Chapter 4:
The Paper Club
“Guys, we have a very important task, and I already know what we can do… we'll make a gift”.
That was Tachibana's conclusion, and that's why we're here. But, the girls really take their time to get to an agreed upon place.
“Ouch!”
I only felt that little bump on the back of my head to see that it was Sato who arrived from behind to give me that surprise attack.
“You seem distracted, Koji.”
“Well, you don't expect to be attacked in a mall! And stop calling me by my first name”.
Sato looks very different in her outfit outside of the uniform, with sportswear that really and a cap that the combination that is nothing special she makes her look good, really a great success, but honestly excites me a little to know how Tachibana will come.
“Wow, it seems like you got here early, now I feel embarrassed for being the last one".
Turning around, I could see Tachibana in a beautiful dress that made her look elegant but casual for a trip to the mall.
“Okay guys, I know exactly what to look for, that girl gave me enough information to find the perfect gift, remember it has to be ready for the farewell between these 2 friends.”
“I'm going to miss you so much"
he cheerful play between her and the dog now looked sad after remembering that indeed, this is a farewell.
“Thank you for always being there to take care of me and be the best company always, you will always be my best friend Spots.”
Spots the dog licked her and got excited with the new toy.
“Now it's my turn to take care of you friend, you can't live here anymore but that's why I want you to take something with you that we can always remember about our life together Spots. I love you.”
I looked to Tachibana and her face was shockingly serious, she treat the situation with so much respect. then, she realized the I was watching her.
"Today, the air in Japan is not as clean as it used to be. Many animals have been affected and live in captivity or are transported to other reserves outside the country. Even for pets, it's difficult. Having them here causes respiratory complications. She just wants to give her best friend a chance to live."
Said Sato while we watch the girl hug Spots tightly and shower him with kisses. Then the girl returned the dog to the young man and accompanied him inside to say goodbye to Spots.
“You asked me why we do this Hadokawa, remember?, well I'll answer you now.”
Tachibana said.
“Nowadays there are so many ways to do things that I feel like there's something we overlook, which is to put in the effort and do them from the heart. We help people like Mitsuha put everything they have into achieving their goal, even if it's a small one. That's what we do in the paper club.”
Each of those words, they have incredible weight, it's like she's… A superhero. But… Should I be part of this? I always tried to do nothing, I can't identify with her words because I always tried to be alone, not give anything of myself.
“No one should be nothing. Hadokawa.”
That comment hit me, it's like she read my mind at this very moment.
“Everyone should be able to give their all, at least in what they love or believe in, even you Hadokawa.”
Her words left me frozen, but not in a bad way, it's like a new horizon opened up before my eyes, I always saw a small river to follow in front of me. But now, I see a vast sea and it seems beautiful.
A small tear came out of my eyes but Tachibana doesn't seem to have seen me cry.
“So Hadokawa, are you officially part of the club?”
“Boss, you just got a new member in your club.”
“Don't call me that, it makes me feel embarrassed that you call me Boss.”
“Of course boss.”
“USSSHHHHH”
Maybe after all, it wouldn't hurt to leave the tranquility of my life for a while, for now the only thing I want to do is help in my club. In the Paper Club.
