Chapter 29:

⛭ EPILOGUE ⛭

Raceblazers

In the Daylight Stadium, the crowds of people that had gathered there were silent as no one had come through the portal yet.

That was until a certain jeep made it through to the other side.

Although the audience began to cheer for the apparent victory The Flaming Cones had earned to the end, they started to quiet down as they saw that the team themselves weren’t celebrating.

In fact, they had a few other issues that concerned them after walking through the portal.

President Daylight and Cyphra were nowhere to be found after they arrived.

Their other friends from universes away did not respond to their call.

And Trax had died

As Chelbie cried over her friend’s lifeless body, she began to understand how Cherry felt about losing Ararima.

With Zadz, Mache, Hisa, and even Drift trying to emotionally support her feelings, Chelbie had to sadly let go as there was no other way to revive him.

If they had The Eternal Light Of Life or if the injuries hadn’t cut deep into his heart, there would have been a chance.

Unfortunately, both of those hopes were unattainable.

In an unexpected twist, Chelbie slid the left armband from off of her arm and put it around Trax’s arm instead as a way of showing her feelings for him.

“You told me to keep moving on with my dreams. That is what I intend to do for you,” said Chelbie as she remembered when he was there for her when she needed him the most.

After the moment of silence that day, Chelbie could understand Zadz’s side in what he said regarding the loss of their previous teammates. Even if Trax led them the best he could have, she had a feeling that if he was honoring his parents, he definitely honored his teammates’ sacrifices as well.

The question of if they were all now Raceblazers lingered in Chelbie’s mind, but she and Hisa decided to say their goodbyes to Zadz, Mache, and Drift days later when they were leaving to head back to Animearth.

They had to figure out what happened to Styra and her other friends after all.

By the time Chelbie and Hisa were ready to board the space carrier, the remaining crew of The Flaming Cones waved goodbye as well. They would get to keep Chelbie’s replica MadCyke for time being, but Zadz asked one more question as they picked up all of their luggage that had been gathered from their Splashwave Shore terminal station.

“Will we ever see you again?” he asked them.

Although Chelbie would have originally preferred meeting them again when they came back later, she couldn’t help but feel like it wasn’t right to just abandon them that way.

“Come with us. I know we may be headin’ home but, if I’m being honest, I really want you guys to meet my other friends. Plus, livin’ in that lounge of yours wouldn’t be the best way to celebrate us being Raceblazers now. They literally have a much cooler lounge in here. And don’t worry there are no Lucilas allowed,” she said with a pleasant smile.

“I guess I can’t say no to that,” replied Zadz as he looked back at Mache and Drift who entered into the space carrier with him as it was getting ready for take-off.

With The Flaming Cones now able to relax, in the first-class lounge that they had always dreamed of getting a chance to be in, Chelbie did have one last question on her mind that she wanted to ask Zadz.

“Say, one other question. I noticed you don’t have a last name like Trax or Mache did. What’s up with that?” she asked while kicking back in an expensive massage chair as it silently rubbed her back.

A discreet pause came from Zadz’s lips as he finally caved in to what she was asking.

“Are you sure you want to know?” he asked as the suspense started to unfold between the rest of the group as they were also curious about it as well.

“Umm, yeah I guess?”

Letting out a huge sigh, Zadz revealed his true identity.

“I’m a Vanderhilt.”
