again outside the school entrance gate, ignoring the looks they were getting. They have been best friends for so long it did not matter to them what other people thought of them.
"Man....its been pretty chill, ye know watching movies and shows over the summer and taking walks and all, really slow and chill. What about you bro?" Kenzo answered, beaming to be able to talk to his friend again.
"Ah bro that's so cool! We didn't do much. My dad just had an itch to go around the world so we did that for about 5 weeks, going to different countries and having a stop for a meal at each. Of course we took the private jet so it was possible to do it that fast but other than that it was no biggie"
Kenzo stared bug eyed at his obviously ignorant best friend, but then shook his head and congratulated his friend with his fun adventure. Kenzo was aware that Daiki was from money, but with how casually he still shares stories, it still catches Kenzo off guard. ( Thankfully the climate change club members are not in their class, they would have a meltdown listening to this story).
"Sounds fun man, but of course, now the big question..."
"Yea Kenzo I got myself a girlfriend!"
"Oh...that's awesome man!" Kenzo responded, a part of him did wish that Daiki might have been in a similar situation as himself so he felt less lonely, but a larger part of him was super happy for his best friend for getting a person to be with the normal way.
"Well I didn't get to meet her yet, but I hope I can find her, she's probably not in this school as her name doesn't seem to be of someone here..."
"Well don't worry bro I can help you find her. Always got your back bro, but I actually wanted to ask you about joining...."
The bell rang which prompted Daiki to suddenly remember where they were and start sprinting indoors, he threw his his over his shoulder as he yelled back at Kenzo who was struggling to keep up with the much faster Daiki
"Sorry for not letting you finish, you tell me all about your girlfriend and what you want me to join once we finish first class, we gotta be inside first though!!"
"Sure bro see ye then!" Kenzo gasped out as his stamina was dropping dramatically as he try to keep up with his friend, who was sprinting like an antelope.

"Welcome to homeroom all of you...before I let you all prepare for class, I have an announcement to make"
The teacher sighed as he mumbled out the line, but noticed no one was paying attention. Most of the guys were glaring at Daiki, as their partners were dreamily staring at Daiki. The only two people who seemed to be giving an inkling of attention to the class teacher was Daiki and Kenzo.
Kenzo thought that he did not blame the girls at all. If he swung that way, he would definitely take the opportunity of giving Daiki a shot, he's pretty much the ideal person, but for a moment, he was feeling happy for being single.
"Well..." seeing the palpable tension in the class the teacher decided he will go ahead with the announcement. "We have a new transfer student...her name is..."
Before he could finish his sentence, the class sliding door was thrown open with a loud bang. The class all threw their attention to the front of the class as the newcomer walked their way to the front, before pivoting to face the class.
"S'up, name is Sakura, lovely to meet y'all or whatever..." She blew a bubble-gum, the sound of her blowing it before popping it was all that filled the awkward silence of her short introduction.
"Uhh Miss Sakura, we do not allow chewing gum here in class..."
"I have a medical certificate for necessary gum chewing" She said, her hands in her pockets as she cocked her head sideways as her eyes scanned the class, looking for something. Her blonde hair, her varsity jacket over her school uniform paired with her intentionally rolled up short skirt immediately registered in Kenzo's mind that she was the stereotypical yankee girl.
Her eyes then suddenly landed on someone before she called that person out.
"Are you Daiki?"
Daiki shook his head at the sudden mention his name and then instinctively stood up from his seat, as if he was called out by the teacher.
"Ahh yes? How can I help you miss...?"
"You can help me by giving your wife a kiss cuz..." She chuckled seeing the shock reverberate in the class with her boldness before bringing her LifeHelper watch to the view of the class and finishing her sentence, "You are my chosen partner".
Damn...things just a bit more complicated, thought Kenzo.
