Chapter 1:

Why Am I Still Alive

Reincarnated As A Princess But I’m Still A Seal?!

Chapter 1

Soru shot up in bed and screamed. Wait. Bed? She looked around her surroundings. The room was adorned with expensive-looking furniture and jewelry. She was lying down on and wrapped in fluffy fabric. Wait, did I actually get reincarnated? She was in shock. Hell yeah, carefree life here I come!

There was a knock. The door opened. A silver-haired woman carrying an elegant atmosphere about her stepped into the room.

Why is there a human in this place? I said I wanted to be born rich, not human. Ew.

Brushing off the disgust, she continued to observe the woman. Her eyes were stormy and gray, but her expression was unreadable. The human unwrapped her from the blanket and sighed.

“What am I going to do with you…?”

Wait, what do you mean? I look fantastic, have you ever paid attention to me? Soru huffed.

As she was being swaddled, she saw a mirror. How horrifying. Her beautiful face! Her perfect whiskers! Her round chonky beauty had devolved into the fat cheeks of a human infant.

But one part of her -- the most important part -- was still recognizable... Her tail!

Wait.

Do humans have tails nowadays?

The woman continued to mutter in a quiet voice. “If her majesty finds out about this, you and I will most likely…” she trailed off.

Lady, stop with the cliffhangers and tell me, she grumbled. She continued to pace around the room in silence, she had a vague idea that both of them would most likely be executed due to the abnormality.

The unnamed human, who she assumed to be her mother, spoke once again. “Maybe… we can still hide it. Yes, with a long dress! It might cover this up… and until then, if we can just keep her wrapped in a blanket then… Perhaps nobody will discover it?"

Gradually tuning out her voice, she began to think about what happened earlier. Her throat grew tighter at the sudden memory of her siblings. While they were immature and obnoxious at times, they were still her only surviving family. I never taught them how to hunt by themselves or how to swim properly. Her eyes grew moist. Tears began to slip down her cheeks... The woman cradled her.

“Everything will be alright in the end, Seru. I promise in the name of Veraia.”

She began to calm down. Okay, well at least she’s not going to kill me off, so that’s a plus and well… I think they’re rich?

She noticed a large white jewel catching the sunlight, sparkling and blinding her fresh eyes. Yep, definitely rich. Jackpot.

She wondered if she was going to make it to the age of one at the very least. At this rate, she wasn't counting on it.
