Chapter 3:
The Electric Heart Club!
POV: Daiki
Night: 1
Daiki was contemplating what went down the entire of yesterday. He had neatly gone through his night time skin care routine and was ready to head off to his super king sized bed. Right now he was wrapped up in his Gucci pyjamas (very self indulgent but it was his parents that chose the outfits, he would much rather just have a regular closet) as he sat on his desk, writing in his diary the things that went down today.
Dear Diary,
Today was very interesting. I was ready to go on a hunt to find Sakura with Kenzo after class since I knew she was definitely not someone from school. All the watch really gives people is the full name of their partner and their contact number, but for Sakura's case her number was not in the notification. I did not expect her to move to this school herself to find me. She is pretty cool for that, besides the obvious wack conversation we had, she has definitely an interesting story behind her. I got some more confidence after having a chat with Kenzo, got to thank him for this as he basically always got my back and told me to not think too deeply about this and let him help. The club he proposed is definitely going to work out, I hope so at least. It is one of the things Kenzo is committed to, due to him not having a partner himself. I feel bad for the guy, and I definitely would want to help him as much as possible. I am going to apparently buff up my banter mode, if I want this to work out, I personally am decent with Kenzo, but having someone else to talk to? For me..
Daiki paused as he looked up from his diary to the large bedroom of his. Despite him lounging in a large mansion built like a dream house, the house itself had little to no life. His family had gotten rid of the butlers after the last recession (Daiki had no anime like butlers doting and caring for him like he wished) and so the house mainly stands quiet in its isolation, devoid of activities as both of his parents are working. They both being joint CEOs of Darv Industries. He has no idea what they do but he would not be surprised if they were big biotech company heads that were running some illegal drugs that might accidentally give a passer by superpowers and force them to duke it out. (everyone is bound to have skeletons in their closet Daiki reasoned).
Back on topic, he never really had much experience socialising. His parents only took him on family trips when they were free (probably to simulate being good parents) and the rest of the time they spent on their work, disregarding Daiki. All his friend moments revolve around Kenzo, they hit it off after a particular day 5 years ago. Since then all the buddy buddy and bromance he developed was through Kenzo. In fact, while he might have the looks of a popular kid, Kenzo was the guy that Daiki knew had the potential of being the social king. If he just yapped his way to the top. Kenzo though was down to earth, he did not care about popularity and that of course led him to the current standing they are at apparently.
Daiki was well aware of all this. He may be an airhead in conversations, but he wants to try. Maybe that is why Sakura was his chosen person? Was she the person who would help come out of his shell? Not that Kenzo didn't, but he imagines Sakura is going to be the next step in this life of his, and the more he thinks of it, the more true it seems.
But how did she find out where he was? She did not call him up. Why did she move to the school? Why does she not have a contact number assigned to her? So many questions were bubbling in his head, he was not able to have another conversation with her that day to figure this all out. Daiki hopes that he could confront her again and have a discussion with her, clarify these things and maybe figure out the next steps.
One other thing did bother him though. While he had her full name on his watch, he remembers when she did her dramatic display in class, brandishing her watch with his name on it, it only seemed to contain his first name, just "Daiki". He was not sure what to make of it but like he figured, its best if he could talk to her and figure this all out.
He sighed to himself, his mind reflecting on the day so far.
"Lets do this...."

POV: Kenzo
Kenzo had told his family that he was cosplaying Frankenstein, so they ignored his bandage when he came home from school. (They seemed to have an idea of what went down but knew that asking him wont give them an answer, besides he seemed ok.)
"stupid prick" Kenzo muttered to himself, slightly mad that happened in school. He did not expect That Kid to show up. They had beef, and Kenzo was over it the moment he showed up.
That Kid was a guy in his class that started fights in the neighbourhood. People were not sure of what his real name was but he skipped class all the time and went around doing his own thing. A while back during the summer break, Kenzo jokingly called out to That Kid, saying that he was an npc and was doing nothing with his life.
Ever since then That Kid had been beefing with him non stop.
