The New Dawn, Part 2

Kaito knelt beside his father, holding his head. "Dad!! Dad, why??"

Daichi Tanaka, with a broken voice, said, "Because you're my son, and fathers exist to protect their families."

"We'll help you, Dad! You'll get through this!"

Tanaka, holding Kaito's hand, said, "Promise me to always be happy and protect your mum."

Kaito, in tears, replied, "Dad, what are you talking about?"

"Promise me to finish your bakery school..."

"You knew... you knew it?"

"From the start... I'm sorry I wasn't brave enough to let you share it with me..."

"Dad, don't talk like this!"

"My son, make this world better... It was an honor to be your fa..."

General Daichi Tanaka took his last breath. "Dad... Dad... Dad!!!!!!" Every reanimation attempt failed.

Aiko hugged Kaito from behind. Tekuno, still in chains, ran to Kaito, pressing his head against his. Hashi rubbed his head on Kaito's arm. President Hoshino kneeled beside Kaito, "Kaito, I'm very sorry for your loss. Your dad was a great man. I hope you can forgive me one day." He too joined the group hug, tears in his eyes.

Both military districts were in shock. After a few hours, they worked together to ensure General Tanaka's body was safely transported back to Tokyo. They also collected the pieces of the ancient AI robot for a proper resting place.

Our friends headed back to Tokyo by helicopter. Kaito rested on Aiko's shoulder, Tekuno holding his arm.

A few days later, the funerals of General Tanaka and Professor Senji were held in Tokyo, both in the human district—an unprecedented event.

Sakura Tanaka cried in Kaito's arms, saying her last words to her husband.

After the funerals, Kaito held a press conference in Shibuya, in front of both humans and AIs.

Kaito began, "My dear human and AI population, thank you for attending my father's and Professor Senji's funerals. My father was a great soldier, father, and husband. I am not like him, but I have love in my heart and a vision of freedom, peace, and unity. Before I continue, I ask President Hoshino to join me on stage."

Hoshino addressed the crowd, "Good evening, dear human and AI population. General Tanaka was a man with a heart of gold. I regret our time together was limited by this division. Kaito Tanaka is taking the leadership now, following his father's footsteps. I announce my retirement as the president of the AI district." The crowd was in shock.

"I will leave the future of my district in the hands of my beloved daughter, Aiko Hoshino!" The crowd started to clap. Aiko moved up to the stage, giving her father a kiss on the cheek and whispering in his ear, "Thank you, Father."

Aiko stood next to Kaito, holding his hand. "My father's and General Daichi Tanaka's work will remain in history. They avoided another war. We thought we lived peacefully, though divided. Now, we officially announce the..." Both together: "...the dissolution of the districts!" The crowd cheered and clapped louder and louder.

Kaito continued, "But we need your help! We need every single one of you to create a new world! We can do it with love, respect, and forgiveness!"

"Yes! Go for it, my boy!" screamed Hiroshi, Kaito's best friend. Everyone, AIs and humans, embraced each other.

Aiko and Kaito hugged. Aiko said, "You showed me what I was waiting for my entire life!"

Kaito replied, "You showed me what life is really about!" They kissed for the first time in front of the entire human and AI population of the Kanto region.

Tekuno jumped on stage with Hashi, hugging both and saying, "Wait, wait, if you're both the big bosses now, can I be the first general or something cool like that?"

Kaito laughed, "Come here, my metallic friend!" All three hugged with Hashi in the middle. Aiko declared, "No matter what the future brings, we'll always stay united!"

All together: "Yes, Ms. President!"

Years passed, and both districts melted into one. Starting in Tokyo, every divided district on the planet decided to follow Aiko's and Kaito's vision, creating a world in harmony. Kaito, though now a general, opened his own bakery shop called Banana Boy, managed by Tekuno and Hashi.

Aiko, besides being the president, opened several human and AI boxing gyms and created the world's first AI/Human boxing league while finishing her studies to become a teacher. 

Sakura Tanaka wrote a book about her husband's life and achievements, donating her entire income to a human and AI veteran organization in honor to her deceased Husband. 

Hiroshi and his wife welcomed their first child.

Kaito pondered, "Aiko, I wish human/AI babies could be born someday..."

Aiko replied, "Yes, but I'm traditional... not before getting married."

Kaito, smiling, said, "I really hoped you would answer like this!"

Aiko, surprised, asked, "What?"

Kaito, kneeling, said, "Aiko, would you give me the honor to love and protect you as long as I live and beyond?"

Aiko, with a laugh, replied, "Well, I guess you need someone to save you, just in case you meet a banana again!"

Both laughed and kissed.

Kaito whispered, "AI_shiteru."

Aiko, smiling, replied, "Wow, nice word play, Banana Boy!"

And with tears in her eyes, said, "I love you too!"

And so, a new era began, filled with hope, unity, and love. The legacy of Kaito, Aiko, Tekuno, and their friends would forever be remembered as the ones who bridged the gap between humans and AIs, creating a world where both could live in harmony.
