Welcome to a New World: Part 2

REBECCA, their mum enters the living room, she has an apron on and a headscarf. She has been doing some cooking. She approaches her son and Tayo gets up as smoothly as he can, walking perfectly. They hug each other.

REBECCA
Welcome.

She pulls his cheeks.

REBECCA
Don't say that kind of thing to your sister. Words are powerful. Don't you want her to be as smart as you?

Tayo takes a position behind a chair that obscures the cast that bulges from under his trouser, though the bulge itself isn't very noticeable.

ARAMIDE
I'm smarter. I was just happy he has a girlfriend.
TAYO
I don't.
REBECCA
(jokingly)
But what are you waiting for?
TAYO
(jokingly)
A message from heaven, mummy.

Rebecca's face is filled with joy. She's happy that her son is back.

REBECCA
How are you? How was the trip?
TAYO
It was calm. Hey Barbie Girl! Did a package arrive for me?
ARAMIDE
Boring. One arrived but it's for me.
(jokingly)
It's my present from Taura.
TAYO
Yeah, right.
REBECCA
How's the professor?
ARAMIDE (O.S.)
Don't be jealous drummer-- I mean eldest brother.

Tayo gives her a slightly disapproving look before turning to his mother and shaking his head.

TAYO
(to his mum)
Still the same

He turns to Aramide.

TAYO
I'm not joking Aramide.
ARAMIDE
Pleaseeeeeee let me try it.
TAYO
You didn't turn 18, so... noooooo.

Tayo brings out a box from his bag and brings out a bag of seeds.

TAYO
Here mum.
REBECCA
Daalu. Are you hungry?
ARAMIDE
No. He ate at his maiden's house.

Tayo is flabbergasted by his sister's insistence that he now has a girlfriend.

TAYO
Not--
ARAMIDE
(interrupting him)
See, I told you.
TAYO
I was about to say "Not now". How can I say no to mummy's fried rice? I have to meet up with Guy first.
REBECCA
So you decided to help?

Tayo nods in response. Their mum begins to leave for the kitchen.

ARAMIDE
Your trouser is nice.

Tayo flinches at the compliment. Aramide is trying to draw their mother's attention to her brother's bulging trouser.

TAYO
Just give me the package.
ARAMIDE
Mumm--
TAYO
Okay, okay you can try it after me.

Aramide hugs him and heads for her room.

REBECCA (O.S.)
Don't spend too long.
TAYO
I won't.

INT. TAYO'S BEDROOM - LATER
His room is really organized but dusty. He hasn't been in it in a while, given that he has been out of town. He uses his finger to rub the dust off his desk. Just beside it is a traditional drum and a set of drums.
There is also a bookshelf close to the window. Some of the books there include textbooks and biographies. He flips open a few of them, they bring back mixed memories for him. On the floor in the corner is a console.
He opens his drawer and in it is a little album. He closes the drawer.
He looks at the box that his sister dropped with him and removes the head gear from it and starts affixing it to himself, then his phone rings. He answers it:

MR. SPENCER (V.O.)
Are you logging in now?
TAYO
I'll be in, in about a minute. Wait sir.

INT. GUY'S ROOM - CONTINUOUS
The room is like a hospital ward. We see a boy lying in bed; his name is GUY, he is 11 years old and he looks sick and paralyzed. There are two nurses there waiting on him and seated at his bedside is his father Mr. Spencer.

TAYO (V.O.)
Are you sure you want to go through with this? We still do not know the effects--
MR. SPENCER
Tayo, it will be fine. You just have to find him a guide. That's all.
TAYO (V.O.)
I'm not worried about myself sir, I'm worried about him.
MR. SPENCER
It'll be fine Taiyo. Thank you for doing this.

Mr. Spencer ends the call and nods. A nurse picks up the head gear the same type as was saw Tayo about to use and begin to strap it carefully onto Guy while the other nurse helps out.

GUY
Thanks dad.
MR. SPENCER
Anything for my son.

He kisses his son's emaciated hand.

INT. TAYO'S BEDROOM - CONTINUOUS
Tayo now has the gear on and is sitting still on a chair. He closes his eyes and presses the button on the center of the head gear which is on his forehead. A feeling of calm rushes over him and he then opens his eyes...

EXT. NEBULA - CONTINUOUS
and all he can see is the magnificent vista of a nebula of gases and stars until once again the view shifts and he finally ends up at...

EXT. FIELD, OUTSKIRTS OF TOMWELL, THE VIRTUAL WORLD OF EPIC REALMS - DAY
A gentle breeze is blowing, and the field of grass looks like the picture BLISS. Both Tayo and Guy are lying on the grass dressed in ancient Roman attire, both also having swords by their sides.
Tayo gets on his feet and examines a pouch of coins by his side. He also stretches his hands arms and legs. Guy is still lying on the grass, feeling it enjoying the moment, taking in deep breaths. Tayo squats next to him.

TAYO
Do you need help?

Guy shakes his head in response. SLOWLY, he begins to move his fingers,
then his arms,
then his legs as he steadily gets up and finds his balance. Then he also stretches his arms and clenches his fists. He closes his eyes as tears well up in them, he takes in the breeze once again.
He tries to take a step but stumbles; Tayo catches him. Guy refuses the help gently.

GUY
I can do it.

He then takes one step, then two, then three and finally he begins to run around, laughing, crying, jumping. Tayo is looking on a smile beaming on his face. Guy runs into Tayo hugging him tightly.

GUY
Thank you so much Tayo.

He lets go.

TAYO
Call me Ray in here. It's my gamer tag.
GUY
Can I choose my name too?
TAYO
Uh... yeah?
GUY
Great! Call me... call me...
TAYO
First off, open your dashboard. Tap the side of your neck.

Guy reaches for the right side of his neck but Tayo was referring to the left side which spots a tattoo. Tayo taps the tattoo for him and Guy's head sears a bit with pain and his avatar becomes a little transparent for a split moment before returning to normal.
Then his dashboard pops up in front of him like a hologram.

TAYO
Are you alright?
GUY
Yes.

Skills like physical dexterity, strength and speed are listed. There's also a box for username, level, and class. Guy tries to see if he can edit anything by tapping the board. Though the board is immaterial, it reacts to his touch with a ripple but no option for change appears.

GUY
How do I change it?
TAYO
Uh... you can't

Guy looks extremely disappointed.

GUY
But you said I could!
TAYO
On the board, you can't. To do that you'll have to logout and I'll have to come over and start all over again. It's a long process, I'm not even supposed to be doing it.

Guy looks even sadder.

TAYO
But look, your dad spared no expense.

Tayo points to the Class box which says WARRIOR CLASS.

GUY
What does that mean?
TAYO
He and I thought you shouldn't be limited in here. The other class restricts your max level to 20. This one allows you to use magic.
GUY
(excited)
Magic? I'll be able to use magic?
TAYO
Yep
GUY
Can you show me how?
TAYO
I can't. We both can't, we'll have to reach level 25 first.

Guy's excitement turns to disappointment. Tayo begins to walk towards the village of Tomwell.

TAYO
Come, let's get some horses.