So when he showed up in the classroom right after Daiki left, and Kenzo saw him at the door, they both knew what was about to go down.
It has been going on for a while, its almost like bro code. If they catch each other anywhere, its on sight.
That aside though, it gives Kenzo something to distract his mind with the dark feelings he was having.
Granted he got a member in the form of Daiki, but he is down a day and nowhere near getting the other 4 members into his club. He needs this, if anything to keep his status afloat. Thankfully people did not ask him yet about his girlfriend during class as they were all busy with the day's drama, but he needed an answer for tomorrow. The excuse of his girlfriend being in another school could work, but he knew it would not be permanent. This club would be his perfect cover, no one would ask the love doctor their romantic life.
He needed a move on in that department.
He then thought back to That Kid. Piece of crap person, but there was a bit of info he had that he could use as...potential blackmail material? Well information that is not incriminating for That Kid, but he knew That Kid had some info he could get on another student.
Not that he would normally think of blackmailing anyone, but the person he has on mind would not gracefully join the club, so desperate times require desperate measures.
Kenzo knew what he had to do tomorrow. He got a piece of white cloth and tied it around his head like a headband, now cosplaying his favourite martial artist Druce Bee. he dramatically started slowly moving his arms, feeling the chi fill him up (Kenzo was a martial arts movie fanatic).
He knew what he had to do, to get the information he needs, he needed to win That Kid in a fight, a final brawl between the two to prove who is the real npc and who was the main hero. With a win against That Kid, he could be a step closer to the next member of his club. He dramatically faced his reflection in the mirror, him staring deep into the eyes of a cold blooded murderer (Kenzo was fantasising he came off tough) and knew with one look at himself that That Kid was done for.
"Alright That Kid, lets do this!" muttered Kenzo to himself, smirking as the plan formed in his head.

POV: Sakura
The day went about just how she expected it to go.
She currently was in the community shelter, lying on the bed she was provided with, as her mind was brainstorming on what she had to do.
She had no home to turn to so bunking at the community shelter there seemed reasonable. It was not the ideal spot as there were other teenagers like her all crowded around the free beds, with zero privacy to herself as they all shared single hall. While there was almost zero privacy, it was a great initiative by the local community to give shelter to underaged kids who were in a tough spot and provide them with a shelter to keep them safe temporarily until they can reintegrate into society. If Sakura could choose she would spend her whole life here forever, but she knew she had limited time before she was considered an adult and needed to integrate into society like everyone should.
That was one thing she could not imagine herself doing. She much preferred this place rather than going back home to her parents. Her parents were alive and well, they just did not see eye to eye on her expressions of freedom. She wanted to spend her life helping out the community by not participating in the regular things people do such as education or work and rather be physically present on the streets to help people. She felt that being a model citizen was just feeding into the system, which only profitted the rich (she definitely would make a good dystopian main character). Here in this community shelter she could be away from her parents watchful gaze and be free to do what she wanted.
She had a goal in mind. She wanted to get insider information on big companies and then, much like an independent journalist, show the community just how bad a controlling government can be.
She was not unique in her thought process, but as the system seemed to be working for most, it was never a common thought either. Sakura knew of people who tried to uncover something, they always ended up either apologising or left the country. Sakura knew her goal was dangerous, but she wanted to see it through.
Going to Academy Academy was the first step in reaching this goal. She made contact with Daiki and that indicates that the government was at least aware of her plans somewhat. This does worry her as that just means they are already on her.
"Goddamn government, theres a conspiracy going on here" she muttered to herself as she stared at the business card she collected a while back. She had a bundle of business cards referring to big companies that were all linked to the government but she in particular wanted to stake out a big organisation, this would at least give her something to work with. A gigantic part of the ecosystem that controls society as they know it.
The company on the business card read "Darv Industries".
She knew Daiki was linked to this, but apparently so did the government, as it gave him as her partner.
Something is not right but she needs to still chase this lead, until she can make a call.
"Let's do this..." Sakura muttered as she closed her eyes, calling it a night and ready to continue her plans for tomorrow.
