Chapter 1:
Usurper: The Liberation Vow
Wrex Stroggan stood at the edge of the city’s sky bridge, watching the bustling metropolis below. Neon lights flickered on the glass buildings as hover-cars zipped across the sky like insects, leaving streaks of blue in the night air. The world was perfect—or at least, it seemed that way. Food was abundant, disease was a thing of the past, and no one feared the future. The Montlaif energy had made all of it possible.
Wrex couldn’t ignore the gnawing emptiness that filled him. One of the reasons was because he’d grown in a world where everything was easy. Despite the peace, no wars, no hunger, no struggle- he felt something rather different. In this perfect world it felt like humanity lost something vital-something more than ambition.
It had all started in early 1910, with the discovery of Montlaif-an energy source that had rendered coal, gas obsolete and oil. Montlaif-liquid found deep within the mountains, provided infinite power, and with that it helped with humanity’s greatest fear-the fear of resource depletion. Nations came together, no longer needing to fight for survival or land-therefor peace reigned. After the discovery of the powerful energy no war had ever happened till current date.
But peace came at a cost. The world-now called Facile-had fractured the 8 Superentis nations, and those who refused to embrace the new order—the True Residents were cast out, forgotten by the world. But rumors of their true existence, secrets and technology persisted, only to be whispered behind closed doors.
As for the language barrier they found a perfect solution. With the hope they got from the Montlaif-the liquid that changed everything. It had all happened decades ago, where humanity had the most powerful energy source ever-ending the need for oil, gas, even electricity.
Group of the most talented doctors have found-Lozgar, a vaccine that was used in all 8 nations where there was a new law. It was a must for every newborn child to be vaccinated with Lozgar-thus eliminating the language barrier. The idea was to unite the world into one, being closer to Utopia, and this was one huge leap for the humanity.
Wrex had heard the stories of the True Residents—Maconia and Korthian—countries that refused to embrace the peace brought by Montlaif. They were called Outcasts by the world, and there was a rumor that they were still fighting battles long forgotten by the Superentis nations. Their lands were guarded by the Wall of Lions and the Gate of Dragons. And no one knew what technology they still held—what secrets they were hiding.
The education now had a new version of showcasing the history, and that was to teach the kids from young age that even though their life now is easy and stable, they had no need to ever mention the True Residents-where they were displayed as something taboo.
In a world without hunger and war, Wrex couldn’t shake the nagging feeling that something was missing. He had discontent and growing awareness of something wrong. Something had to give in …
"Your mother and I have kept this from you for a reason," his father’s voice filled with a warning Wrex couldn’t ignore. "Never speak of it. Never even think about it. The truth… it's not a burden you should carry." Wrex nodded, but deep inside, the words stirred something dangerous—a desire to uncover the hidden truth, to challenge everything he had been taught. Someday, he thought, I will find out. And when I do, I’ll decide whether I’m the savior… or the destroyer.
Information for the current state of the new world was rather interesting one. Everyone had a job, and everyone was happy with their choice they made. Most of the people had lost the ambition and motivation for something better, they had almost no goals set for their future and thus the level of intelligence was starting to drop. The average IQ was lower and it seemed like the world hold no bright future.
The benefits they now had were prompt to a perfection, every food was naturally selected and rich with vitamins and nutrition. The water was safe everywhere, even from the rivers. It was all thanks to the Montlaif and the people that put a lot of effort and time into researching it. Although it was almost impossible for them to find the truth behind the true nature of the Montlaif, the researchers still found a way around to use this energy source more than intended.
Wrex was still confused as to why the system has drastically changed to the point where they rebuild the military ,the army and the police all together.
They had now combined those 3 into one big facility ,but their role had no use whatsoever. This was thanks to the device Touch Zero, with it’s concept of being used to prevent crime and ensure peace.
Touch Zero had the ability to suppress the murderous and violent behavior from the people, to make them unable to act in such way.
This device and its information was Top Secret all in order to prevent rebellion or uprising chaos. It was known that it was somehow directly connected with the brain and every weapon or any object that could be used that way had a dark blue print emblem which was a safe way to show that there was no need for alarm of any crime.
People had marks on their bodies, it was the number 8 as it was closes to resemble the symbol for infinity and was colored with the same color as the emblem of Touch Zero safe state. This was the safest and most efficient way to prevent any crime or violence-thus people looked happier and were never wary of such things. Some of them were even ignorant of the true meaning behind those words.
This was one of the key elements for the upcoming journey for Wrex.
His future already set in stone, as he is the one who made the vow, the one who is going to be the savior, or perhaps the destroyer …
