Chapter 6:

Thoughtful gift

Synthetic Love

"Where did you get the nerve to sell yourself to Camela? You're incredibly suspicious" Glen, who seemed less than pleased, as he escorted me to my room. Since this is a full time job. I need to stay where the boss stay

"Are you some obsessed fan looking to worm your way into our lives?" He added
I felt taken aback by his harsh words, well, I couldn't blame him for being cautious, but I had my reasons for taking this job.

"I am not a stalker at all" I replied

"I don't know if you have some hidden agenda" he continued.

I didn't say anything and keep quiet instead

"You'll have your own room close to Camela and there are rules in place for your job as her bodyguard. It's a well-paying position, but it demands complete obedience and loyalty. Failure to meet her demands can lead to severe consequences. “He explained as he opened the door which I assume my room

"I just have to fulfill this role and then I'm out" I thought to myself

"It's almost night. Take a rest "Glen said “I’ll take my leave “he added and started walking away

My eyes darted nervously, a sense of guilt washing over me as I glanced at the big door “so this is Camelas room”

I opened the door. The room was spacious, and decorated with a minimalist style but one thing that captures me the most is her wall as bookshelf

I started planting the hidden camera in strategic location ensuring they were placed discreetly for optimal surveillance. The soft glow of the camera's indicator light was the only sign of their presence in the dimly lit room.

What if she discovered them, or worse, changed her clothes while being recorded?

“What if I capture cringe-worthy scenario??”I cringed

The thought made me queasy, raising questions about my actions and their potential consequences. I felt a knot in my stomach

"This is so impure!"

My mind started racing with thoughts - what if someone discovered that we had planted a camera in Camela's room? Could I be sent to jail for such an invasion of privacy? The thought made me feel uneasy and a little guilty.

Back in my room, I turned on my laptop, the cameras' live feed displayed on the screen.
It’s already 6 pm

I watched as Camella entered my room her movements eerily motionless, she was just sitting on her bed still, barely even blinking.

Hours passed, and my irritation grew as I observed Camela through the cameras. She remained eerily still, Frustration and confusion boiled within me,

My heart skipped a beat as the realization hit me. I imagined the potential consequences if Camella changed her dress while the cameras were still hidden. The thought made me panic

"Am I being a perv?"
Of course not!

I grew increasingly disturbed as Camela continued to stand perfectly still in the same position for more than an hour without any movement. Her lack of movement was unlike anything I had experienced before.

How could anyone could remain so motionless for such an extended period?
I'm sleepy....

**

Did I fall asleep? I thought
I glanced at the clock on my bedside table" its morning already”

A knock on my door pulled me from my thoughts. Glenn stood there, his expression urgent, stating, "Camela and I have something urgent to do. Consider this as your day off." He swiftly left, leaving me

“But todays my first day “I tried to protest

Without a moment's hesitation, I grabbed my jacket and decided to follow them, hoping to uncover whatever business they had.

I sneaked into the garage, starting up the motorcycle and following them unseen. I observed they were headed for the hospital.

"Asking questions at the nurse station or sneaking into their doctor's appointment would be too much work,"

Following them into the hospital itself might not yield much information. .

I parked the motorcycle at a distance and slipping quietly into a nearby tree, I settled on a sturdy branch, offering a clear viewpoint.

As I continued observing my surroundings, I noticed a commotion a short distance away. Group of 3 medical staff transferring a patient.

I strained to see them better and was shocked when I spotted the patient, who oddly looked exactly like Camela.

And a sense of disbelief washed over me.

Were my eyes playing tricks on me? Could it be that I was mistaken?

"Is that really her?" In a swift motion, I jump into the tree and landed perfectly on the ground

“Gerald?” I turned around, startled to see Camella standing behind me, her presence unexpected. I was still trying to comprehend what I had seen earlier.

"I saw you being taken out!..." I stammered

"What are you talking about? I think you're seeing things, Gerald. Maybe you're overworking yourself, and it's causing you to hallucinate" she replied,

"And also, are you following us?"Camela's expression turned cold, her eyes narrowing.
"What are you doing here? “I asked

"I don't owe you an explanation" she said, her voice cold "You're just the bodyguard. It's not your concern. Your job is to protect me, not to pry into my personal life. “She added

"And to answer your question, I have some burns from the incident, which is why I'm here." She paused

"And Glenn is still inside the hospital taking care of some matters for me."

"Please go home." her tone firm as she turned around and walked away
this is absolutely not the outcome I had expected

Then I received a notification from my phone

A text message?

__________

Meet me at the coffee shop near the park in one hour. It's important. - Primrose."

____________

I guess I had no choice but to show up

I entered the cafe, feeling my heart skip a beat as I spotted Primrose.

She caught sight of me and gestured for me to join her at her table. "Please, have a seat," she said, offering me a seat.
Primrose leaned in, her eyes studying me intently

"How was your first day on the job?"

"Today's my day off"

"Did you notice anything unusual about Camela?"

I remember the weird thing happened in Camelas room "Nothing much “I lied

"By the way, I already transferred money from your bank account “primrose said
I nodded

"Does Camela have a twin sister or something?"

Primrose shook her head "No, Camela's an only child," she replied firmly.
I showed her a photos revealed the girl in the hospital, who look exactly like camela
"Earlier this morning, I saw the girl at the hospital who looks exactly like her." I explained

"It's getting late anyways I’m leaving “I said and I marched away from the coffee shop leaving primrose

As I returned to Camela's mansion, I was met with an unexpected sight at the door. There she stood with poised elegance, a black box adorned with a red ribbon in her hands.

"I'm sorry about what happened earlier “Her gaze fixed on me, a subtle smile playing on her lips as she waited, holding the box and handed it over to me

As I opened the box, puzzled, I found an elegant watch

"Since I intentionally damaged your watch the other day, I am obligated to replace them. Consider this box of new watch as compensation. “She nodded

"Nope. Don't want it "I shortly replied and hand it back to her

I was about to walk pass to her when Camela extended the black box toward me

"I shattered your watch so I thought it would be appropriate to replace it" as she wrapped it around my wrist
