The day at the Elite Academy of Ilenia had been like any other. Kaito had taught his classes, mostly filled with students who didn’t seem too interested in learning. His lessons were met with bored eyes and sighs, as the noble students were only focused on their grades, not the knowledge. Kaito was exhausted not just physically, but mentally. He was tired of the routine, tired of the constant back-and-forth between teaching and keeping his temper in check. Everything felt repetitive. It was like a wheel turning endlessly, without a destination in sight.
After finishing his duties as a teacher for the day, Kaito returned to his small room in the academy. With no more work waiting for him, he sat on his bed, raised his legs, and let himself sink into the silence. The room was still, except for the occasional distant sounds from the outside that filtered through the window.
Kaito glanced over at the small desk next to his bed. A thick book lay open there, but he wasn’t interested in reading it. Nothing in this world, not even the magic and adventure, seemed to grab his attention anymore. His mind wandered.
"Why the hell is there no entertainment in this world?" Kaito muttered, his voice barely audible. "In my world, there were TVs, smartphones, games... but now, I’m stuck in a fantasy world like this. Hell, I can’t even smoke anymore. I’ve been craving a cigarette for days."
He sighed deeply. Without thinking, his hand reached for his jacket pocket, a reflex from his past. But as his fingers searched, he felt only emptiness.
"I haven’t smoked in so long?" Kaito thought, confused. "That’s weird. I was addicted, but somehow, I’ve been holding up."
Kaito stared out the window, his gaze drifting toward the city of Ilenia below. It was full of life, with its busy streets and grand buildings. It should have been exciting, yet it felt… empty. Despite the magic and wonders, he couldn't shake the feeling of something missing.
"This is such a boring day," Kaito complained, his frustration growing. "But I’ve got to stick with it. I’m here to protect Rena, after all."
With that, Kaito decided to take a walk around the city. He’d been cooped up in the academy for too long and thought a little time outside might do him some good. Maybe he could find some form of entertainment, even if it was just to clear his mind. He left his room and walked through the back exit of the academy, heading toward the city center, a place full of life, magic, and, for him, a sense of alienation.
(The City of Ilenia)
The city of Ilenia was full of contradictions. There were narrow cobblestone streets lined with shops selling potions and magical artifacts, but there were also luxurious buildings where the nobility spent their time. Kaito walked lazily through the streets. Although there were no smartphones or digital entertainment, the city itself was an interesting distraction. Even though there were magical wonders around him, Kaito still felt empty. People bustled about, but to him, they felt like strangers in a world that he didn’t belong to.
As Kaito wandered, he soon noticed something familiar. He stopped in his tracks. Livia was sitting at a noble bar, surrounded by a few people, chatting intimately over drinks.
Kaito approached slowly, keeping his distance and blending into the crowd. From his hidden spot, he could hear part of the conversation.
"Did you see Rena today?" Livia asked one of her friends, her voice dripping with disdain.
Her friend nodded, as if knowing exactly where this conversation was headed.
"She really doesn’t know her place, does she? A commoner daring to get close to Prince Alex," Livia continued, laughing softly. "I can’t let that slide."
Kaito listened intently, his anger rising. It seemed like Livia wasn’t done with Rena yet she still wanted to humiliate her in front of the others, especially the noble students.
"What’s your plan this time?" one of her friends asked, their voice quiet but curious.
Livia smiled deviously, her eyes gleaming with ambition. "I’ll make Rena look foolish in front of the whole class. I’ll show everyone where she truly belongs."
Kaito clenched his fists. He had thought that Livia’s schemes were over, but it seemed she had more in store. She planned to make Rena suffer, and Kaito couldn’t just stand by and watch. The more he heard, the more his anger boiled.
"What is she planning now?" Kaito muttered to himself, frustrated and disgusted.
Livia, oblivious to Kaito’s presence, took a sip of her drink, satisfied with herself.
"With a little magic, I’ll make sure everyone knows who really belongs at the noble table," Livia added, her tone full of confidence.
Kaito could feel his blood boil. He wanted to step in, confront her, but he knew that charging in without understanding the full picture could make things worse. Still, he couldn’t just let this go on.
"Damn it! What’s her problem? I can’t let her do this," Kaito thought, his hands shaking with anger.
Livia continued to chat with her friends, oblivious to the storm that was about to break.
(Back at the Academy)
After leaving the bar, Kaito walked through the city, trying to calm his mind. As he moved through the streets, he realized something: while this world didn’t offer the same kinds of entertainment or distractions as his own, it still held a certain beauty. But the more he lived in it, the more he realized that this world was full of intrigue, deception, and people with hidden motives.
"I have to act before it’s too late," Kaito thought, his expression darkening. "Livia is up to something, and I can’t let her get away with it."
As he walked back toward the academy, Kaito steeled himself for what was to come. He knew that this wasn’t just about teaching or protecting Rena. It was about confronting those who threatened her, and that meant taking on Livia’s schemes head-on.
"I have to be careful about how I handle this. If I push too hard, Rena might end up in a worse position," Kaito thought, his mind racing. But deep down, he knew that he had to act. For Rena. For justice. He couldn’t let Livia get away with this.
(Closing the Chapter: The Uncertain Path Ahead)
Later that evening, Kaito returned to his room, sat on the edge of his bed, and stared at the ceiling, lost in thought. He couldn’t shake the feeling that things were about to get much more complicated. The academy, the people around him everything seemed like a puzzle he couldn’t quite solve.
But one thing was certain: no matter how difficult it got, Kaito wouldn’t back down. He would protect Rena, no matter what it took. He wasn’t just a teacher in this world he was someone who would fight for what was right.
