Death Match!? 23rd Tenkaichi Budokai: Part Two

The Finals roared ahead as unexpected turn events unfolded one after the other. We had Tien defeating Cyborg Tao, Krillin Putting up a solid fight against Piccolo Jr. Hero humiliating Yamcha (Poor Yamcha…). And a… marriage proposal!? That’s right. Upon learning who the mysterious girl “Anonymous” was Goku remembered his promise and vowed to honor it!

Goku finally defeating Tien, with Ryu getting to see a KameHame-Ha for the first time. Stunned by the sight of it. Hero revealing his true nature as Kami to Piccolo. Being trapped in the very same Evil Containment Wave he used to seal Piccolo away… Now in order to save him Goku needed to defeat Piccolo. Everything was going as expected until…

“What on Earth was that!?” Ryu asked.

“The Evil Containment Wave…” Tien exclaimed. “It was meant to trap Piccolo inside, but he turned the move back on his opponent! Trapping the Guardian of Earth within that jar…”

Ryu was trying to pick up the pieces of what was going on. Guardians, Demon Kings! Dragon Balls and energy wave! The more he thought about it the less shocked he became. After all his own life wasn’t too dissimilar. Ki based attacks, and demons as well. Like Akuma… Psycho Power. But still it was definitely sensory overload for our world warrior!

Son Goku Vs. Piccolo

The battle between these two colossal rivals three years in the making was sure to be an epic. After struggling to free Kami, Goku was met on the receiving end of some brutal attacks. Piccolo Jr. struck not only the tournament grounds, but most of the surrounding city with a Masenko Ha! Obliterating most of the area, leaving it a wasteland. In the midst of this attack the majority of the Z fighters managed to hide in an open hole to evade the explosion. But the Announcer wasn’t so lucky… as large chunks of debris as well a shockwave of demon energy barreled towards him. He fell back in fear. Ready to accept his fate.

“Well it looks like that’s all folks!” He yelled in looney-tunes esque manner to audience that was no longer present. Even if only as a means of coping with his impending fate…

“No!” Goku yelled. “Piccolo! You monster!” He said furiously. Powerless to save the announcer in time.

Ryu jumped in front of the Announcer and cuffed his hands together as blue lightning formed around his fists. Two can play at this game… He thought before screaming “HADOUKEN!!!”

And just like that a Down, Fireball Forward! A blue ball of flaming energy erupted from his palms! Cutting through the oncoming debris and energy. Parting it like the Red Sea! Covering the Announcer with his massive body as well. Saving his life. Goku smiling, despite being broken and beaten down. Paralyzed on his place on the ground.

“HaHaHaHaHa!” Piccolo laughed maniacally. “Well it’s over! First I take you, and then the entire world will be at my fingertips!” Piccolo declare. Laughing ever so more.

Wind blowing throughout this wasteland that was once a city as sand and rocks were kicked up. Blinding those who were trying to keep their eye on Piccolo. Ryu looked around in pure shock on the power at display here. He didn’t know how, but he was witnessing a whole new level of power and strength. A ceiling that he just had to learn how to break!

Kami not being able to take anymore decides to take action and stop Piccolo Jr. here and now. And just as Goku was about to voice his displeasure with this, Ryu actually stood to jump in front of Kami.

“What are you-”

“Stop.” Ryu said. Looking out at the fight. Realizing how desperate of a situation this was. “I know it seems foolish, but… this is Goku’s wish to finish this fight on his own. I could feel it when our fists clashed. His desire to push himself, and to win… are unparalleled.” Ryu told him.

Piccolo flew into the air. Preparing a Demon Wave to finish Goku off, once and for all…

“It’s over Goku. Save me a spot in Hell!”

A flash of thunderous yellow energy began gathering in Piccolo’s hands and flashing around his fingertips. His sinister smile illuminated further by the charging attack’s power! Goku’s friends looking on in horror. Even Ryu was starting to regret his decision not to let Kami intervene…

“GOKU NO!” Chi-Chi yelled out in terror.

“YES!” Piccolo yells as he fires the Wave. It’s power cutting through the air and approaching Goku all the up until

*EXPLOSION! CRASH!* A giant flash and cloud of dust and fire where Goku’s body used to be. Everybody watching on in sorrow as Piccolo bursts out into luxurious laughter. Incapable of concealing his wide grin. Not wanting to conceal it.

“HA! How sad. I almost wish you were here to watch your friends perish next.” Piccolo yelled as he continued laughing. Ryu, Krillin and Tien jumping to the forefront, preparing to take Piccolo on if they must…

Then suddenly a falling shadow temporarily blocked the sun before shifting out of sight again. Piccolo in too much glee to notice… And as he stood the laughing. Assuming he’d blasted Goku to bits. Was entirely unaware that upon that moment, Goku had mastered flight. As descends on Piccolo at top speed from the air. Slamming into him head on! Knocking him to the ground as he passes out.

“…” Everyone was shocked. Everyone except for the Announcer who rushed over to determine Piccolo’s consciousness. “And… he’s out. You heard here! Your next world martial arts champion of the world is… Son Goku!” He yelled as he friends jumped for joy and ran to his side.

Ryu watched the unfolding celebration with a smile as he turned and began walking away. Knowing that what he witnessed here today was more than a miracle. It was pure determination and grit! Thank you Goku… Ryu thought. Thanks to you I now know what to strive f- “HEY RYU!” Goku yells across the wastes. Cutting off Ryu’s train of thought.

“Huh…” Ryu turned to face Goku as Chi-Chi was helping him to stand.

“You know after these tournaments we normally celebrate with an awesome spread!” Goku yelled.

“Yeah if Goku leaves enough for the rest of us…” Bulma jokes as everybody laughs.

“I think what Goku was trying to say is… you want to come feast with us!?” Krillin interjects.

“…” Ryu stood there astounded by their energy. Normally one to walk his own path, but today… maybe today was the start of something new. Ryu smiled and replied “Sure! Thank you!”
