Chapter 1:
2101 years until the end of the world
Akuma, the most terrifying form of a tsunami ever seen in nature, has annihilated nations around the world. The book that was open on my desk said.
“Can I go to the bathroom?”
“Sure, Ono-san.”
On the way to the bathroom I look outside and through the glass wall I see hundreds of skyscrapers whose tops reaching above the clouds, billboards on 24 hours a day, cars moving without touching the ground, a view that pleased my eyes.
Suddenly all the billboards went out and so did the school lights.
“A blackout.”
It lasted about 2 seconds, all the lights that had gone out came back on instantly. I continue going to the bathroom, but when I get there, I hear a man groaning from inside the stall, what seemed to be pain.
“Argh!”
“Are you okay, in there?”
The man opens the door, he had a look of despair, he was wearing a suit covered in blood.
“Oh my god! Are you okay? I'll call the nurse, wait there!”
“NOOO!”
He shouted from the bottom of his throat!
“If they find me, it'll be the end, please, boy!”
He looked at me with a look of astonishment.
“Okay, okay, I get it.”
“One question, what year is it? 2080? 90? 100?”
The man was lost in time.
“2101”
“Who is the president of the country?”
“There isn't a single president, Front is a company, there's no way to say a single person.”
“Front? They still rule the world? DAMN IT! We really lost the war.”
“What do you mean they lost the war? And besides, why are you covered in blood? What's going on? Are you crazy? I'm going to call a teacher!”
“NO! Boy, don't do this, listen to me, please! I need you to get me out of here without anyone seeing me.”
“I find it hard, the entire school is monitored 24 hours a day by cameras, not just the school but practically every public place in Japan!”
“Damn, this is going to be a pain, lend me your coat, I’ll put it on and you can take me your home, okay?”
“Calm down, calm down buddy! I don’t know you and I’m still going to take you home?”
“What’s your name, man?”
“Ono Akimitsu!”
After I answered, the man calmed down and took a deep breath.
“Nice name, man! Well, here’s the situation! I need you to not let those cameras see me!”
“Why? Are you a fugitive by any chance? Because if you are, you won’t get out!”
“Ono Akimitsu, I’m not what you think, after I get home I’ll explain the whole situation to you.”
My head itches, he doesn’t seem to be lying, in our current society I think anyone who tried to escape from prison would be killed instantly.
“Well, hide here in the bathroom until my class is over and I’ll help you get out.”
“Thank you very much Ono-san!”
Going back to the classroom, in the hallway the inspector looked at me with a face that if I took any longer in the bathroom he would come in and force me out!
“Akimitsuu, were you taking a shit, right?” “Of course not, Taichi!”
“Hey Ren, aren’t you going to say anything to Akimitsu?”
“Evacuating feces is a normal human act, there’s just nothing to talk about.”
These were Matsuraida Taichi and Takeo Ren, the three of us have been friends for a long time, if one of us had a problem, we would definitely be there to help. The last class ended and the bell finally rang, everyone started getting ready to leave.
“Akimitsu, Ren, do you want to go eat ramen? There’s a bunch of people there, by the way, Hanami will be there too!”
“Hanami-san?”
Just hearing her name made me blush.
“What’s wrong, Akimitsu? You look like a bell pepper!”
“Shut up, Taichi!”
While I was thinking about her, I couldn’t find an answer to Taichi’s provocation.
“Today, my parents and sister are coming back from a trip. I’m going to buy food at the convenience store to welcome them. I won’t be able to go.”
“You guys are so annoying. That’s why you don’t date or go out with your classmates, let alone a woman.”
Taichi left with the group to eat, while Ren and I packed our things to leave the room.
“Give your parents and sister a hug for me.”
“Okay, see you later.”
Ren and I said goodbye. While he walked towards the exit, I went to the bathroom to take care of some problems.
“Sir! It’s me, Akimi-.”
He opened the door to the stall.
“Thank God, Ono-san. I couldn’t stand being in there any longer. Well, let’s go to your house!”
“First, put on this coat and this mask I got from the nurse, pretend you have a cold.”
We left the school, luckily, the street was busy and we blended in with the crowd.
