Welcome to a New World: Part 1

EXTERIOR. DESOLATED ARENA - DAY
Eventide approaches and fire burns in an amphitheater that looks like it just experienced an apocalypse. Ash floats around as a YOUNG MAN, bleeding and filthy crawls amidst the ruins and fumes of the arena. He is wearing a gladiatorial Roman armor.
Behind him, humongous, hairy legs approach. He throws off his helmet, unbuckles his sword and leaves them behind. The legs stop and equally large hairy arms reach down and pick them up.

MAN'S VOICE (Off. Screen.)
(shouting)
Let's go.

The young man continues to crawl towards a section which looks like it used to be the stage of the amphitheater and then holds the body of an OLDER MAN lying there. Red particles are evaporating from the older man who looks like he is in his sixties.

YOUNG MAN
Professor, professor, please wake up, professor?

There is no response. The young man screams out in pain, not just because of his injured body, his leg specifically but for the professor he's holding in his arms.
In the bleak landscape, scattered around them in the ruined and broken stands of the amphitheater are bodies of humans and monsters, lying still.

FADE TO BLACK.

EXTERIOR. FIELDS - DAY
We glide above a beautiful and colorful landscape. Trees, rivers, grazing wildlife abound in this picture perfect paradise.

JIVA (Voice. Over.)
My world was once perfect.

EXTERIOR. SPACE
Now we view the dark void of space, in the floating emptiness we see five planets, each of them beautiful to behold. They are like exotic iterations of earth but slowly, dark crevices appear on them and spreads over each of them like a plague.
Then, above these failing worlds, a PLANET-SIZED BEARDED OLD MAN in DAZZLING LIGHT appears with a scepter in his hand. Waving the scepter, the old man extracts the dark shadows from the dying planets, shrinks it in the palm of his hand and surrounds it with his light. The act of a god of light.
Then five swords of different precious metals materialize and pierce the light that covers the darkness. All five of the swords then turn in a locking motion, thereby sealing it off.

JIVA (Voice. Over.)
When it was made the creator captured the darkness and banished it using the five fundamentals and left them in our charge.

EXT. FIELDS - DAY
Children are now seen running around and playing on the beautiful landscape. Above them extends white clouds and an endless blue sky. They are at peace, they are not afraid until...
particles of darkness and shadows begin to evaporate from the ground into...

EXT. THE DARKNESS OF SPACE
and cracks begin to show on the orb where the darkness was sealed. We shall call this orb, the orb of light.

JIVA (V.O)
But time passed and the laws which the creator left us were forgotten and the darkness was unleashed.

The orb then shatters, releasing the black mass within to spread around in space.

EXT. BARREN WASTELAND - DAY
JIVA, a woman with bluish-grey skin stands overlooking a barren wasteland. She is holding a beautiful looking trident. Behind her stand her soldiers.

JIVA (V.O)
I fight to restore what we've lost using my fundamental. With the collective might of the five realms, we march upon the dark forces that threaten to consume our world.

A multitude of evil looking creature with reddened eyes storm her but she uses her trident to destroy them in a single strike. Unfortunately the ground of the battlefield cracks open more, letting out more black rays and dark creatures.

JIVA (V.O)
But despite that they still advance. So I call upon you, great warriors from our creator's world...

Around her, fallen soldiers of different races, elves, dwarves and beastmen reach out to pick up their weapons and they rise. Some more fly in on winged steeds, they land at Jiva's side and all the weapons they possess begin to glow.

JIVA (V.O)
...kings, queens, answer our call and enter, take up your swords and vanquish this evil from our paradise.

And they all charge forwards as we zoom out and realize that...

INTERIOR. FROM TRAILER PLAYING ON COMPUTER SCREEN TO ARAMIDE'S BEDROOM - DAY
...it has been a trailer that has been playing, a trailer for the virtual reality game titled "EPIC REALMS". It had been playing on the computer screen.
The computer lies on the bed while a girl, ARAMIDE, age 17, searches for something in her room. She finds it, it's a box. Her computer which had just finished displaying the trailer is now showing the talk show which was advertising it. The audience of the talk show are clapping.

HOST (Off. Center.)
History will be made at the opening of the Epic Realms.

He turns to his guest.

HOST (Off. Center.)
Thanks for coming on the show, Taura.
TAURA (O.C.)
Thanks for having me Chris.
HOST (O.C.)
We've heard all about it from the professor but from your own perspective, what can you tell us about this technological leap?
TAURA (O.C.)
Same as the world made possible by it, it's a dream come true--

The girl has succeeded in cutting open the box and is bringing out a high tech HEAD GEAR. She examines it.
She cancels the talk show and types on her computer's search bar, "how to setup the epic realms gear". She glances out the window and sees someone with a crutch heading towards the house. She rushes out of her room to meet the person.

EXT. THE QUADRI'S HOME - CONTINUOUS
The person approaching the house with a crutch is called TAYO QUADRI, he is in his mid twenties. He is wearing a shirt and trouser, something one would wear to a workplace. He removes his huge sunglasses, revealing his gentle face. The kind of face you would approach to ask for directions if you were ever lost and the kind of face who would do all he can to help. That's the kind of person that is walking towards the house.
He takes a look at the beautiful garden beside the house and then walks up to the front door, he is glad to be home. He leaves the crutch outside.

INTERIOR. LIVING ROOM - CONTINUOUS
A song is playing in the house. There is a huge portrait of the Quadri family. Parents and two children. They all look younger in it. The daughter, Aramide is a baby in it and their father is dressed in military attire.
Tayo leaves his shoes at the door and enters. The house has a pleasant aroma. His mum must be cooking. It's stew, specifically meat stew.

ARAMIDE
(smiling)
Little drummer boy!
TAYO
Stop calling me that.
ARAMIDE
Drummer boy.

He pulls her cheek playfully.

ARAMIDE
Ouch!
TAYO
I'm your elder brother. Don't call me that.

She tries to pull his own cheek but he dodges. So she punches him playfully instead.

ARAMIDE
(sarcastically)
I'm so sorry elder brother. Sounds like a fantasy character. "The Elder Brother". I saw the crutch, what happened?
TAYO
Soccer.
ARAMIDE
Again?
TAYO
It's not "again"
ARAMIDE
Mummy's gonna flip out.

Tayo takes a seat.

TAYO
That is if she knows.
ARAMIDE
No problem. Where are you coming from?
TAYO
Work.
ARAMIDE
That's a lie, you entered town hours ago. Wait a minute! Could it be? My brother has finally caught the attention of a maiden? Could there be a Mrs. in the making?

Tayo chuckles at the statement.

TAYO
Oh God, you're stupid Aramide.
ARAMIDE
Mummy! Tayo called me stupid.
TAYO
Shhhh.
REBECCA (O.S.)
Tayo has arrived?
TAYO
Good evening mummy.

REBECCA, their mum enters the living room, she has an apron on and a headscarf. She has been doing some cooking. She approaches her son and Tayo gets up as smoothly as he can, walking perfectly. They hug each other.
